I like that I can sit in the house and monitor my smoker especially with winter coming. Sometimes I have to reconnect to the thermometer sometimes I don't. If my phone is idle a long time I always have to reconnect. When I wake my phone it seems to reconnect within a reasonable amount of time. I only had it not reconnect once where I had to walk out to the unit and connect it again. My first use was 20 hours. The disconnection alarm is annoying especially if your having a lot of disconnect reconnect going on. The alarm is easy enough to shut off. The vibration part does not shut off on my phone with the vibrate alarm turned off in the software. Now I have all notifications turned off for the thermometer. I guess I have the latest software from Apple. Its about 150ft from where my smoker is to where I was inside the house. Walls, Doors, etc between. I don't know what role that played with my disconnection issues. I used three temp probes. One for grill temp, two for the meat. The one for the grill temp you have to find the right spot to put it or it will read different from what the actual grill temp is. Seemed to read right when I placed it by the RTD sensor propped up between the grate rods. The meat probes I found read 10 degrees difference. The meat probes did not shock me because this usually was the norm on my old meat thermometer too. What did kind of raise a flag is closer to the end of the smoke the temp of the two probes would be much closer. This particular smoke did not happen that way. The two different probes stayed pretty much 10 degrees apart. To make this clear I had two pork butts and they weighed the same. My smoker is a Traeger which is another whole review. I am not happy with the way this pellet grill smokes and has cost me a ton of money to get it where it is now. It gets better with upgrades. Do not buy your upgrades from Traeger. I have never scrapped as meat meat as I have with a Traeger. Back to the thermometer will have to use this more to get a better handle on it. I've been smoking long enough that the disconnection thing doesn't really bother me because I have never had this feature until now. I would like to have the alarm feature available and will try it when I get a chance, I will not rely on it at this point because I doubt it works after disconnection. The best feature, so far in my one time use. Is I don't have to get out of bed on all night smokes. If my temp is right and I look out the window and see smoke I'm good.

Just received it but have not put it to work on the grill. Upon receipt, I tried to set it up.... received error codes. Called their help line and was immediately connected with help. Not sure if it was a real person. Problem was user error. I inserted the probes into the unit until they stopped, and I received error codes. Support told me to push harder. I did (a lot), expecting to damage the unit. After a hard push, the probes clicked into place--up to plastic, no metal exposed. Everything worked after that. After the first time inserting the probes, they went in much easier. Probes and wires are strong. Easy connection with my cell phone and customizing the preset cooking temperatures. So far, happy with what I received. Looking forward to using it on the grill.
The App is great, but having wired probes is a pain.

TL/DR I prefer the App for the Thermopro, but I LOVE the wireless connection and accuracy of the Chef IQ. I have two sets of thermometers I use. This ThermoPro TP25 with 4 Probes, and the ChefIQ 3 probe wireless thermometer. There are things I prefer about both. Neither is perfect. First, the good. The accuracy is good. Battery life is simply PHENOMENAL. I've run this unit for almost a week, including overnight cooks, and still not needed to charge it. There is a hook on the back that you CAN use to hang the main unit. The App is excellent. The ability to set multiple target temperatures, or a custom temperature range with high and low temperature alarms is just great. The App allowing you to keep the device from sleeping when it is in use is also key for long cooks. Replacement probes are easily available. The not so good: The wires. If you have several things on a smoker, and you have to pull one, the wires are a nightmare. Also, if you're like me, and move poultry between your smoker and a grill or oven to sear, juggling the wires and main unit is a damn nightmare of hot metal and grease. The alarm on the App. It has one setting, which I call "Wake the Dead." I would LOVE to turn it down to a setting that doesn't make me jump out of my skin. The hook on the back of the unit. It is FLIMSY. It pops out easily and WILL lead to you dropping the unit. I have used this unit for 2 years, and I finally dropped the unit when moving a ham, when the wire snagged and the hook popped out. Now it's a 3-probe unit, but still works great. That frustration caused me to get the 3-probe ChefIQ wireless set. I LOVE not juggling wires, but the Thermopro App is just more functional, so I keep using it when I need an ambient temperature range. I also prefer its longer probes for deep frying.
Im really impressed

Let me start off by saying, before this one, I had purchased & returned 4 thermometers.... and I did research for months before deciding this one met my needs best. I grill with charcoal so ambient temp was very important to me. I decided a wired probe/ wireless thermometer was the BEST way to go, so that I can use the included grill clip to have a dedicated ambient temp probe. ...and i was NOT disappointed! *I didn't choose a truly wireless probe/wireless thermometer because even though the ambient temp is built into the back end of the probe... this only is good after the probe is in the grill... like i said, with charcoal you need to know the temp long before you put the meat in the grill Pros: The unit itself beeps and flashes when alarm is reached. You can edit the setting for meats or create custom ones. It is REALLY easy to use. the probs do not need calibrating, but came spot on temp when tested (with that said, you can not calibrate them tho) Temp readings are as quick as a "quick read" thermometer probes are long, and wires are long The light button also silences the alarm, (but doesn't silence it on your phone) the clip allows you to hang or stand up the device the Bluetooth (wireless to your phone) is great. I haven't had a problem with it (i have stucco siding). Cons: No notification settings. You can change the alarm chimes. but the notifications pop up and beep every time you change a setting. Not a problem really, but its annoying when your playing around with it On the Android app, create your own high/low doesn't work on my phone. (the regular temp setting works, but not high low. The clip on the back pops off. Could be better. I put a tiny bit of glue in the 2 holes for it to not disengage the 1, 2, 3, 4 IMO should be. left side 1, 2; Right side 3, 4. so that the "first 2" probes that you are most likely using are on the same side of the device. I also wish the numbers were centered in the window. obviously not a reason to not buy this!
Best meat thermometer I've ever used

I've only used this meat thermometer once, but by far it's the best meat thermometer I've ever owned. It was accurate and no time delay in it measuring the current temperature. I also liked that the probe end and the connection end are color coded. And on the main unit the probes are numbered and color coded which makes it easier to monitor the temperatures. And, last but not least, the monitor is connected by blue-tooth to my phone so I can be doing something else without having to stand at the grill the whole time.
Happy stuff

Unit works flawlessly. Great product. Only issue was connecting Bluetooth to it as the app is the same for a two probe system i purchased 3 years ago. Had to go in and delete app data then it hooked up with no problem.

Now, I am a perfectionist about products like this. I feel like if I put a temperature probe into boiling water at sea level, it ought to read 212.001 *at the most*. But that isn't realistic and it isn't necessary for a cooking-grade thermometer. I got 213 and 214 across probes (see picture), which is a pretty small error, which is fine. But here's the main thing that impressed me: as I was installing the app, I was kind of fuming to myself about how annoying it is that anything we want to use nowadays, we have to register with an email address and, more often than not, a cell phone number. Imagine my very pleasant surprise when I installed this app, instantly paired it to the thermometer and was DONE. Setup complete, no account required, minimum BS. FANTASTIC. I cannot praise the product and company enough for this. (I have an Android phone, BTW.) If I have a real complaint, it's that the probe ends don't snap into the receptacles cleanly and satisfyingly. They are a little difficult to push in. They work fine, I just kind of expect a higher-quality "feel" to something like that. But for the price of this probe, that is certainly not worth dinging my rating. Bluetooth, the app, the alarms and vibrations worked *perfectly*, first time. The app is easy to use, and you don't actually really need the app if all you want to do is monitor temperature from the display. You can't set an alarm without the app, though. 10/10 would buy again. I have no idea why I waited as long as I did to upgrade my broken old meat thermometer.
Issues with the app

For the most part, the thermometer unit is fine. I like that each probe is color coded. one problem on my unit is that the blue and the black on the face of the thermometer are difficult to differentiate. Not a huge problem, but they could haven picked another color. It doesn't affect the functionality, but it's a minor annoyance. I also like the cord keepers for each probe. It's a great way to keep them from getting tangled. The app was easy to set up, but if you want to set a custom temperature, it's incredibly finicky. You can't just type in a temperature. You have a high end and low end slider, across a range of almost 500 degrees. For one project, I need to keep the temperature in a very narrow range. I found it impossible to get the upper/lower set correctly. I got it close, but it's not perfect. Entering the temperature directly, or even setting the graphics on the slider so they don't overlap would probably solve that problem, but neither seems to be an option.
Slightly disappointed already

For an inexpensive national brand 4-probe cooking thermometer, I'd expect a few confusing design decisions. After all, these things are often designed and marketed by people who will never use them and don't know how people will use them day-to-day. You see it all the time in products that have little flaws that make you wonder why they make it that way for no good reason. The ThermoPro TP25 is no exception to this rule. I've just now popped it out of its box -- which reads in huge print on the front, by the way, that it has a 650 foot range, not a 500 foot range -- and rifled through the tiny leaflet inside. In the leaflet and on the back of the box, the "650" is snickered over with a "500." Well, okay, that's as advertised, so fair enough. Most electronic devices need to be charged before you put them to use but often arrive with just enough juice in the box to let you poke at them a little before you plug them in and leave them overnight. Nope, this thing ships with a totally flat battery. This is probably the safest option, shipping-wise, but a little disappointing since you don't then get to discover the first real problem until the next morning. Once you get it charged up and start playing with the thing, you learn of its first flaw: turning on the backlight causes it to beep. You'd think that's not a huge problem, right? You're only going to do that once, at 3am when you start the cook, and then maybe peek out the window as you go by a few times. Well... no. You then learn of its second flaw: the backlight turns itself off within a few seconds. There is no setting or override for this. You cannot leave the light on. You can turn the light on briefly -- emitting the obnoxious beep! -- and then you're going to do it a few more times to get all the probes settled in and emitting the obnoxious beep again every time. Let's just hope nobody's bedroom faces the repeatedly-beeping-at-3am backyard. Now, once you're all set up you can get around this problem of not being able to see in the dark with the Bluetooth feature. That's one of the most compelling features of the product, after all. The app is not great -- it's poorly designed and downright ugly -- but it is functional. The default temperatures it offers for most foods are patently absurd and will result in massively overcooked food but can be adjusted. I recommend doing so immediately so you don't get caught by this later. The app offers very limited watch integration, in that it only forwards its notifications. You cannot view any monitoring data. Hope you're phone's glued to you in every room of the house!
