Works on dry well pit graywater systems
By Anon on Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2023
If you live in the rural country where many old homes use drywell pits for graywater, you need this. My utility sink pipes for the washer draining backed up in the middle of winter. The washer line out ties in with the kitchen graywater pipes out into your typical drywell pit where water then percolates down through the ground. I tried all manner of drain cleaners, hair decloggers, threw everything including snaking the line as far as I could and it would not drain. I had given up on fixing it so was planning to simply install a new graywater pit with a dedicated line into it straight from the washer. After researching more I decided to try this product solely for taking care of the kitchen line out. First I cleaned out the drywell pit of as much black sludge as I could in order to inspect what was going on deeper. All looked good there, so added one treatment directly into the pit to let it do its magic.I treated the kitchen line again (had already done treatments on all drains for soap scum, grease etc many months earlier), and carried on making plans for the new dedicated drywell pit. I needed to travel for business so decided to pour the remainder of the bottle down the kitchen sink to let it work while I was gone. It sat in the pipe (with the washer line elbow joining in somehwere below ground) for 4 nights with zero water use. When I got back I needed to wash clothes so got prepared to do some fast catching of washer water draining out into a 5 gallon bucket put in the deep utility sink but to my amazement the first discharge of water started to go straight down the drain. I ran out to the drywell pit and lifted the cover in time to see two large white chunks of fatty greasy material plop into the pit. Wow. The line was completely open and running free.My theory? When I first purchased the home I did a major declogging treatment regimen which I believe actually loosened the mother of all cheese logs which got crammed into the 45 degree elbow where the washer line comes in to the kitchen line. Previous owners were HEAVY meat eaters and I did not see any fine particle strainers in sinks etc when walking through the listing. I most likely loosened and then compacted the detritus into the joint. I also believe that had i not left the product sitting for as long as I did the results might have been less spectacular. All I know is that my drywell pit water is now clear and functioning better than ever. No one wants to replace one of these systems, you must keep that water clean and percolating. I plan on adding a bottle of this to both of my graywater systems either side of the house to ensure things stay happy in the soil. If your soil compacts and stops percolating you are done for. I believe this product does exactly what it claims, it worked for me.

Slow drain field. Added entire product as instructed and 4 weeks later drain field as slow as before.I’m updating this to include that the seller contacted me and made good on the purchase so I believe this is a reputable company and with that, probably a very good product. The description certainly makes you think so. This is a 24 year old system so maybe it needs additional treatments and more time to reverse. We never put anything but TP down the toilets and don’t use unusual amounts of bleach or cleaning supplies. Because they stand behind their product I’m going to try another round and see if things will improve. It’s certainly better than the cost and mess of replacing the field. I’ll update this if it works!
