Rock solid

After several years of buying gimmicky car phone mounts made with cheap plastic that eventually fell apart, I was looking to spend more for something that wouldn’t have to be replaced every year. I came across Ram mounts when I bought an airplane yoke mount for an iPad. I was really impressed with the mostly metal construction and rock solid feel. So I spent the extra money for this car phone charger/stand. I love the fact that it’s super solid. When the phone is locked in it’s extremely secure, there’s no wobble between the holder and the suction cup that attaches to the window. I also love the fact that I can swap out the suction cup with a new one if it wears out (or an entirely different attachment if needed). Charging seems fine and my iPhone 12 Pro Max fits after I removed the lower plastic rest (which is removable and not really needed). I haven’t gone on any epic road-trips to see if it will charge faster than my phone drains, but it does seem to increase my charge as I drive around town. I like that I can physically turn off the unit with a switch but do note the cable is short (but can be extended with a cheap USB cable). I have not tested if it’s waterproof since this is used inside my car. The only downside is it does require two hands to mount or remove my phone. That hasn’t been an issue for me but it might be for some people. All in all, it’s a lot of money but I’m really impressed with its stability and build quality and I would 100% buy this again.

This will overheat your phone.

This product does exactly what it says it will do, wirelessly charges your phone in a very stable mount that is ideal for off-roading or if you live in an area where you experience a lot of vibration in your vehicle. Unfortunately, for some reason, it seems to constantly overheat the battery while charging, which then shuts down the charging function, and it will not start charging again until your battery cools off. This is a good safety feature, the problem is, it happens constantly. This can be very irritating if you are doing something where you need your phone on constantly, such as for food delivery services or rideshare services. If your phone screen is on constantly, it makes it very difficult to charge your phone wirelessly, as it constantly overheats using this device. Never had that problem with it being just wired straight up to the plug itself.
