Make sure you have the right wiring!

I LOVE my new thermostat but I was replacing an vey old 2 wire (red & white) hook up. Which isn't an issue for my heater, I had the right panel on the furnace... however, the wire ran from the basement up through the wall and took over 2 hours to find and re-run, I even had to cut a hole in my finished basement ceiling. Aside from the wiring debacle once I had bought and run a new thermostat wire the set up was pretty easy (just tell them at the hardware store you want a thermostat wire with at least four wires.) I also really appreciated the little built in level to make sure the thermostat is straight during install! As far as the tech goes its easy to use. I use the sensor in my bedroom and set the program to use that sensor at night to dictate if the heat should come on. Overall I love this thermostat and has definitely helped me modernize my 1940's fixer upper. Just make sure you have the correct wiring or the time to install the appropriate wiring.

Disappointed in Amazon and their service

Ordered an ecobee 4 and the description explained as looks and performs in new condition. There is this whole amazon renew guarantee where they will replace or refund if you are not happy within 90 days. Upon receiving the product I opened the box and found the bottom left section of the thermostat smashed in somewhat and scratched up. I called and spoke with an amazon representative and requested a replacement item and a shipping label to replace this flawed product. I was told that they would not do this but instead allow me to return the product and upon them receiving it they would then process it for refund that would take several days following the products return and then I could go back on to their site and order the product again...... This is extremely frustrating since it is the middle of summer and this would take a minimum of 10-12 days to handle. Quality control from Amazon is absolute trash and the guarantees they promise are empty at best. There is no love for loyalty and they do not value anyone as a customer and it shows when you are treated as poorly as I just was. If you want this product do not purchase it from Amazon, you are better off buying it from a yard sale honestly...
