Outstanding phone for the price. Works on Cricket.

I'm coming from an LG Stylo 4 which was a good budget phone. But this G8 Plus is a huge improvement. I purchased it at $200, but would satisfied even if it was $300. Battery: Possibly one of the best features of this phone. My Stylo 4 battery life was very good. With the G8 plus, light use I can get through the day and maybe drop to 75%. Honestly, I don't think I've gone below 50% with moderate use during a day. It does have quick charge, but I don't think it has wireless charging. Speaker: Big improvement. Comparable to some cheaper blue tooth speakers. Great for a phone. Speed: very good most of the time (again, huge improvement over my Stylo 4). Probably not as good as your higher end iphones/androids but most will be satisfied. Cell reception: No issues. At least as good as my previous phone on Cricket (uses AT&T towers). WiFi/bluetooth: No connection problems with me. Fingerprint scanner: Gets it right probably 90% of the time. As good or better than other fingerprint phones. I haven't tried the facial recognition method and I'm not really interested it it. Cameras: Lots of features and quality with main camera. Front camera is also decent. This camera was another huge improvement over my Stylo 4. It's probably not as good as some high end phones, but it's not far behind either. Storage: Decent amount of on board storage and can add micro SD card which I did. I've had no issues with my SD card. Screen: Good image quality. The max brightness is a weak point. In very bright locations I can see the screen, but I wish it was brighter. This is a small step down from my Stylo 4. Screen sensitivity: Generally good, but I have a screen protector on it. Sometimes I have to retap but the protector may be a factor. If there is any sensitivity reduction it's small. OS: Currently at Android 9 (as of 2/20/20) even though 10 has been out for several months. Not a big deal for me, but if you have to have the latest OS then stick with Google phones. Overall this is an outstanding phone for the price. I thought it wasn't available in the US. Apparently it is, but not officially so you might not have a warranty. Buying through Amazon effectively gives you a short term warranty via the return window. This phone competes with some $500+ phones. It was a quick transition from my old phone (had function to easily directly transfer data). The phone has other neat quick gesture features to access the flash light and camera in addition to other things.

Doesn't work on T-Mobile network.Decent phone. But G6 Play is a better deal.

Edited: 16-Apr-2021 The phone stopped working in March 2021. The hardware and OS seems to have failed completely. No new app was installed. No software update was done. The phone just died for no good reason. Total waste of money. Not buying a MotoG again. Last one I had bought also only lasted 1 year. I had not thought that it is a quality issue at that time. But now I am convinced that they make phones only to last till the original warranty. Edited: 16-Apr-2020 This phone doesn't work on T-Mobile network. People who call me get my voicemail directly as of the phone is switched off and I get the voicemail after an hour or more. Unfortunately, I thought it was a T-Mobile outage issue as one was going on in my area, but it's clear now that it's the phone problem. This phone does NOT support the bands that T-Mobile network operate on. I couldn't return the phone as I crossed the 1 month return time trying to trouble shoot the issue. Also the camera is not even close to what it should be with the specs it has. Very average picture quality. I will have to buy another phone now. –------------------------ I had used Moto G6 play for over a years without any issue. I decided to go for Moto G8 primarily for more space. I am using Moto G8 the exact same way and with same apps that I had on G6. Both have same battery size (4000 mAh) and they both die by end of the day. I do not play any games not do have any game apps on the phone. I use it primarily for office phone calls (2-3 hours per day), checking emails, messaging, news, directions using maps app (Waze), checking social media sites (FB, LinkedIn) intermittently. The phone has better performance (faster response) compared to G6 but I wished that the battery life was a little better.
