I have four ANC Earbuds... The BudsLive are my fave. Here is why.
By SHR on Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2020
So I have been on the search for a pair of earbuds that meet certain criteria. 1. Must be comfortable for up to 6 hours. 2. Must sound good. 3. Must bring some level of noise cancellation. I use an iPhone 11. I bought the following buds: 1. Apple AirPods Pro 2. Samsung BudsLive 3. Master and Dynamic MW07 Plus 4. Sony WF-10000XM3 After spending time with all four, with my iPhone, the first to get the cut? The Apple AirPods Pro. I did not like these at all. They would, no matter what tip I used, create any kind of seal. This meant they fit horribly, sounded tinny, and had no effect with ANC. This is only due to the fact that they do not fit my ear. I even purchased several 3rd party tips, none changed these. The design, for me, fails. Again, that's my ears. I have large ears, and always need the largest tip with any earbuds to get good sound. The AirPod Pro's were my least fave. Next up were the much raved about Sony WF-10000XM3 which I thought sounded so much better than the Apple's and I even preferred the design, though they seem a tad large. Big sound, a great seal and the best ANC of these four sets. The negative with the Sony is the size and design. They look like an old school bluetooth earpiece. But value wise, these are home runs. I used the largest eartip and the sound was big, bold and deep. The ANC was very good though not even close to the over the ear Sony's. But, after 2 hours they started to hurt my ears. Next, the Master and Dynamic MW07PLUS. These are amazing in design and style. They are the best made as well, but they are not comfy for any long period of time. These are the largest and heaviest buds of the ones I have tried, and while they fit better than the Apple pros's, and sounded much better, the noice canceling does nothing, and there is no kind of real transparency mode as the one included doesn't work well. For sound, these best all of th buds I am testing out. Beautiful sound, and amazing battery life. Best of the lot. But when it comes to comfort, these are hard to wear for long. I ordered new eartips to see if I can get an even better fit as I always have to fiddle with them after a few minutes to reseal. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Live. I was attracted to the bean style, and bought a pair in black. These are the smallest of them all, and the case is as well. I read reviews saying they sound tinny, or there is no noice cancelation. The opposite is true for me. I think these are meant for larger ears like mine as these are the only buds to fit in my ear like a velvet glove. They paired easily to my iPhone and the sound blew me away. They were second best in sound, beating the Sony and Apple's but falling short of the M&D. These have the loudest volume of all as well, which means I can listen at 40% rather than 90% (with the M&D as they do not go very loud). These present a warm leaning sound with fantastic deep bass. Not the most definition or detail but they sound pleasing. The ANC works, and is noticeable. It's not hard to hear. The reason why others do not hear a difference is they are not fitting in the ear right. My wife, she can not use these as they are too large to fit in the ear. So for some, these will not fit and hence you will have weak sound, lack of bass and notice no ANC. When these are in, and music is at 30% I hear NOTHING from the outside world. When music is off, sounds from fans, AC or things of that nature are dropped nearly in half. The app is easy and intuitive and works great on my iPhone. The best thing is, these fit in the ear and never move, I never need to adjust, and they look cool, sound great and offer nice sound cancelation. I am keeping the beans. The BudsLive are my pick from the four I tested out. For my ears. For comfort these are the best for me. For sound. these are the second best for me. For price, they are the least expensive yet they look the nicest in the ear. The MW07 Plus are my next faves for the gorgeous audiophile like sound quality but they lack in volume and bass so many will not prefer this sound. The Sony's feel dated by comparison with all of these, and my guess is Sony is working on the M4's which I feel will be smaller and of course, improved. For me, I love the little beans. I much prefer them to the AirPods Pro which were. my least fave of the bunch.

Terrible product

You know how you read all these positive reviews for a product, and then find one reviewer who has nothing good to say - and you wonder if it's the reviewer? Well, this time it's me. I received these buds very promptly. I had trouble getting them to connect properly via Bluetooth to my iPhone 11. So I called customer support. After 45 minutes of trying unsuccessfully, the tech finally decided the pair I had were defective and recommended I return them. So I did and ordered another pair. And had the exact same problem. Nothing I could find on line was of any help. So I called customer support again - and again, after 45 minutes, they couldn't solve my problem. The next day, before returning them, I tried again, clicked on a non intuitive place - and they connected. So much for customer support. Then I tried them out. I found almost immediately that the sound (which was a major reason I chose these after reading the Consumer Reports review, which raved about the sound quality) was very disappointing - very tinny, no matter which sound setting I switched to on the app. By accident, I found that if I covered the mike with my finger, the sound was excellent. Needless to say, it's not very practical to hold my fingers to my ears while listening to music. Trying to find why the sound is so poor, I found on Samsung's site that one should use the buds with the "wingtips". The site stated that wingtips of different sizes are included. Not true. Only one pair was included in the box, and they are extremely difficult to get on. They did not improve the sound at all. And once they're on and the buds are back in the case - the case doesn't close. Then there's the wonderful tap technology - tap once, the music stops, etc. It took me quite a while to get it to work (you need to tap on the side, not the top, as instructed). But there's a delay anytime you tap, the command is not followed immediately. So for a second you don't know if the tap worked or not - since often it doesn't. I also tried the noise cancellation feature. I may not have tested it fairly, as I was at home, and just turned sound on on a video on my laptop. I didn't notice any sound reduction. You want some pros? The buds are very attractive - I got the black, which are more like hematite (kind of a pearlized black). And they sit very well in my ears and don't seem likely to pop out. They're comfortable, although you can definitely feel their weight. Needless to say, I'm returning these buds. I'm amazed at how useless they are.

I've had these buds now for about 5-6 months. I love them! I've used other Samsung buds like the pro series and such, and those are great too. However, the pro buds and other knock off brands always ended up annoying my ears physically. They often would come loose or require me to almost constantly adjust them in my ear. These buds however are completely different for me. First off, I do want to say that I don't really use these for calls. That being said, I have made use of them for a few conversations and overall they worked well enough for me. Clear audio in ear and the people I talked to seemed to not have issues hearing me. I use them primarily for music or media audio and often in a loud environment (machinery, automaton noise). The sound these buds produce is deep and great. Iwas very surpass at the sound quality. The noise cancelation is good but they aren't meant to silence the outside world. So if that is something you're looking for, these aren't the best in that aspect. However, they work great to make sure the audio you want hear is clear and easy to understand above wherever/whatever you will be using them around. They can only noise cancel if you use both at the same time. Using noise cancelation will deplete battery quicker too, just fyi. Most importantly, these buds are comfortable. I can wear one or both for 8-10hrs straight and my ears will be totally fine. Nothing from the buds inserts or presses into your canal or skin, they simply rest inside your ear. Even after wearing them for hours, they haven't accidentally fallen out yet! I don't have any mods or skins for mine, but they exist. The buds do come with a couple size bits you can swap out for optimal comfort. The battery life of the buds is good, they can actively operate for just about 8hrs straight from 100% charge. I typically use one bud at a time and it will last all day. The case holds multiple charges for the buds from 5% back to 100% and it charges them quite fast. The case takes the most time to recharge maybe about an hour and a half or more from 0%, but that's not too bad (using a 30w anker). The case charges one bud from 5 or less percent to 100% in under an hour, maybe even 30min. Feature wise, the pro line offers more, but those are typically double the price of these and again I feel they are less comfortable than these. I don't use the touch features, but they are all there and work well. It's a personal preference, I just don't like the touch features on any buds in general. These buds are also easy to clean. If you're looking for comfort I would highly recommend these. The sound they offer is great, and overall for price and features it's a good deal!

These are a great pair besides the ones you get in stores at the cell place. My husband lost his he for when he purchased his phone and still has these and they work in great condition. They fit perfectly in his ear to where he forgets he even has them in. They don’t take long to charge at all but he charges his over night and they can go up to three days without charge, the volume is definitely there cause I can sit next to him in the car and hear music or notifications going off on his phone. They connect to his phone as soon as one is out of the case . He loves them! Will purchase again if ever needed

To get started I am going to discuss how these felt at the beginning. When I first put these on, I had a difficult time getting to putting the buds in my ears. It was not very intuitive. I could get it to stay put after moving it around for while. It felt comfortable once in but if I were to take it off the same struggle would occur for the next 15 times. Once I got use to it was a little easier. Once I got use to it I was moving around doing chores, and it felt comfortable. Then i bent over and the bud felt out of my ear. I then switched to the larger wing tips. Once those were in it did feel a long more secure but in exchange i felt the presence of the buds a lot more. I have had them in my ears like 8-9 hours today, and yes my ears do feels a little tired. Touch controls are very sensitive. Usually with other buds, when my ears are fatigued and i use touch controls, it would hurt quite a lot since you are pushing the silicone tip further into your ear with every press. With these buds, while fatigued, the press of the touch control does still inflict some pain, but not nearly as much. I am not no way an audiophile, but i find the audio more than satisfactory. The ANC feature does not cancel out noise as many would expect. Where the ANC comes into handy is sound quality and phone calls. I made a couple of phone calls and asked the person how the audio sounds after ANC on and off with a fan blowing on my face. They all said it sounded extremely better with it on. Another area where I find these buds great is in low latency. Yesterday before I got these buds, i was mirroring amazon prime to my Roku through my phone. You typically cannot connect bluetooth headphones directly as they only connect to Roku Speakers. However, what you could do is private listening on the roku. This is where you play the audio of the Roku TV on your phone. This is where you can pass the audio to your Bluetooth headphones. Yesterday, I was using my overear headphones Sony WH-1000XM2 for that audio. The latency is this context for the Sony's was horrible. Not even close to anime voices that i was watching. With the Galaxy Buds Live, there is not latency whatsoever. Even without the low latency feature. Now I'm going to discuss battery life. The battery life dropped to 16% after just a few hours of use. This saying 3 or 4 hours. However, i was actively listening to music and testing Bixby through these headphones, with ANC on. This was with ANC and Voice Wake-Up on the entire time which will drain the battery dramatically. I charged it completely probably sometime under an hour. My final rant is going to be the Bixby Voice Command. Eventhough i do not use any voice assistant on my Galaxy S9+. I believe Bixby has major potential. In my opinion it could be one of next moves to a greater Samsung ecosystem. The main selling point of Bixby is that it has tight integration with the settings in Samsung Devices. It does it far better than most of the other assistants, but still not good enough. Now, in my opinion, with the Galaxy buds live it is worthless. It did follow some commands to play certain songs on YouTube and to play the next song. However, it fails in the most basic command that the majority of us will use. Volume up and down. It failed everytime to turn down and up the volume. This is something that could be fixed with a software update later down the line. If Samsung is going to push Bixby on to us by not allowing us to switch assistance (without the press of a button that is), then please get these basics right! I feel like this is a great opportunity for Samsung to improve on Bixby to able to closely compete with at least with Siri and the Google Assistant giant. One little last comment on the fit, these stay extremely comfortable in my ear far more than its predecessors. After a couple of hours in the ear, the buds will tend to shift away from the correct position. You will need to move it back but nothing to extreme. I hope my review help those wanting to buy these buds.

Alright.. This review had to be cut to multiple sections because so much can be said about them. Biggest take-away: Point (3)! (1) When I initially put on these buds, the sound was wayyy low. On Day 2, I swapped the ear tips and all the sounds are SO much louder, mainly because the fit is so extremely important when wearing these buds! Just a tiny bit off and the sound is completely gone. (2) The battery life is just an absolute beast.. Getting at the minimum 5 hrs but I never passed 3 hrs simply because I have arrived to my destination by then. I only have had the earbuds for a day, so this review will get updated whenever I do get more use in. (3) Bass: At initial use, the bass was basically not even present especially since these are open set earbuds. PLEASE DO THIS TO GET MORE BASS!!! I have no idea why this worked so magically because I was simply playing around with the Galaxy Wearable App (remember to also download the Galaxy Bud Live plugin when the app asks). When you enter the wearable app, go to Labs. When in Labs TURN ON Relieve Pressure with Ambient Sound. THIS LITERALLY WENT FROM 20% BASS TO 90% BASS IDK WHY BUT DO IT IF YOU WANT BASS!!! (4) Overall Sound Quality: This is hard to judge, but as for my gaming PC, I purposely have an open-ear headset so that it widens my soundstage and the sound simply is better in my personal opinion. When I got these earbuds, it was sort of like having speakers blasting at me in but without everyone else hearing it. In other word, unlike most of the earbuds I've used that has a passive seal for noise cancelling, these allow for very good spatial awareness. You can also tell how loud you are speaking to a person because you don't have as tight of a seal from these earbuds. (5) Active Noise-Cancelling: Everyone is saying these earbuds don't have good Active Noise-Cancelling and they are sort of true, as long as you know how to use it. After figuring out the trick in Point (3) of this review, I started to notice that the Active Noise-Cancelling started to work wonders. The increased bass helped to drown out some of the higher notes. I still hear them of course, but a whole lot less when that Ambient Sound option is turned on. (This option just single handedly made my experience with these 10x better than I had initially anticipated!!) (6) Comfort: Very subjective, but at first these were not that comfortable with the smaller eartip that came with the earbuds. After changing them to the larger and circular ones, these went from uncomfortable to "I can wear these to sleep and not be painful tomorrow morning". I literally walked to work and forgot I was still wearing them until someone told me 1/2 an hr later why I was still wearing them **embarrassed** but you get the idea! Note: These are my first pair of expensive earbuds as the others were all $20-$50 sets. My overall experience with these earbuds went from "okay, but low-end earbuds could do the same thing" to "I see why I paid the price and I don't regret whatsoever". Buy these and look no further if you're okay with having spatial awareness when outside!! I wanted these specifically so that I can still hear what's going on around me without having to take out 1 or both of my earbuds for safety reasons.
Literally the headphones that I have been waiting for.

I have been an Apple Airpod user for a few years now and I have been dying to upgrade, but until now there really just wasn't a good alternative. What I loved about Airpods was that they fit my ears perfectly, I know that really varies for everyone but for me they were really just the best fitting earbuds I could find. I really wanted something from an Android device manufacturer, but at the time there wasn't anything comparable. I have to admit though that even though I was missing out on a lot of the extra features, as simple bluetooth headphones they just worked really well. Fast forward a few years I have been really wanting to get a new pair of headphones, the Airpods are seriously showing their age and the batteries are slowly dying. The problem I was having was that up until now all of the nicer but reasonably priced headphones use those little silicone tips and I can't stand them. They make my ears feel clogged up and itchy. My wife got some of the original Galaxy Buds and I gave them a try. Ultimately they were really nice but I just can't deal with those tips. That's why when I first saw the leaks of these a few months ago I just knew I had to have them. I have been following them and just waiting for them to come out. ... and now they're here. My initial thoughts are that they sound so much better than the Airpods and fit my ears even better. I love the fact that the whole thing is very small and there's nothing dangling out of your ears. I haven't played with the assistant or noise cancelling yet, I mainly just care about using them as normal headphones, but I will definitely update this after I have had some more time with them. So far the only drawback to me is that the case is noticeably bulkier than the Airpods case. I really wish they would have at least stuck with the Original galaxy buds style of case, which was thicker too but also longer and narrower, but It's not a deal breaker or anything. If anything having USB C and wireless charging more than make up for the increased size. And yes I know that the newer Airpods have wireless charging... but I have the really old ones. Overall I am very happy with these so far and I can't wait to put them through their paces. ------- Two week update------ So far still happy with the new buds and 99% of the time they have worked flawlessly. However there do seem to be some odd quirks that pop up occasionally. One time when using them one of the ear buds somehow went out of sync with the other one by like a half a second. So I would hear something in one ear then hear just a littler later in the other one. The effect was like having a constant echo in my head. But disconnecting and reconnecting the buds fixed the issue and that was the only time so far that has happened. Also, the bluetooth seems a little on the weak side. For example when I have my phone in my left pocket and my right ear bud in, the signal drops out like crazy. However if I switch buds or move my phone to the other pocket the issue goes away. So again not a big deal but it just something I never had an issue with when using Airpods. Overall I am still happy with them and other than these little quirks they have been fantastic. I would still highly recommend them but just be aware they're not perfect.

No noise cancelling, have connection issues, sound mediocre

I don't usually write review on amazon, but I was just really not happy with what samsung is doing here. First of all, let me introduce myself, I am a audiophile that has experienced and owned quite a lot audio equipment from extreme high end ones (the $50,000 hifiman Shangri la system), to flagship overear/in ear (beyerdynamic T1, xelento) that cost around $800 today, to extreme cheap ones like the under $10 ve monk. But I am NOT the type of audiophile that only nitpicking sound quality in his/her subjective way and care nothing about comfort, longevity, good features etc. Far from that, I value a good fit and comfort over many other qualities. and for certain type of headphones, I value features like convenience, noise cancelling over sound quality. But I have a MINIMUM BAR of sound quality of course. HERE COMES THE REVIEW of the galaxy buds live: OVERALL: 2/5 I give it overall 2 out of 5 because there are products (namely galaxy buds+) that's better then this in nearly every way and has lower price. And buds live has its own issues. COMFORT and FIT: 3/5 IN SHORT, need some work to adjust the fit, some parts irritates skin after long wearing. If you absolutely can not wear in-ear earphones, then this is not bad and this is pretty much your only choice for true wireless headphones along side the original air-pods. But the issue is, everywhere this little thing touches your ear is hard plastic except for the tinny little rubber tip that sits in the upper part of your outer ear. And that rubber part has a pretty small contact area, your ear will be irritated for usage over 30 min or so. And it's not the easiest earphones to adjust its position correctly and securely, you'll find yourself adjust it quite a lot before you can finally enjoy your music. And the fit affects the sound quality a lot, by a lot I mean if you don't push down the lower part to ensure the speaker is as close to your ear canal as possible, this thing would sound bass light, and if you push it down all the all, it's absolutely bass heavy. I can imagine different people hearing quite different sound from it because of there ear shape. There's a reason for high-end ear-buds all using in-ear design. ADD: the case is among the smallest, which is a plus. but it's not a standout quality in 2020 FEATURES: 1/5 IN SHORT: noise isolation is worse then regular in-ear headphones without active noise cancelling feature. and touch controls are usable but nothing special. The buds live should NOT be advertised as a noise cancelling headphones, this is one of the two reason I'm writing this review. In fact, the noise cancelling level is substantially worse then the galaxy ear buds+ which has no noise cancelling feature. pretty much ANY in-ear headphones will isolate better then buds live. The touch control and all other small feature set are nothing special, usable and usual is the word I would give. THE ESSENTIALS for true wireless headphones 3/5 IN SHORT: good battery life, unstable connection, short connection range. the good thing is the battery life is good, not the best, but good for most. around 6 - 8 hours without noise cancelling on. The connection however, is not good. a lot of the time it has syncing issues when connected to my windows computer, usually put them back in case would solve the problem, this problem is quite frequent that it would annoy you quite a bit. And non of my other true wireless headphones have this issue, at least not to the extent that it annoys me. Connect to my galaxy s10 have much less issue though, only have sync issue when switching from device to device occasionally. The connection range is not good too, the signal cuts off completely when I walk from my desk to the bathroom, and for the reference, at the same spot at my bathroom, my airpods pro works normally without any signal loss, my galaxy buds+ would buzz in and out a bit. THE SOUND: IN SHORT: acceptable, 3/5 The sound I would describe as V shaped, somewhat muddy in low to mid frequency. average resolution, a better then average sound stage and imaging. I feel the driver in this has potential, but it's restricted by the ear bud design choice, since this thing has no seal, they have to adding quite a lot of bass by eq/dsp to compensate for it. And I think they overdone it, and ironically, the bass is certainly plenty in terms of quantity, but it doesn't have the smooth, fast and deep extension quality that comes out of galaxy buds+ from samsung themself. The mids are overshadowed by the lows. simple as that. The highs are average, nothing exciting about it. The sound stage are good for in-ear, imaging are above average too, but the lack of detail (which is understandable for a bluetooth heaphone without aptX or LDAC support) means you can't really pinpoint, and the muddy bass is not helping. Conclusion: this is a complete downgrade from the galaxy buds+ I have. It's harder to wear, less comfortable except for people who cannot withstand in-ear design. It has shorter battery per charge, from around 12 hours from buds+ to around 7 hours from buds live. It has worse noise isolation, which is unacceptable since it's in the advertise. The sound quality is average, not nearly as good as galaxy buds+ in terms of bass and mids, somewhat at the same level in highs and soundstage. And buds live has a higher price tag. And these two product come from the same company, which annoys me quite a bit. What's the thinking behind it, samsung and your AKG department? advertising? something new? "the new open ear noise cancelling?" it's just wrong in my opinion. My recommendation for true wireless headphones as in time of writing this review: The utility beast: airpods pro Pros: 1. Probably the most stable and furthest connection from named brand, for ios, or for android and windows. Very good audio/video latency, which makes it very usable for mobile/casual gaming, or even just watching video. 2. A solid noise cancelling and transparent, natural sounding is the word I would call the feeling of both noise cancelling and transparent mode. The mic quality is also among the best if not the best in true wireless. 3. A comfortable fit. less pressurized feeling then most in-ear headphones. a bit chunky, so not the most comfortable for your long session listening, but if you don't jam it too hard into your ear, you can listen to airpods pro for quite a long time, over 2 hours I would say. 4. A relaxing and enjoyable sound. it's doesn't have much detail/resolution, lack some high notes in particular, average sound-stage, not very pin-point in imaging, too. But I gotta say, it sounds good enough, even for audiophile like me. Part of the reason is the noise cancelling helps to make sure you can hear as much performance as it can offer. The other part is that the tuning is just easy to listen to, a good bass extension without too much mid-bass, a bit mid-forward makes the vocal stand out, which is good for a lot of the mainstream pop music, a reduced high makes it easy to enjoy your music for a long period of time during travel. And the sound is also very consistent, a deeper or shallower insertion doesn't affect it much. Cons: less then 5 hour of usage per charge might not enough for some. and really, besides not "great" sounding for those who can not withstand anything less then true audiophile quality, that's the only shortcoming I can think of. A taste into audiophile world: galaxy buds / buds+ Yes I have own both buds/buds+ Pro: 1. good fit and comfort, low-profile looking. You may feel a little pressure when you first put them like most in-ears. But they are by far the most comfortable true wireless earphones for long listening sessions. 2. Great sounding. I challenge you to find in-ear headphones that sounds significantly better then these, wired or wireless. Especially for the original galaxy buds, As they are under $100 today and honestly, besides bass not as deep as buds+, I prefer the sound of the original galaxy buds since the mids are not as recessed and highs are more smooth comparing to buds+. sound stage and imaging are both very good in buds/buds+; 3. Great battery life per charge and good mic quality. over 12 hours of battery life per charge and a good enough mic quality is the reason you buy buds+ over buds Cons: connection and range are not the best (but totally usable). battery in case only provides one more charge for both buds/buds+. so if you forget to put your buds/buds+ in the case once over night, you might lose half of your total battery life. For people need active noise-cancelling for travel, these don't offer the feature, (but it still block quite some noise for everyday use). For those considering sony and sennheisers's true wirelless, Consider the large size of them, they might not fit you, and the cases are quite large too. So I just don't bother trying them.
First Thought: Worried and Likely Returning These

After hearing the buzz and seeing the leaks on these over the last few months, I was anxiously awaiting their release. Now, with them in hand (or ears, rather), I have some serious concerns. I wanted these for the use of listening to music and equally, if not more importantly, for hands free phone calls. For the record: I have paired these with my Samsung S8 phones. I have alternated between two S8's and have found identical results Being a 100% Android and anti-Apple consumer, I can honestly say that Apple got it right with the AirPods. Not only for sound but for call transmitting and receiving audio quality. The Galaxy Buds Live may not be up to the same level in the call quality department. Call Quality: From my first call, the audio I heard from the caller sounded quite good. Then the audio I was hearing began to sound a bit distorted and I kept experiencing a lot of digital noise. What I found is, if I put my phone in my pocket, or I'm holding my phone and I put my hand down by my side, it almost seems like I lose connection or there is interference. As if the signal is poor. But, if I'm holding the phone upright, or almost right near my face, the sound seems fine. Shouldn't be like this. On the plus side, in comparison with my Bose headphones, multiple callers said these sounded equally as good on their end. Unfortunately, I have to rate the call quality as Very Bad at this point. After being sent a second pair, same exact issue. I am curious if this is some form of a software incompatibility issue with the Samsung Galaxy S8. Because the call quality is so poor, and I intended on using these heavily for calls, these are now likely to be returned. The Fit: Very interesting but nice. They're light, comfortable and once you trust that they won't fall out, you really feel like they're not even there. Music/Audio: Sounds great. I'm not a $1000 headphone audiophile. It needs to sound clear with your highs and mids defined and just good in general. Sound quality is very good. Here's the catch was that though. I started noticing the same signal issue that I was noticing with the call quality. While I was watching/listening to a YouTube video and I put the phone in my pocket or I walked away from the phone, mind you only a couple feet away, it seems like there's interference or the reception is bad. It cuts out constantly. Again, this shouldn't be happening. Active Noise Canceling: I'd have to say that my Bose QC35ii's are my benchmark for ANC. That bar is pretty high. The Galaxy Buds Live disappointingly offer little in terms of ANC technology. If you're looking for the same level if ANC that you get from a good pair of over the ear or in ear silicone tip ear buds, this will not measure up. I experimented with this. While sitting indoors, in a relatively quiet setting, you almost feel like you notice the ANC effectiveness. Walking down the street with moderate car/traffic noise, I noticed absolutely no ANC effect. Merely an automatic battery drain at best. Wearable App: Good. It would be nice to have a more dynamic equalizer option rather than the "canned" sound profiles. Overheating: I've yet to actually find information on this in the manual, but I believe that they have an overheating prevention feature where the individual earbud will begin beeping continuously in your ear. The audio playing, in my case a podcast, doesn't stop but a continuous beep begins. Not being able to figure out why, my best guess is that this is an overheating warning. I had been sitting outside and my left side was facing the sun. It was not excessively hot out and the actual left earbud did not feel warm or get warm in my ear. However, it repeatedly kept beeping. General Performance: - In the home office and around the house: Not bad. I enjoy the lightweight design. As long as my phone is in front of me and not in a pocket, audio and call reception and quality are good. - On the elliptical: Nice. Comfortable and stay in place. Slight movement as you build a bit of a sweat. - Outside for a walk: ANC is non-existent. I also notice wind noise if it's a little breezy. By breezy, I mean a very light and intermittent wind. Not a hurricane. - On a bicycle ride: Crazy wind noise. Very off-putting, unfortunately. - Online Microsoft Teams Meeting (Android App on S8): I was told that I sounded distant and the audio was thin. As soon as I disconnected and called the person directly, they said I sounded great. Summary: Very disappointed at this point. This is primarily due to the reception issues. The price point is great for what I had expected. However, for what they are, I'd just as soon spend much, much less for a set of wireless headphones since making calls with these simply doesn't seem to be a good feature, out of the gate. After running through all of the same with two separate sets of GBL's, using two different S8's, I've gotten identical results. I'm hoping that perhaps this may just be an S8 compatibility issue, as indicated earlier. I would enjoy editing this review to be nothing short of incredible, in the future. Because they are so new, Samsung telephone support couldn't be all that helpful. With these being, literally, on the market for only a couple of days, there wasn't a whole lot of trouble shooting assistance available. At this point, I've gone through two sets of these and have not seen a difference between the two. I'm torn whether or not I should return them. I so badly want them to work out. But, I'm finding that they're just not measuring up.
