No More Pet Hair and No Problems!
By Karen K on Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2023
There are many more Irobot and other brands of robotic vacuums out there to choose from and most with many more features than this one. In my opinion those others just have more possibilities of something malfunctioning and stopping the whole vacuum. This iRobot Roomba E5 (5150) Robot Vacuum is the basic Roomba vacuum whose principal function is to suck up everything in its wake … which I think is the chief function of all of the rest of them. None of them move your furniture or pick up socks or hair ties, you will always have to do that yourself. But this little lady, whom I affectionately call Hazel, keeps our floors clean and free of cat hair. Follow all directions and keep her clean and she’ll do the same for you.

Update- very disappointed

⚠️***1 year update*** I’m sad to say this veryexpensive iRobot is much worse than my inexpensive iLife. Even with app updates the Wi-Fi controls literally never work. I have to push the button on the machine to get it to vacuum. It rarely makes it back to its charging port either & when it does it doesn’t set itself right to take a charge. iRobot customer support could care less. I’ve sent several emails and only get bot replies. I’m done with iRobot. Do yourself a favor and go with a cheaper brand, they work better than this thing ever did.‼️ ***UPDATE*** Well the WiFi rarely works and has to re-boot constantly (it’s the robot not my wi-if service) but the WORST PART I’ve found out during use the past few months is it’s AWFUL for pet hair. There seems to be a DESIGN FLAW getting the pet hair that is sucked up into the roomba’s dustbin. The dirt and pet hair just collects in the chute and does not make it into the unit’s dustbin thereby signaling the roomba that it’s “full” within about 10 minutes of use. I wanted to love this roomba but overall it’s been a frustrating disappointment. Works great. Getting the WiFi set up on it was a little bit of a chore, but other than that this has been the best robot vac I’ve had. It’s got some good suction and is mainly used on plank floors with area rugs. It does an decent job on carpet, but it is perfect for wood or stained concrete floors.

Exceeds mom and 4 year old's expectations

If you've ever had an off-brand robot vacuum that sucked (not literally) and stopped randomly to yell unintelligible phrases at you, you will love this. Bianca here cleans the floors thoroughly, her words are clear, and she also sends you a message on your phone to tell you what the issue is. So far, her problems have always been easy to fix (something wrapped around the wheel, trapped on a cliff, etc). Between the kids and a dog that sheds enough for 5 dogs, Bianca has her work cut out for her in my home. She consistently does a fantastic job. My only regret is not spending more to get the one that dumps it's own canister when it's done because, well, my floors are gross. I appreciate Bianca's help, and my 4 year old loves her so much that he brought his pillow and blanket to lay on the floor next to her while she napped (even though she might not be a real robot since she's not made of all metal). He would like one of his own for his 5th birthday.

Very satisfied on how my roomba cleaned. Disappointed that our didn't even come with one wall barrier I had to keep eye on it so it wouldn't go into certain areas
Very good thank you

It's silver

I bought it thinking it was a rose/gold color like in the pic, but it's silver. This is the third Roomba I've owned. This model works okay but I feel that the older models were designed better. This model's bin is smaller and the design makes it harder to empty. The handle is harder to grab and this model doesn't make the traditional beeping sounds that the previous models made. I miss my old Roomba but alas, I will make the best of new relationship with Roombiticus III.

I originally purchased my Roomba e6 in November 2021. It's 10/5/23 and it lasted this long. I will probably get another one. It malfunctioned because it is stuck on error 6, & the steps to fix the error didn't work. According to Google, the average lifespan of a Roomba is up to 2 years. I am very satisfied with my purchase because it did its job well. I'm kind of sad also because I had sort of a 'bond' with my iRobot. I highly recommend as an affordable alternative to a new one.
Like new condition, powerful suction for pet hair.

Love this Roomba. Was in like brand new condition. I have 2 other robotic vacs one of them is nearing its end of life.. Had Run both of them within last week, put this new powerful vac down picked up pet hair from carpets like it had not been cleaned in a month. We have 2 dogs, 2 cats and a messy parrot it's essential to have a robotic vac like this for daily pick up. For the price you cannot go wrong. Next day delivery was great. If you need help to keep up between deep vacuuming get one of these roombas NOW.
Make Sure Base Station is in a Room where Roomba Often Goes

We’ve had the Roomba E5 for a month, and overall this vacuum is amazing! Runs up to 2 hours on a charge. Suction is good enough for any standard cleaning needs, and even for a few larger spills or cleanups. Covers 1500 square feet of floor effectively. It is a cumulative effect, so don’t be discouraged if the first run doesn’t get your floor spotless. We run ours (scheduled on the very user friendly app) three times a week. We have hardwood floors with a few area rugs, two dogs and a teenager, and after a few runs our floors were PERFECT, and have stayed that way! Remember this is not a full size upright vacuum cleaner, so don’t expect it to act like one. Run it on a regular schedule, empty the container, and make your floors easily accessible to the robot. It’s dumb, so if something is in its way it will just bounce off and go somewhere else! *IMPORTANT* The unit DOES NOT have mapping capabilities. The only way it will find it’s way back to its charging base is by line-of-site. In other words, it has to randomly get close enough for it’s IR sensor to “see” the charging base. If it doesn’t find it in time, it will die wherever it’s battery runs out. If that happens to be under the couch…. So, PUT THE BASE IN A ROOM THAT THE ROBOT OFTEN ENDS UP IN! For us it’s the kitchen. Lot’s of ways in and out of there, and Roomba ends up there quite a bit. When the battery gets low it will automatically go into homing mode and dock as soon as it’s in range. It’s really satisfying when you hear that happy little chime it makes when it docks and you get that notification on your phone that says “Roomba Has Completed a Job!”
Steer clear if you value good customer service

The only reason I gave this product 2 stars is because the product actually works great, well, when it works anyways. We purchased 5 of these vacuums as a Christmas gift for our children and their families and were very pleased with them until one of our children got home and found that their vacuum was broken. The bottom of the dust bin tray had been cracked and would not stay on the tray. The vacuums had been sitting before Christmas for a while and by the time we found the defect, it had been 87 days. In the policy, it stated that returns were accepted up to 90 days after they had been received. So we hurried up and submitted a return request and it was approved. We immediately returned it (which we had to pay for, $45). We never received the refund because they claimed that the serial number had been scratched off and the vacuum was not broken. We have been in a battle ever since with customer service and they will not honor their warranty and will not replace or refund the item. It is really sad because we have all enjoyed our other vacuums, but it is not worth it if 1 out of every 5 is a battle with customer service. My advice would be to look at different brands because this one will not honor their policy and stand by their product.
