Excellent controller for sprinklers and drip irrigation

UPDATE - Finally got this working and I have to say the ease of being able to start zones instantly from my phone is 100% worth it. Especially when you are just setting things up, and having to check each sprinkler head or drip emitter. Now that it works I could not be happier because I can go out of town and not worry that all my plants and immature grass will die. About rachio support: after 18 emails with them I was tired of being patient and polite with them. I was irritated that every other email would be a brand new person and start from step one. However after telling them I was frustrated with that, they assigned a specific person to help me out, and he did. He even offered to troubleshoot with me over the phone on the weekend. I don't think it should have taken 18 emails to reach that point, but nonetheless my issue is resolved and I am happy now. Old review- I installed this about month ago, having really high hopes for the weather technology and phone app. However once I replaced the controller, none of my zones would turn on. After double checking all wiring with Rachio and asking them about the issue - they stopped trying to help me all together. They referred me to finding a Rachio Pro in my area - and there are none... I did more troubleshooting myself and everything points to the controller being faulty. My system worked before changing it out. I am very disappointed that customer service shrugged me off and now I'm out 120$, a lot of time, and my sprinklers no longer function. Its the heat of summer, and I'm hand watering grass seed and all my plants because of this. My advice is, if you get this, install it ASAP and if it doesn't work for you return it immediately.

Review Update - WiFi connection management is horrible at best.

One Week Review: 3 stars - Initial install was horrible in my situation. Everything must be done through the Rachio application on your smart device. I have an iPhone 11 and apparently there are known compatibility issues. I had to resurrect and old iPhone 6, install the rachio app. Once installed I configured the controller and a new copy of the controller firmware was installed. Once the new firmware was installed I have been able to use my iPhone 11 which has been shipping for over a year now. I am still stunned the controller arrived WITHOUT the updated firmware or without an insert WARNING in the packaging fro something as popular as the latest iPhone which has been shipping for over a year! I spent a couple of hours trying to debug the install. Support is provided via email once you engage through their chat bot. There is no phone number I could find. It took a day for them to follow-up and frankly while they were very responsive, they just sent me rachio authored articles I had already found online. Once the controller was online they proactively reached out to see how it was going. For you privacy geeks, be aware they can see your controller, its programming etc. It is on your wifi network. It must report or call out to Rachio central. I have not determined whether you can manage this interface. Support was attentive however I can't say helpful. Still getting used to the application and setting up the programming schedules. more later.. Initial Review: 1 star - I will most likely return. This product is impossible to set up. I have an iPhone 11 and according to documentation RachIO wants you to use and early 2019 device due to firmware issues. I just received a new device, why isn't firmware installed? I've spent several hours rebooting, resetting and trying to reconfigure. Support is pretty much facebook and bot centric. I am going to reinstall my original controller and reconsider alternatives. Will update review as things progress. I am very, very disappointed for something reviewed so highly. It seems that if it works it must be a great experience however it if doesn't then it is an equally bad experience.
