I have had and worn docs since the early '90's, and still wear a pair from '97, so I know docs. These docs were unbelievably uncomfortable. The sizing was kinda weird, but I think it had to do with the construction, more than anything thing else. The tongue of the boot is attached by a gusset, causing a fold in the leather on either side of the foot. That causes horrible pressure points to the top of the foot. You can actually see the folds on the outside of the boots. To alleviate the pressure, the boot laces can't be snug at all, which makes the boot slide around on your foot. I wore thick, tight socks and they walked down my foot inside the boot very quickly. Also, because of the odd tongue construction, I couldn't use my insoles. That was a deal breaker on these boots, because there is no arch support. These boots are not very female flattering, if you have larger feet, either. They kinda of resemble clown shoes. Needless to say, they were returned.
