Always having Clean & Clear Water
By Hey Blondie on Reviewed in the United States on May 27, 2024
I felt so safe being able to fill up from any facet while traveling to Costa Rica and Mexico. I am really sensitive to taste and smell and have always had to buy bottled water in the pass when traveling out of the country because of the contaminants that would make me sick. LifeStraw Go Water Filter Bottle with 2- Stage Intergrated Filter is a great investment for the price for clean & Clear good tasting water anywhere.

DO NOT under any circumstances buy this water bottle.
By Andie Callejas on Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2023
I bought this water bottle on august 2023 and on December 2023 I got in touch with customer support because about a month ago I noticed the filter changing color on the top half of the bottle filter. As of now, is really yellow in the top 2/3 of the filter and has some weird brownish spots near the top were you screw it to the cap of the bottle. IT'S A LONG REVIEW, I KNOW, BUT ALL THE INFORMATION ABOUT THE ISSUE CAN BE FOUND HERE. THIS WATER BOTTLE IS DISCONTINUED ON THEIR WEBSITE, BUT THEY'RE SELLING THE "NEW GO SERIES" OF WHICH I HAD ONE BOTTLE THAT HAD TO RETURN BECAUSE I RECEIVED IT IN BAD CONDITION, HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE TASTE OF THE WATER & IT ALSO SMELLED REALLY BAD QUICKLY. THIS WAS THEIR RESPONSE: We highly suggest cleaning this product more often and maybe incorporating a vinegar or unscented chlorine-based solution with water to remove any particles in the microfilter membrane and avoid future obstructions. Here are some quick steps: Remove the filter from the bottle. Remove the carbon capsule from the top of the filter. Soak the membrane microfilter overnight in a diluted bleach solution. Use ¼ teaspoon of bleach per 2 Cups of water (5 ml of bleach to 500 ml of water). Wash the bottle, lid and mouthpiece with detergent. Thoroughly rinse the membrane microfilter with water after soaking overnight. Do not use soap to clean the filter body. Reassemble To more effectively clean the product. I would recommend being sure to clean the unit weekly. For regular cleaning, remove the filters, rinse well, and set aside. Remember to avoid using soap with the filters as this can clog the pores and reduce its effectiveness. Wash the rest of the unit with warm soapy water and allow the parts to dry. AND THE MOST CONCERNING OF ALL: You can also incorporate the use of a water softener or something similar if discoloration continues to be an issue. (WTF) THIS WAS MY RESPONSE: I'm just writing you to let you know I'm not happy at all with the information you gave me, it almost feels like my concerns are of no importance for you or your company and that it's entirely my fault that you are misleading the consumers with how you advertise the product and continuing with the manual that came with it. It just gets worse when we take into account that I use the bottle at my home that is located in a city that has really good tap water that I can drink from, and that I only use it to filter any remaining residue and microplastics, really ironic. Also it's important for me to let you know that the information you provided earlier is new and it's a contradiction of the user manual that came in the box with the water bottle: 1. Daily use: This section does not specify anything about cleaning the product AT ALL. It contains 4 steps for its use and NONE of them talks about cleaning. 2. Cleaning and storage: Well we certainly have a section about cleaning that doesn't talk about the frequency but it does SPECIFY that the user SHOULDN'T use anything but water to maintain the water filter in working condition. In case you do not know what i'm referring to, here goes the quote: "Do NOT wash filter with soap", for me, the information is pretty clear but somehow in your response is my responsibility to know that even though you are instructing the users to avoid washing the filters with anything BUT WATER I still have to do it, really customer oriented the information you are providing, huh?. Just to make this section clear, you are telling me that I should Soak the membrane microfilter overnight in a diluted bleach solution. Use ¼ teaspoon of bleach per 2 Cups of water (5 ml of bleach to 500 ml of water) once every week at minimum even though it is public knowledge that bleach causes serious health complications and again even though the manual doesn't specify and explicitly forbids using anything but water for the upkeep of the product. But the thing that really enraged me was you suggesting that I "can also incorporate the use of a water softener or something similar if discoloration continues to be an issue" but I wonder what's the point in buying a bottle that is designed specifically to and advertised as something that "Protects against microplastics, chlorine, organic chemical matter and sand, dirt, cloudiness and more" if I have to buy an extra product just to ensure this statement stays true and to make your product look good. It's really concerning that you assure the consumers that the bottle can be filled up ANYWHERE and that the product makes water drinking sustainable when taking into account the information provided is a lie, it's really delusional for you to tell me that I have to do this weekly with bleach or vinegar when the bottle is made for hiking, backpacking and travel, I guess if you have this water filter you can do any of this activities for a WEEK at most. So disappointing to spend money on a product that says it does something and in reality the conditions are completely different, basically I have to fill the bottle only with clean, safe to drink water and NEVER use it as is advertised or in an environment that is not ideal. You're advertising a product and selling another that does not fill your selling promise, also, I attached pictures of your product malfunction in case you can use them for something other than blaming the consumer for you bad design and I suggest you review you user manuals so they convey the TRUE instructions for keeping the products and not just the convenient ones so I have to buy a new bottle often and you can increase your revenue. PLEASE LOOK FOR ANOTHER OPTION THAT HAS LESS PROBLEMS, THIS BOTTLE COMES WITH A 3 YEAR WARRANTY AND WHEN I WROTE THEM ABOUT IT, THEY JUST DISMISSED MY CASE BLAMING ME FOR THEIR PRODUCT MALFUNCTION.
