It's crazy fast and has great features!

I've always wanted a Samsung Note phone but never wanted to spend over a $1300 for a phone. Thanks to Prime Day I was able to snag this Note Ultra 5G for a little over $1000 and I'm glad I did because it is SUPER FAST! I upgraded from an LG G7 ThinQ and even though that phone was fast with only 6 GB of RAM, this one is amazingly fast with 12Gb of RAM. The scrolling is beautiful thanks to the 120hz refresh rate. I really like the fingerprint reader on the screen. It's super fast and accurate. The face recognition also works very well and allows for alternate "looks." The S Pen is my favorite because of the handwriting feature. Taking notes has never been easier! The text extraction feature is so helpful for copying and pasting text from images. The S pen is like a tiny magic wand! I love it. π₯° I wasn't a fan of the edges of the screen because with gestures on, accidental touches were making the phone back out. However that was fixed with a phone case and now I'm happy. Update 02/14/21: This phone is so useful when it comes to work and college. Multitasking is smooth with the 12GB RAM so it never freezes or slows down. I work with Word and Excel and the apps available have full functionality allowing me to do all the things that I can do on a desktop. My favorite app is the Samsung Notes app, which allows me to import PDFs that I can mark up with the S Pen, making note taking easy. This phone is amazing! I will keep this phone until "the wheels fall off." π

Hate the Camera Bump
By fanight on Reviewed in the United States on September 25, 2020
I knew this thing had a big camera when I bought it, but I thought I could get used to it. I can't. I hate it. Hopefully, I can find a suitable case to make it tolerable. I prefer to use my phone without a case, and you can't use this without a case. I will NEVER buy another phone with a camera sticking out of it. For reference I am coming from an S8+, which I really liked (except for the fingerprint sensor location). Ok, the good: - I surprisingly LOVE the stylus and its responsiveness. I didn't plan to use it at all, but find myself picking it up for note-taking, doodling, and just tapping around all the time. (Samsung, you got this exactly right!) - The screen is big and beautiful. - The processor and RAM in this phone make it super snappy. - Samsung has improved its OS. - The sound is much better than my previous Galaxy S. - The matte back does not showcase your fingerprints. - Wifi 6 & 5G -> excellent connection speeds. The bad: - The volume and power buttons are on the same side, and the volume button is above the power button. It is a wierd configuration and looks and feels silly. - The power button doubles as a Bixby (why do you even exist?) button. - This phone seems EXTRA sensitive on the edges. I have never had problems on Samsungs edge phones before, but this one registers random touches particularly on the top right. It's bad, and it messes me up a lot when I'm in the middle of something. - The battery is not bad, but it's meh. I could probably adjust some settings to make it better, but out of the box, it is not really impressive. - The big one -- The camera bump is GROSS. I really can't say enough bad things about this camera bump. Again, I knew it was big and I thought I could get used to it, but it's worse than I thought. - The camera bump - The camera hill - The camera mountain Overall, I am seriosuly tempted to return or sell this phone. I have had it for a little over two weeks and I just can't get over the akward camera and ghost touches on the edge. In terms of performance, screen, and features, I love this phone. IN terms of design, it may be the worst I've owned. What would make it perfect: No bump -- make the phone a touch bigger if you need to (it's a phablet), but for the love of everything holy, get rid of the camera bump; fix the button layout (ideally, scrap Bixby completely while you're at it); fix sensitivity on the edges; and make these things dual SIM with simultaneous SD card. UPDATE: The glass on the back of the phone is incredibly susceptible to breaks. I had the phone in a big honking case and a few weeks after a drop I went to change the SIM card and realized that back is cracked really bad. It appears to have originated from, wait for it, the area around the HUGE camera bump. Again, this thing had been in a huge case with rasied edges around the camera bump. I've seen several complaints elsewhere on the intenet about the fragility of the back of this phone. SUPER dissapointed!
