Tiny yet powerful
By The Earl of Lemongrab on Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2025
I love this charger! It is very thin and doesn’t stick out from the wall much, and the blades fold flat, making it fit in my cable organizer beautifully. It delivers 45 watts which is adequate for charging my Lenovo ThinkPad laptop. It’s not as powerful as the one that came with the laptop but is way more compact and lightweight which more than offsets the drop in charging speed. 45 watts is plenty to charge an iPad or iPhone at maximum charging speed. I also purchased an earlier version of this charger that outputs 30 watts and is slightly smaller and lighter. I use the 45 watt one for the bigger load and the 30 watt version for the smaller. Most competing products look like cubes or rectangles that stick out from the wall and create big lumps in one’s carrying bag when packed.

$750 mistake. Fried my Google Pixelbook motherboard.
By Go Martin Luther! on Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2020
I bought this 45W charger because the Google OEM 45W charger that comes with the Google Pixelbook is a poorly designed beast where any slight tug on the USB-C cord unplugs the charger from the wall I also wanted smaller chargers to fit within the plug-in cavities of my side tables. So I bought 2 of these 45W Anker Powerport Atom III slim chargers. But only 11 days after using them charger, my $750 26 month old Google Pixelbook motherboard flickered, froze, and died. It is now a brick, except the battery charging LED circuit still works. Reverting back to the OEM Google charger does not revive the Pixelbook. Google tech support troubleshooting has confirmed my Pixelbook is toast. Looking closely, the Pixelbook charging LED blink sequence indicates that the Pixelbook isn't getting enough power from this 45W Anker Powerport Atom III charger, which is strange, because I also have the 30W Anker Powerport PD1, which DOES have enough power for the Pixelbook. So what gives? The problem is that unlike the original Pixelbook 45W charger which puts out 3A on 5V, the 45W Anker Powerport Atom III only puts out 2.4A on the 5V line, whereas the Pixelbook 30W charger DOES put out 3A on the 5V line. And there is no mention of a 12V output on either Anker 30W or 45W chargers. CHARGER COMPARISON: - Google Pixelbook OEM 45W Charger: 5/9/12/15V - 3A, 20V - 2.25A - Anker 45W Powerport Atom III Charger: 5V - 2.25A, 9V/15V - 3A, 20V - 2.25A, 12V - 0A - Anker 30W Powerport Atom PD-1: 5/9V - 3A, 15V- 2A, 20V - 1.5A, 12V - 0A So apparently you can fry the motherboard of a Google Pixelbook using it with a poorly-named "45W" charger that actually provides less 5V power than a "30W" charger. This was an expensive lesson to learn! Time for some industry standards. It is inexcusable for Anker and other 3rd party charger companies to put out aftermarket chargers that do not conform to the USB-C standard for power requirements.
