Bang for the buck
By Yuki on Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2021
As many have attested to, the cover/keyboard it comes with is heavy, making up half it's weight, but looks pretty nice - sturdy and intuitively crafted, but the fabric started unwiring (unthreading?) within the first few days... Therefore I summarily discarded it and purchased a compatible leather casing along with a portable bluetooth keyboard (that folds son!), and this combo completed everything - it's a magnificent god dayum beauty now. Battery life is exceptionally superior and puts my Macbook Pros to shame. Stream 3-4 movies on one charge with no problem. The touch screen isn't as sensitive as say an iPad, but this isn't a deal breaker. I also got a protective screen, so this further compounded the sensitivity issue. Overall, super happy with this slick pad. Side note: The Chromebook Duet is certainly unsure about its own identity - whether it identifies itself as a laptop or tablet, it lingers in the nebulous uncertainty in between, but the hell with that as long as it delivers, which it does.

Updated my review - the tablet is just too slow and laggy
By Gregger on Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2021
****Update: I had to drop more stars. The tablet is just too slow and laggy. Screen taps are delayed by like a second (when it detects them), it constantly buffers or lags out while watching streams, listening to Live music channels on YouTube will randomly buffer. Overall nice form factor and general build quality but the hardware powering the device just isn't enough to keep up. Considering I only use this for opening a stream or playing a playlist on YouTube and leaving it alone and it being laggy and frustrating, I can't imagine someone using this thing continuously as a laptop or tablet. Only reason I didn't drop to 1 star is because the build quality is nice and the keyboard it comes with is decent. Otherwise practically unusable. Many people on reddit say the same thing so I'm certain it's not just me or my particular tablet. Not sure if it's just the one I received or not since I don't have another to compare it to but the screen takes time to "wake up" to taps/clicks. I wanted a smaller screen on my desk since I am full-time "work from home" and enjoy having some streams going like Twitch/YouTube etc while I work so it doesn't feel so lonely in my home office. I plugged this into a USB-C hub to expand my connection options. The hub delivers power to the tablet and I have my USB amp connected to the hub and running to my desk speakers and headphones (I really wish it had two USB-C connections but it's a form factor Chromebook/tablet so I understand keeping it simple). When actively using the tablet, it's fantastic. It's mostly very snappy but at times it can become a little sluggish with things you wouldn't expect. I leave the tablet under my wall mounted monitor in front of me and occasionally want to change a stream or music but after it has been doing its thing for a while and I decide to navigate the screen it's on it doesn't immediately respond to taps/clicks. Say you have a YouTube video playing for an hour and decide you want to pause it by tapping the video to bring up the controls, it probably won't respond. You have to tap, wait, tap, wait, then tap again (or some combination of that - sometimes it's faster sometimes it's slower). But once it responds it will continue to respond until it has been idle a while. I don't know if this is a power saving feature built into the tablet's hardware (I see no option for it in ChromeOS settings) but it's weird because if you don't tap but rather slide your finger on it to scroll it's immediately responsive. I thought maybe it's just having trouble detecting my fingertips with a single tap hence why scrolling seems to work almost immediately (Also, fingerprint/biometric readers don't tend to play well with my fingerprints so it didn't seem crazy) so I tried using a stylus and it's the same exact issue. Maybe I got a cheap stylus and am experiencing the same thing because of it but I don't know, not trying to spend $50 on a nicer stylus for a $180 tablet. Overall, yes I would buy this again. The screen issue is VERY annoying but it's worth it to not have my 14" laptop on my desk taking up space. This thing fits perfectly under my monitor, looks nice, has quality feeling power/lock and volume buttons, the fabric case which has a built-in kickstand is very nice and SOLID SOLID SOLID, and has a surprisingly nice keyboard! I recommend the product, but be aware that the screen issue might not just be a "me" issue as I've seen some posts about it on reddit r/chromeos with a lot of "me too" responses to the posts. But, if you plan to use it and continuously interact with the tablet it's a non-issue. It's more an issue when the tablet is idle for a bit so it shouldn't be a deal breaker for anyone unless you're very impatient with tech not being super snappy.
