Easy to Install and Works Great

With my wife and I both working from home and the kids starting school on-line, I upgraded our Internet bandwidth to 500mbps plan that would accommodate all the video calls that were going to be happening simultaneously. My old Nighthawk router couldn't handle the increased bandwidth even though it advertises up to 900mbps. I researched new mesh wifi 6 units and many were very expensive. The new Nighthawk mesh wifi 6 system had a range of different reviews but popped up on several on-line best of 2020 rankings and seemed to be a good value, so I bought it to try out. I've had the unit for about a week now and it has worked very well . It was easy to set up and I have a strong signal throughout my 3,200 sq ft home and in our back yard. As reviews state, the wifi is strongest near the base unit and diminishes the further away you get from it, but I've gotten wifi speed tests of up to 360mbps next to the base and the lowest it drops from the furthest points of my house and backyard is around 100mbps. I tried it again today while all four of us were on video calls with similar speeds. I'm very happy with my purchase so far.

Save your money for something better

First let me say I am not new to the IT game or home wifi. I am an IT Analyst by trade with 20+ years experience and have setup dozens of home wifi scenarios of my own, family and customers, so please don't blame "not working" on my skills or lack of know how. (just trying to save us all a little time with everyone telling me it's all my fault. My home setup: ISP Spectrum with 940MB down / 40MB up, 35+ devices, previous Plume Superpods for wifi5 mesh. I had and have gone back to Plume superpods as in the 3 systems I have tried it is the ONLY one that can seem to handle 35+ devices connected without any drops. With the Nighthawk system yesterday and last night it was a horror show. First, anything 2.4ghz, which is most of my IoT devices, would not connect at all. Call to support and I am told to turn off "AX" and implicit beam forming. Well pardon me but that is 2 of the newer features I was buying wifi6 for! Tried it anyway, and everything seemed fine until...... MyQ garage door openers in garage. Never had an issue until installing Nighthawk. With nighthawk, the CLOSER opener to the house, the one that should have the better signal, would not connect. Discovered that nighthawk, with MS60's in the SAME places that the plume superpods were, could not get it to connect! Fine, I used an old router as a wifi bridge and threw a signal to the garage and got it working. THEN, Roku in living room sitting right next to the MR60, the MAIN ROUTER, would not connect or change settings or remote work at all from my logitech harmony hub. Took 45 mins to get that working again. THEN, around 2am, all hell breaks loose and most of my IoT lighting starts to blink on and off. Master bedroom, Garage outdoor lights, etc. Dogs start barking because every IoT device in the living room has now gone offline and is blinking disconnect lights! Needless to say I am back to and using Plume. I will stick with Plume until they have a wifi6 device ready and then I will buy those. I have now tried Linksys and Netgear and NEITHER is ready for primetime with wifi6. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!
