Surprised

I'm always leery about buying furniture made from particle board. I've had too many experiences in the past with the stuff only lasting a couple of years before it turns to utter garbage. I get the feeling that won't be the case with this desk. The coating on the particle board is actually quite nice and durable...I did not expect that. The metal framing is solid and sturdy when put together. It is a modular design so it's not going to support 500 pounds of weight, but it does just fine with my office setup. It has the right amount of desktop space and legroom I was looking for. It went together easily enough, but I did have to use my brain a few times when putting it together because it's easy to get the screws mixed up (there are 3 types that all look the same but have different lengths). I didn't realized I used one in a wrong spot until I was putting on the very last piece and things weren't working correctly. Oh well. The instructions suggested not using a drill as the desk came with an Allen wrench and a screw driver. I would strongly suggest that if you have a hand held ratcheting screwdriver to use that. It saved me way more time. If you don't have one but want to consider buying one, they're fairly cheap and well worth the investment (I'm not cross promoting, just offering up useful tips).

Desk is pretty heavy and will require a team lift to move it, especially between floors. The feel of the material is nice for a computer desk. Some parts are labeled only by stickers and it is super important to be diligent in making sure you are using the right pieces. Desk uses quite a lock of cam locks which can be frustrating to use. Definitely would recommend a normal screwdriver as the provided one is is very light and puts a lot of strain on your own wrist. Even with some jury rigging I had to do, desk has the full weight of my speakers, 2 monitors, and full atx tower with no signs of collapsing. Something to note is that if you are using one of the low storage sides is that is very hard to reach the top back of the computer, in case you plug anything like mouse or keyboard in. I was able to get everything plugged in but it is a very snug fit.
