Samsung products have been good choices for us for decades. My wife of 59 years has vision problems, and this new monitor was a special Christmas surprise to connect to her Microsoft tablet.We downloaded the instructions on how to handle and set it up and began the process the afternoon of the 25th.The assembly of the stand was quick and easy with the stand being a quality product. The Samsung shipping carton uses Styrofoam frames to nest the monitor from both front and back. We did notice loose particles and pieces of foam in the open box. The monitor itself is wrapped in a protective soft plastic material that we could lift up and see the back, note all the receptacles etc. everything looked good.We lifted the monitor out of the carton and sat it on its stand and immediately saw that the bottom trim was sticking out from right corner to the center. After running a live test, we determined that the damage took out the middle of the screen which always remained black. A completely failed Christmas surprise. Why did this happen because an untrained or otherwise Wearhouse person loaded the monitor into a much larger box with ZERO PACKING. Why does this matter because a 5" thick monitor box in a 13" deep box will bang up and down and with a 3" shorter length bang back and forth. Note both the shipping carton and the Samsung boxes were unharmed, yet the Monitor was severely damaged. Why would it ship in a much larger box maybe for security, camouflage, all well and good except why would not be protected from motion with some kind of packing, air pillows come regularly from Amazon but in this case NOTHING. We immediately repacked it exactly as received. Follow the excellent Amazon directions for return using the UPS pick up method as our only choice since we do have a smart telephone. One day later UPS picked it up but the problem for us was Amazon stated you must ship it back in the shipping carton it came in so is that with no packing causing even more damage. We do not have any packing material but do have waste rigid foam insulation so properly supported the Monitor box in the center of the large shipping carton so that it could no longer move within the original carton. Amazon train your Wearhouse packers their failure sure spoiled our Christmas surprise.
