Perfect video doorbell and pairs great with the hub cam system
By Leo's Honest Reviews on Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2021
Purchased this after having installed the home hub with two outdoor cameras. This replaced another battery operated doorbell I had that was not very good. I chose this as it linked up with the new cameras I had purchased and the fact that it had local storage with no monthly fee. The chime works very well as it rings both the main hub and the additional hub that this unit comes with. The SD slot is on the chime hub that comes with this which is a nice feature as it a) does not bog down the homehub storage and b) keeps the video secure even if someone manages to yank the camera off the door. So far, the motion recognition and facial detection have worked very well and so have all the other features. I would highly recommend this system.

App software would not connect; total waste of time
By The Dude on Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2022
I have bought many hundreds of products from Amazon over multiple decades, but this first experience with Eufy technology was so annoying that I am finally writing my first product review. Summary: do not buy this product unless you seek to waste time, degrade mental health, or otherwise summon the rage of whomever you have inadvertently cursed with the responsibility of setup. I can't remember ever being so enthusiastic about a purchase and subsequently being so let down by such a colossal fail. I received a brand new device—there were no signs of a refurbished unit—yet despite all the slick marketing about ease of setup, I could not get past the initial step of connecting the Eufy app to the doorbell speaker. My Bluetooth and WiFi worked fine when trying to add the speaker to my Eufy account in the mobile app. All you have to do is scan the QR code on the speaker with your phone and enter your WiFi password when prompted—this should have been a 1-minute process. The doorbell speaker was properly positioned between the doorbell and WiFi receiver per the instructions. The unit itself actually twice gave verbal confirmation that it had successfully connected to the WiFi, but the app would not recognize this, and I could not proceed to finish the setup process. I have multiple tech-related graduate degrees and tons of experience with networked devices, so this was not a user issue. I spent about an hour troubleshooting and could see in my phone settings that the Bluetooth and WiFi both recognized the speaker. But nothing, nothing I tell you, could get the app to recognize these connections. Instead, I was left in a death loop of an incomplete setup with no alternatives but to contemplate that perhaps I had died in my sleep and was caught in my own purgatorial death loop techno-hell. I soon realized that this last part was unlikely, and that this was entirely a Eufy software fail. As you know, brave readers, even the best hardware is useless if the software sucks, and this software super-super-sucks. I legitimately expected this purchase to be a gateway into other Eufy products for my home. But I'll never know if the camera was easy to install beside my door, or if the resolution and lighting was appropriate and responsive, because I never even peeled the sticker off of the camera itself—everything went right back into the box and was promptly returned. I wish I could bill Eufy for the lost hours of product research, price tracking, and attempted setup. Instead, I will ensure that no one I know ever buys Eufy products again, and will revisit Ring and other options.
