ANC Negates XBS feature.
By JustMePSL on Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2020
The Panasonic RB-M700B, has 2 touted features XBS Bass(Enhanced Boomy Bass) and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC] The headphones are plush and very comfortable. They have an open air design unlike many headphones in the “Bass” arena. This headphone disappoints on many levels. The ANC feature is toggled on/off via a toggle on right ear phone with all other controls. The XBS feature has 4 levels. It’s advertised incorrectly on the specs. XBS can be set to Off/Low/Medium/High. The Bass is the kinda of thumping, sub that is becoming more popular. The closest models that I compare it to are the Sony wh-xb900n or Skullcandy Crusher ANC. So the really bad, most important fact is if you have XBS enabled, whatever bass this achieves is completely turned off in you enabled the ANC. It is the most ridiculous ANC feature for “Bass” headphone. The sound is much warmer than the other 2 heaphones mentioned. Most particularly the highs(treble)are not bright. That’s not my style. If you enjoy having a muffled, 2khz- 16khz and want some bass this might be the model for you. Personally I find this model to be very overpriced for such a disappointing ANC Bass headphone. If you like a warm sound, open air with reasonable added bass I’d recommend the lower RM-M500B. That model lacks the ANC feature and has a supposed longer playtime battery life. These are big bulky headphones that don’t collapse in any way, and don’t come with any type of case. Your money is much better spent on the feature rich Sony’s or if you want rattling bass go for the Skullcandy Crusher ANC. I listened to all the headphones with Premium Tidal, Deezer HIFI, and Spotify. I personally can’t choose between the Sony and the Crusher ANC so I have them both, for different listening experiences. I would strongly avoid this whole new line of headphones by Panasonic.
