Finally - clean tile floors- no streaks
By kennewickkooker on Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2020
This was a gift. I probably would not have purchased for myself because of the price. I am really glad I received this. I had been using a steam floor mop on a weekly or biweekly basis for about 8 years. (maybe the steam mop is wearing out) Supplemented by hands and knees scrubbing when the grout would not get clean. Steam floor mop either left floor sticky or streaky. I finally found a vinegar spray on the floor first helped. Though still not clean enough with steam mop. I won't do wet floor mop any more. I won't do swiffer any more, and I am not thrilled about crawling around on hands and knees. Steam mop - marginal results at this point (when I first got it - the results were better, and it was different tile) I read the reviews after I received the floor cleaner. And with some of the negative ones - I found the solution to their complaints in the instruction manual. Actually it was the you tube videos that really helped. You tube - much easier to follow instructions. And I never experienced mop heads flying off, or streaky floors for example. Have not had a week yet. First time I mopped - wow - it took the 20 minute battery time just to clean the kitchen. And then had to wait the 4 hour recharge time. The kitchen looked better, the mop water was dirty. The mop heads were dirty. I washed in sink, cleaned up the heads... Then I followed instructions and threw in clothes washer. I added a towel to stop the clanking. Wow - the mop heads came clean as a whistle as they say. And I remopped the kitchen a 2nd time, and the dirty water receptacle was much cleaner. And mop heads looked cleaner. Though threw them back in the washing machine since they come out so clean. I remember when I switched from the commercial wet mop cleaner - it took about 5 or 6 moppings to get rid of that sticky residue. Now that I have remopped the entire house to a nice clean status (about 1600 sq ft), I can mop the entire house (all Italian ceramic tile) in the 20 minute battery life. Someone said it would be shiny clean - it is more of a matte clean. It does say it cleans right to the edge. There is still a wee bit at the baseboards, I need to touch up by hand. I have ordered the other mop heads that are reported to help with the grout - they haven't arrived yet. Hopefully that will help clean the grout. I guess the comment about the detergent - do you have to use only theirs. The small amount that is needed - the bottle will last a long time. And since I have not had much luck with any other floor cleaner - I will probably stick with the Karcher detergent. My husband is very sensitive to loud noises, so I always had to wait for him to step outside to vacuum and then mop. It is not "silent", though he does not object to the sound. So, I would say it is not very loud. Now I only have to mop - it does the vacuuming while mopping (except for picking up stuff that falls on floor) And with multiple dogs in the house - there is dog hair, and the cleaner picks that up nicely. And you can really tell if I missed a spot - it is noticeably not as clean. I think it is a good product, and considering that, I don't mind the price. I am now much happier with how my floor looks. And it isn't a lot of work to achieve that nice look. - One happy customer.

Convenience was great and cleaning was made easier. But due to it's design, the neck broke the first time it fell.

Lightweight and works really well, especially on smooth floors

I have now had this for a month and am loving how easy it is to use. This leaves the floor dry enough to be fully dry in about 10 minutes and does a phenomenal job cleaning. The rollers that come with it are great for a smooth floor (tile with level grout or wood) but do not work nearly as well on an uneven floor (rough slate or depressed grout lines in the tile). They sell a "stone" set of rollers that works much better. Rollers are color-coded to go on the right side, but that is the only tricky part of set up. The base allows you to not only pre-wet the rollers (saving your mixed cleaning solution for the floor) but also to do a cleaning cycle when you are done. I can use this throughout the week then give the rollers a more thorough wash while the clean and dirty water containers get a full drying. CONS: 1) There is one angle for this mop to be held at that works well. Too high or low catches the plastic housing. It is a slightly high angle for my 5'5" height and would be annoying if I were 6' because I would have to stoop. 2) no way to leave the water containers open to the air while in the unit so mold is a potential issue down the line. 3) Can drip a bit while cleaning and removing rollers when you lay it down, but much less than the Bissell. PROS: 1) Much lighter than comparable units. Full of water, I would estimate this is about 12 lbs which makes it easy on shoulders. 2) Does an excellent job of cleaning regardless of whether I vacuum first or not. With three cats and three humans on a stone floor, there is lots of hair and cobwebs which the cleaner works with ease. No need for a seam ripper to clear hairs wrapped around the rollers, but sometimes drops lint balls. A quick cleaning cycle in the base gives the rollers a complete clean. 3) Can do two sets of clean water on one charge of the battery. Depending on how many things you have to work around, this would easily clean about 1500 square feet on a single fill of water or about 2500 square feet per charge. 4) Can be left with cleaning solution for the next round of cleaning. Dirty water is trivial to clean and rinse, but I am happy that I can leave the cleaning solution water for my next use.
BAD BATTERY & LOW CAPACITY = SHORT LASTING USE

UPDATE: BROKEN DEVICE!!! NOT REPAIRABLE! Purchased + Extensively Used : Kärcher FC 5 Electric Mop PROS: Colourful and good looking design CONS: Very weak battery power and low water capacity The battery lasts between 5-8 minutes and is not even enough to mop a large single room. The mop only works on battery. The mop does not function with the power attached either, which means it can only work on the battery, and cannot be used with the cord attached. There is no easy way to replace the battery, which means, the mop is practically useful for only about 5 minutes, with the remaining charge needed for the self-cleaning for about 2 minutes (if not cleaned, the wet mopping pads can develop mold and also begin to smell.).
Cleans tile and wood floors easily - but time consuming

This works better than a mop and less hassle than a Scooba. It is easy to use and leaves a clean floor. It has taken a few uses to fully remove residue from old cleaning products on the floor. It was foaming in certain rooms the first and second uses, but now the wood floors are brighter without the film. It is a hassle to take the unit apart for cleaning, but mostly because I rinse all the wet parts and set them aside to dry. I saw other reviewers mention rust and electrical issues, and I want to avoid that. Rollers go in the washing machine every other use or so. Assembly and Disassembly is simple. Update after 2 years - Water Dispensing stopped after 12 months. I can't figure out where the clog is or if the pump has failed. I spent a lot of time looking for the issue, which seems to be common. Meanwhile, a spray bottle in my hand has been my workaround. Now here is the real issue, given all the setup time and cleanup time at the end - I just don't use it as much as I should. I am ready to switch back to a sponge mop or pad mop and keep this for deep cleanings when I have time. It is best for large areas. You need the freedom to hold the unit at the correct angle to pick up the dirty water, and with the disassembly for cleaning, might as well do as much area as you can while the machine is out. The cleaning stand is a plus. I run the unit in the stand for a minute or two and it gets the worst off the rollers prior to disassenbly. Doubles for storage, but I have to wait for all to be dry. Takes up more space than a wall mount, but a wall mount wont pre-clean your rollers. Note that the charger/cord are unique. If you break the charger, it may be difficult to find a replacement with the correct connector. The only issue that I have is on my floor tile. I have 1/4" gap between tiles and it does not get up all the dirtly water. To be fair - I haven't found anything that does except a wipe with an old towel. I guess that is the curse of colored grout. I have not tried the special rollers for wide grout yet, but I don't think that they will absorb better. They are made with stiffer bristles to better clean the grout. I am looking forward to giving them a try to see if they can bring back some of the original grout color.
Excellent for smaller areas

While I have a house big enough to warrant the larger (and thus more expensive Karchers) I was reluctant to drop that much money on a new purchase. I shouldn’t have. This this is great! We have textured LVP flooring and I noticed that there was dirt and other gross stuff in the grooves. Our cleaning folks only use a wetjet, which is ok, but otherwise I have to use a scrub brush and clean floors by hand. With 2500 square feet, I don’t have time. The Karcher takes that need away. Your first clean you will likely have to do multiple passes and if you get the small Karcher, multiple water changes and battery charges. Just know that going in. Otherwise it is easy to use, clean and work with. I tried to zoom in so you can see the line where my kiddo who was helping went over the floor once and and then three times. Clear lines of the clean/vs dirty floor.
Not an upgrade for me

I've had the FC3 Cordless for s couple of years and it was the best floor cleaning machine I've ever had. That is NOT this unit. One day, the motor made a terrible loud noise and the rollers stopped spinning. I was ready to just buy another one, because it really was the best. Having 3, and at times, 4 dogs, my floors need frequent cleaning. I've had at least 5-6 other floor cleaners and they've all failed within the first year. I always try to troubleshoot anything broken, so I sent a message to Karcher support via their website. They responded quickly with a few clarifying questions, then said I was still within warranty time frame of 3 years. They have a program that just replaces the entire unit if you qualify. You have to destroy the original unit. Well, they said they sent the replacement FC3, but after 10 days, I requested a tracking number. Keep in mind, I still have 3 dogs running around and the floors were getting dirtier and dirtier. No one responded. It took another 6 days after that to arrive, so in the meantime, I ordered this FC5 Cordless. Everything I loved about the FC3 was non-existent in the FC5. FC5 is MUCH heavier, less agile and clunkier. The only real benefit is that the dirty water tank is larger. The worst part is that the parts you need to remove each time you use it are EXTREMELY difficult to remove. The clean water tank and the suction cover. I looked at product videos, thinking I was doing something wrong. I used it for nearly 3 weeks, trying to make it work. I almost never return items to Amazon, but this went back. The FC5 is supposed to be an upgrade for the FC3, but I couldn't have been more thrilled to go back to the FC3.

think of a very well organized household where floors are cleaned with this machine every week. Obviously the workload on this cleaning machine will be predictable and it will do its job as intended. The machine is doing everything that it says it will do that's why I gave it 5 stars. Other floor cleaning machines, especially the ones you buy are big store retailers and much worse. They dont clean very well to begin with, break easily and are some kind of limited use, disposable pieces of todays planned obsolescence after just a few uses. This cleaner is not like that, its well made and is almost commercial grade in quality. Almost. Lets be honest, if your house is as dirty as mine, this thing will struggle. It is not an industrial cleaning machine for serious grime. Get your house real clean first and then you can happily use this cleaner for very regular 'maintenance'.

This item seems a little heavy and only vacuums up liquids. Its weight has prevented me from showing my mom how to use it. Also I know that I must sweep the floor before using this item. That being said I like that it is cordless. Lastly it does seem to do a good job at cleaning the floor.

This is the second cleaner we've purchased which speaks highly for our satisfaction with this product. As you can see from the dirty water it's highly effective at cleaning - I had very recently cleaned the floor with a Swifter mop which I feel only pushes around the dirt and very minimally cleaned our floors - this is proof enough for me. Effective and efficient. My only concern is battery life, the time it takes to recharge and the two individual mop heads which leaves a small gap in cleaning. The gap is easy to fix by going over the gap with the mop head, not much to do about the battery except mop faster to get all my floor done in 45 minutes before recharging is required. Even with these deficiencies I highly recommend!
