Excellent purchase

As someone who has been lifting for years I can say with confidence that this set is exactly the quality you would expect to find at a real weight lifting gym. I've seen other reviews complain about the grip, but I don't see any issue with them. They are the gritty texture you find on most dumbbells and barbells, they are just brand new and not worn down like they usually are at the gym. The star clips work great, really locking the weight into place securely, though they are a little tedious to screw and unscrew but work better than the clamp style clips on barbells. The weight increments are a bit strange, I got the 60 lbs version so the lowest weight I can possibly do is like ~13 lbs for a dumbbell (I'm not sure how much the grips weigh) which is a bit high for stuff like lateral raises but nothing to be upset about. I can always buy another set with lighter and heavier weights, which I plan to do ASAP. The biggest complaints that I have is that, even with the connector piece, they are not very wide for barbell exercises. They are about the width of the preweighted barbells you find on those racks for upright rows and preacher curls. The other thing is that it leaves a bit of room between the grip on the dumbbells and the grip on the connector piece which is where I like to hold for curls, so I have to hold it a little bit wider or narrower than I normally would for preacher curls. Other than that though, this was an excellent investment and I'm very satisfied. I don't think there is a better deal on Amazon if you want a good weight set for home that isn't going to cost a fortune.

Good for starting out, look elsewhere if you want a good adjustable dumbbell
By John on Reviewed in the United States on February 23, 2023
These things are great if you're just starting to work out and are unsure if you'll stick with it, as they are cheap and easy to assemble. However, I ditched these after three months for a higher quality adjustable dumbbell. The handles are way too narrow for my hand, and I found them very difficult to get a solid grip. Switching weight took me about one to two minutes, which was complicated due to the uneven weigh increments (weights are 5 lbs and 8lbs). Ex: If you're using 5 lbs and want to introduce the 8 lbs, you have to take the lock off, the 5 lb weights off, slide the 8 lbs in, then the 5 lbs after the 8 lbs, then re-attach the lock. This got pretty annoying trying after a week or so of use. Additionally, the locking mechanism, which is just a large washer on a screw more or less, became loose after most sets. There wasn't any danger of the weights coming off, but it was pretty frustrating doing one set then feeling the weights jiggle. I do not regret my purchase as I was unsure if I would stick with working out. For that situation only would I recommend these. If you are looking for an adjustable dumbbell and are or have consistently worked out definitely spend the extra money and get a quality product. It was frustrating looking at the prices ($300 minimum) for a better adjustable dumbbell, but it was 110% worth the money investment in quality and ease of use.
