The Fire HD 10 tablet is a solid choice for those seeking an affordable yet capable device for entertainment and casual use. With its 10.1-inch full HD display, the tablet delivers vibrant colors and sharp images, making it a great option for streaming videos, browsing the web, or reading e-books. The screen is sufficiently bright for indoor use, although it may struggle in direct sunlight. One of the standout features of the Fire HD 10 is its performance. Powered by a decent octa-core processor and 3GB of RAM, the tablet handles basic tasks and multitasking with ease. Apps load quickly, and navigation is generally smooth, though it may lag with more demanding applications. Battery life is impressive, lasting up to 12 hours on a single charge, which is perfect for extended use without the need for frequent recharging. Additionally, the Fire HD 10 supports Alexa, allowing users to control smart home devices, set reminders, and ask questions hands-free. The tablet runs on Amazon's Fire OS, which is a customized version of Android. While it offers access to Amazon's ecosystem, including Prime Video, Kindle, and Amazon Music, the lack of Google Play Store can be a drawback for those who rely on specific Android apps. The build quality is good, with a sturdy design that feels durable. However, the tablet is relatively heavy compared to some competitors, which may impact portability for some users. Overall, the Fire HD 10 tablet is an excellent option for budget-conscious consumers looking for a versatile device for media consumption and light productivity. While it may not compete with higher-end tablets in terms of performance and app availability, it offers great value for its price.

I Will Never Buy Another Amazon Device
By June Bug on Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2025
I have owned several different brands of tablets over the years, and decided a few years ago to purchase a Fire tablet when they were on sale. What a big mistake. After looking it over soon after purchase, it was pretty uninteresting, so it sat on my dresser in my bedroom for pretty much the first year. Sometime later, I did notice that it had some issues with the graphics card because there were problems with the screen. There was a line down the center. Mind you, this tablet has sat on my dresser since I bought it and I have no children or anyone else to mess with it, so anything that has gone wrong on it, is the fault of the manufacturer. After rebooting it a few times and changing the display settings, somehow it seemed to have fixed itself. Also, there was an issue with it restarting on its own. I would shut the tablet completely down and in the middle of the night I would hear a "ding" coming from my dresser informing me that it was online and downloading notifications. How does the tablet start up all by itself? My thoughts were that maybe the tablet was a return from someone who had purchased it before, hacked it, and then send it back to Amazon and I ended up with it. I could not figure out how my tablet kept turning itself on when I had completely shut it down as instructed by the Amazon website. I downloaded an antivirus program from the Amazon app store and installed it and then shut it off again. After some updates, I didn't hear the tablet turn itself on in the middle of the night any longer, but there would be times when I would go into the bedroom and it would be on. Creepy. Since then I pretty much only opened it to get the updates for the software, operating system, and the virus definitions. In the past month or two, I started using it to play a game that I had purchased. So instead of sitting in the bedroom, it's been sitting on my kitchen table everyday and I would use it to play the game while I was cooking dinner. It was working great up until this afternoon when I turned it on, opened my game and all hell broke loose. The tablet acted as if someone was controlling it while I was trying to use it. So I put it in airplane mode because it was behaving as if someone may have hacked my network and they had control over the tablet, but since I put it into airplane mode and it will still doing it, then I knew that wasn't it. After searching on my phone for these symptoms on the Fire tablet and what could be causing it, I guess it's pretty common that there are issues with the touch screen going bad. Now, I have had this tablet for a few years now, but as I mentioned before I haven't used it. I did buy myself a large Samsung tablet soon after I had bought the Fire tablet, and if I needed to use one I used the Samsung and I love it, so up until this past month or two, I've not used the Fire tablet except to maybe get on it and update it and then set it back on the dresser. I followed all of the instructions that I could find online regarding the touch screen issue but nothing was working so I factory reset the device, which was -- let me tell you -- nearly impossible because the tablet acted as if it was possessed and kept opening different apps, the browser, and I had a very difficult time choosing what I needed to in order to get it to reset. After I reset the tablet, it acted normally and I thought it was okay, but about 5 minutes later I started up again. Not only was it choosing all sorts of apps and selections on the tablet but the screen would dim every once in awhile too. Now, I have probably only turned this tablet on, whether it was for 5 minutes or for an hour, maybe 60 days all together. So you have to imagine how disappointed I am to find that this device only lasted two months until it took a huge crap and now I can't get it to do anything as it's constantly selecting something else other than what I'm putting my finger on on the screen and you simply can't control it. I'm ready to just throw the dang thing out the window. Seeing how Amazon has screwed us over on the Music app, raised the Prime membership until it's almost unaffordable, and is constantly bombarding us with ads on everything, I guarantee you I will never, EVER purchase another Amazon device for the rest of my life. I had a Gen 1 Echo device that worked *perfectly* up until last year when it was suddenly having problems connecting to my network one afternoon and I thought, "you know I don't think I've reset this device but maybe once since I've owned it, maybe I should". BIG MISTAKE. The perfect device, the very first Amazon device that I ever purchased, that I LOVED and used *on a daily basis*, was gone forever after I reset it because Amazon decided that they would no longer allow us to use the device again if we reset it, so now it's nothing more than a door-stop. So after they left my Gen 1 Echo device unusable, I bought not one, but TWO expensive, Google assisted, JBL/Harman Kardon speakers, and I use YouTube Music to play my music on these from now on. I won't touch Amazon Music with a 10-ft pole. Amazon gets a lot of money from me. Not only do I have my annual Prime membership, but I also buy my parents a Prime membership every year and I bought all of their devices. I have been a member of Amazon since they were a bookstore. And the only reason I spend so much money there is because I'm disabled and cannot get out and shop in a brick and mortar store without a great deal of effort -- so they kind of have me there, but I will never spend another dime on an Amazon device after this. This was the last stinking straw.
