Broken after 7 months use: UPDATE
By Keenan Small on Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2022
Purchased this fridge for overlanding/off-roading and for the first several months had no issues. Temperature adjustment is accurate, large enough to fit plenty of food for our adventures, and runs off the 12V which is exactly what we needed. Unfortunately after having it just 7 months and going on maybe 7-8 overlanding trips the LED display no longer functions. The fridge turns on when plugged in, but there is now no way to adjust the temperature or even turn the fridge on/off. The company advertised a 2 year warranty and I have reached out to them directly via their email, and also through Amazon, but have yet to hear anything back at this point. If a replacement is sent or a refund given I will update this review, but as of right now I am pretty disappointed that it only worked for this short of a time. UPDATE: Seller contacted me and promptly sent out a new panel which I just installed and the fridge works like new. Changed my review from 1 to 5 stars due to A+ customer service. Very happy with Joytutus.

Works OK but no Support From JoyTotus
By Truth Digger on Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2021
I purchased this fridge last February (2020) and have taken it now on several trips. While the price is right there are several CONs: 1- No support from JoyTotus when something went wrong. The DC cord has stopped working on this product that is less than a year old. I have sent emails and asked question here on Amazon and both attempt have gone unanswered. 2- The temperature control panel is too sensitive. A slight touch will activate the controls and possibly change them. Even with the fridge cover, a simple brush over the controls can result in change. Fortunately, it beeps when the control is changed and so you can change things back--but if you don't hear the beep you may notice whatever change too late. 3- The insulation isn't very thick and so from the outside you can feel cold at the bottom of the fridge. PROS: 1- The price

Took it on a 2,000 miles, multi-day, multi-week trip in Summer 2020. Didn't want to stop much with COVID and go into stores along the road. The unit chilled quickly, even in car, and maintained temperature and no battery issues at all, while kept food fresh. The two compartments work as published, with the smaller refrigerated area getting cold, but not as much as the main area. Didn't use it as a freezer, but kept temp down to 35 degrees. Kept it there throughout the trips, opening to get food, etc. Tested it getting to freezer (<0 degrees) and it had no problem. Was careful to turn it off before turning off the car. Have hybrid so I didnt want to blow any batteries. Battery saver on unit is good, and can be set to battery usage tolerance. Keep the default - it works well. Had 1 or 2 times an error code popped up, but read on amazon reviews what to do (E1) and just reset by powering down then back up and all was well. Overall, the unit is great. VERY QUIET in car. Can bring in house before leaving, chill it to appropriate temp on AC in less than 30 minutes. Has a pop-out holder so you can pack the food in an accessible way and then just drop in to the unit when ready. It helped us a lot, and saved time, money buying items off road, and allowed us to eat on the road with food we planned. I would buy this again, it is really good.
Great alternative to other expensive models

After using a plug-in cooler type for a year, I decided this was the year to switch and buy a proper compressor fridge style cooler. Not wanting to spend close to or over a thousand dollars my search led me down this path, and after seeing a review from an RV'ing couple on the larger capacity model, I ordered the 40L one myself. This will act as basically a fridge on board my sailboat. It feels very solid, and has some really strong springs for the handles as well as the door latch. I don't imagine I will accidentally open the lid by bumping it. It does cool pretty quickly, as advertised. I had gone from 84 degrees down to 40 in about a half hour, which is plenty fine for what I need. Seems to be plenty of room as well, though I agree that it doesn't seem like the 40 L capacity is quite accurate as far as usable storage goes. I got this one because it wasn't as tall, and my needs are more for bottles of water and light duty sandwich meat storage and such, but for more regular use it might be better to have the larger one. Comparing it to the volume of space in my Koolatron 27.5L cooler, it actually feels about the same. Pros: * Cools pretty quick * Handles seem very sturdy, and can be left off for space saving * Included household adapter is a good value * 12v cord is about 10' long, plenty of reach * Includes a voltage chart to let you know the power saving settings Cons: * A bit on the heavy side when empty, but it does have a compressor. Still, moving when full is tough * Rubber feet on the bottom can mark some surfaces * Screws don't have threaded inserts in the casing, just thread into the plastic directly * Owners manual is pretty thin and basic (though there really isn't much else that needs explaining) * Temperature display is hard to read in direct light * Display also does not turn off. AT ALL. Whenever the unit is plugged in, the display is on, even if you have it in standby mode. And while it is hard to read in direct light, the LEDs for the rest are quite bright, especially in darker rooms. * Needs strong power - Some vehicles may need to have a direct line wired to either the cooler plug itself, or a dedicated 12v outlet. I've seen reviews of these and others mentioning the E1 low voltage error. I used a generic 12v, 10a output adapter in my house and it tripped the error. I reset the unit and turned it down to the Low battery saver setting to adjust, and it's fine on that. All in all, it's hard to knock the value of this unit. It has little flaws but nothing that would cause me to be concerned for the operation. Granted it's new, and obviously cheaper than name brand units so time will tell. It's a basic unit, without all the bells and whistles but if those aren't needed, this is certainly a good value at half the price of many, or less. I do wish I had the cover for it, but I'll see how it does without for a bit and then decide on that. FOLLOW-UP EDIT: Just a follow up, I installed this on my sailboat with a 170 watt solar panel and 400+ amp hour 12v battery bank, and let it run 24/7 for the last three months of the season before I pulled it from duty. It worked flawlessly the entire time with no excess heat, no noises creeping up, no issues at all. It would very rarely trip the low voltage when I had multiple things drawing on the battery like inverters and such, but that's to be expected. And it would automatically kick back on as soon as the other loads disconnected. This is not an issue of the unit, but rather the house bank setup I have. Operation-wise, solid as a rock, and never an issue with having a cold water waiting for me when I arrived.

UPDATE: 6/24/ 22 Customer service is everything!!! Since my initial review my Refrigerator, it has been running great with the summer heat. Joy Tutus has checked on me multiple times since they replaced my refrigerator. The problems I have had with getting used to the way the refrigerator works has been related to the how the inverter cycles. Staff at Joy Titus have been amazing with their help. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Better than ice in a cooler, but takes a little getting use. Must have a regulated 12 V delivery and the plug pops out easy. I went to AC 110V from my Ecoflow Delta. However, if compressor cycles can have a lot of time (cool weather) between and the Ecoflow shuts off. This does not run the refrigerator, consistently. Compressor went out eventually. But this is where Joy Tutus shined! Not expecting much , I dropped an email to customer service. A wonderful reply came back back quickly. They would replace the unit. I was shocked! They shipped to where ever I needed it (of course I was on the road). Thank you Joy Titus for coming through and making a great save!

We bought this 42QT fridge during a last minute decision before a road trip. It was a kind of a gamble, but we were willing to take it over the cooler + ice method. I had it plugged into our Mazda CX5 12v plug in the back of the vehicle. We used the fridge in both, the freezer and the refrigeration mode. In our experience on a 12 hour road trip, the bottom part of the box can indeed be used as a freezer while the top smaller area will just refrigerate. Here's what I would conclude about this fridge: It's way cheaper than the bigger name products. (Why do the other brands cost more than my kitchen fridge?!) It doesn't draw much power since it worked fine in our Mazda with and without the engine running. You can transition the fridge between your car and home because you get two power supplies (DC and AC). It still costs less than a YETI. Sorry, but this is true and you don't have to fill half of it with ice just to keep it cool in a vehicle. I don't know about reliability or longevity. We've only tested it on one trip which was 1 week long with about 24 hours of driving on the road. But at this point, I feel pretty confident about our purchase.

I purchased this refrigerator 18 months ago and used it about 6 times on my road trip until it stopped working, digital display went out and fridge no longer cools, my guess probably compressor went out. I did write an email twice to customer service for this issue and asked for repair remedy but haven’t heard a reply and it’s been almost a month. if you’re purchasing joy tutus refrigerator just know that if problems arises you may not have a remedy. I am going to order another one for my road trips but this time with more reputable company that I can rely upon, spending little more to have a piece of mind that I am not gambling on cheap product

I made this purchase based on some reasearch and the Prime shipping...it wasn't the Alpicool but it would arrive on time for a big trip and the price was better. The Pros: - 42 Qt was a nice size to fit in my camper but too big to ride in the back seat. - Nice basket and interior light. - Sturdy latch and wonderful rubber feet. - Not too loud. - Once you figure out that the temp reads wrong (set it colder than you want)...it functions adequately. The cons: - the small plastic compartment up top is pretty much useless on fridge mode...maybe ok as a crisper but will barely chill 6-8 cans... possibly refrigerate foods when main compartment is set to freeze... otherwise a waste of inside space. - We were not fans of the spring loaded handles. Too springy and tight...but they were ample to carry the thing full. - Poorly insulated, maybe hollow lid and sides no more than an inch thick. Had some condensation on exterior! - No drain plug...I didn't think I would care but...stuff inside sweats and maybe leaks...the plug is a good idea. - BRIGHT display. We had to cover it up at night as it made our small camper too bright. I wish it timed-out or could be dimmed... would save electricity too. - Poor temp control. The attached picture is a screenshot from a wireless tag thermometer with the fridge comfortably full, on normal mode, and on shore power. Wide temperature fluctuations...this is set at 28°F and didn't freeze water bottles. We lost milk and creamer at the beginning of the trip since I had it set at "only" 34°F and the temp swings took it too warm (second screenshot). You can see how dewey (is that a word?) it got in there...thus my wish for a drain. Conclusion, just an "OK" 12v fridge. The cons were too great so we returned.
Fine as a refrigerator, not for freezing meat.

I have this refrigerator for almost two years now. I find it useful as a refrigerator but not good to store frozen meet. I did run some test at home, even running 24 hours a day, it can only go to about 8F not really 0F. That is in the normal room temperature environment. In the car it often got much hotter . The refrigerator come with a label saying that meat storing temperature is 0F. Which this refrigerator can't get to. Other than this, the refrigerator works fine. It is pretty quite when working. The touch screen to setup the temperature is easy enough. I enjoy the part that the refrigerator will not start when it is on car battery only. There is a switch to set the protection voltage lower. I found the default setting is pretty useful, it will not accidentally drain the car battery. It only starts when the car engine is started. I also have a LiFe battery for camping which have slightly higher voltage than lead batter used in the car. The default voltage cut off works well with that battery as well. The black surface get hot easily due to exposure to sun. Works fine as refrigerator not freezer.
Control panel way too touchy

Overall I’m satisfied with my fridge! Just bought a camper van and wanted an entry level fridge to test the functionality of the concept in general. So far so good! I’ve used it in the van for a couple weekends, as well as my basement for a party. Haven’t used the 12v plug for extended time on the weekend though. I’ve had access to power outlets at my site. My biggest complaint is the control panel is basically touch screen. So any small nudge adjusts something. I’m have to put some sort of a tape across it when it’s between my front seats when I’m driving. I plan on babying this thing and make it last forever, because it’s definitely not engineered to last forever. No offense to the company, it’s just the way it is.. Put cold drinks in it as much as possible. If you’re planning on putting liquor in it, store it in the freezer before putting it in this fridge. Oh and the spring loaded handles are a bit weird. Happy travels!
