Durable, Roomy and Easy Set Up

We did a lot of research before buying a tent. After trying a Core tent we decided to return it and purchase the Bushnell 12 man tent. There is absolutely no comparison in quality. The Core tent was thin and seemed like it could rip easily. The Bushnell’s material is thicker and seems far more durable. Set up and take down were a breeze. My wife and I were able to put it up in about 5 minutes. The instant tent hubs snapped into place easily and the telescoping support poles were a breeze to expand into place. We didn’t use the fly this last trip since it was beautiful out and no chance of rain but we have used it before and it was easy to install - just clip it at the bottom of each pole. The six windows offer plenty of great airflow, especially with the rain fly not installed. All of the zippers are very sturdy. No catching and they zipped smoothly. About the only thing I’d change is the door. I prefer the hinged door some Coleman tents have, but most large tents have the same three zipper door. It worked fine - no issues - but a hinged door is more convenient. Overall, I’m very happy with the quality and functionality of this tent. The Bushnell is a tad more expensive than some but the quality of the tent more than makes up for it.

i really wanted to like this tent because on paper it seems incredible. fist off i have always used pole tents and never have used a pop up style tent so maybe take that into consideration when i say it was not easy to set up. id get one side kind of situated and move to the other and the first side would collapse. this happened over and over and over. i could be doing something wrong but i don't think i was. the "hubs" take very little weight for them to collapse in on the tent which is extremely questionable since they have hanger loops directly under the hubs. the mechanism that allows the poles to extend is another pain point as one of them malfunctioned the very first time i used it. i actually had to kind of take it apart where the two tabs hold it to the pole to get it to work again. these all seem like things that will leave you without a tent when they break ( which they will ). the "vestibule" is very disappointing. it is way to small to use for siting chairs in. the over head coverage is very minimal so leaving things under it that should stay dry is not an option. lastly idk why it does not have a door in the vestibule. its got gear pockets and what not and no way to close it up. its almost like displaying things to be stolen. the door on the actual tent is designed poorly as well. it zips out of the way on the bottom but does not on the top so you have to duck in the center of the door to get in without catching either of the two doors. the buckles for the rain fly feel like they are going to break on the first use. the plastic links that go between the poles and the tent feel like they are going to break on the first use. the tent stakes are made of playdough and every single one of them bent with one swing of a mallet. for a tent that is borderline 500 bucks i would expect dramatically better hardware. i have seen better hardware on no name knockoff brands. the fabric that was used feels cheap and like i will just absorb moisture. i have not water tested this tent yet so i can not speak to the accuracy of that claim. but for anyone who has had multiple tents you should all know what i mean when i say the fabric feels like its dry and will absorb. that all being said the height and size are great at the look of the tent is very nice. unfortunately no one cares what it looks like if it does not perform. i give this about a 2 out of 10 and will 100% be returning this tent as the market in this tents price range offers 100s of tents. I'm sure there are at least a few that will out perform this in every way.

So we bought this tent before we checked the weather of where we were camping. We set it up for the 1st time in 10-15 min max, including taking it out of the shipping box, laying tarps down, moving it, setting it up, then staking it. It was a joy not messing with 15 poles. It opened easy like an umbrella and then extend the legs. Easy peasy! About 3 hours after we arrived the Temps dropped into the mid 30s!!!!! We stayed pretty dang warm. Infact, at 4am I went out to for a potty break and felt the drastic difference in temperature inside the tent vs outside. The next three days brought poring rain and 40 degree Temps. We stayed warm and DRY! No leaks even with torental rain and heavy winds. This tent is way better than I expected. In the summer the large screen windows and side vents will help cool the tent down, I am sure. All in all highly recommend. We got the medium size. It fit our queen bed and two 49 inch dog beds. 2 folding chairs some tubs and tables. With space left to maneuver around. Did I mention durability. I have one 130lbs dog and one 100lbs dog. They are NOT gentle and the tent has stood up to scratching, trying to push the doors open, trying to poke nose through windows and screen doors. So it is durable! Great investment. If you are on the fence, I recommend buying it.
Great tent. Easy up. Easy down.

Bushnell 6 person tent is not a quick setup!

We purchased this tent for our upcoming dark sky trips we plan for the summer. We originally looked at a Bushnell 4 person tent. I’m glad we decided on the next size up. The six person tent will only hold a queen size air mattress and not much more. A four person tent would only be good for two adults if the six person is any thing to go by! Pros: 1) Easy set up. It does quickly pull out and up quickly if you have two people doing it. When we set it up the next time we will know the ins and outs of doing it! 2) It has nice sized windows (only negative no ties for the flaps so they hang loose) and the small air conditioning vent in the back will allow the camper to stay cool at night using a small 5,000 to 8,000 btu ac unit. 3) There are a few storage pockets in the tent which are nice and a large storage net at the top where you can store additional items. 4) It’s a tub floor which will help with water not getting into the tent. That is what this type of flooring is designed to prevent. 5) Power cord pocket that will let you run an extension cord into the tent. This is located on the left side of the front of the tent. 6) As of right now I cannot vouch for how rainproof it is. The material is very strong and sturdy! No issues with tears along the seams as some reviewers had. We will do what we’ve done before; buy seam sealer spray for the seams and waterproofing tent spray to give the tent additional water resistance. The large rain fly should afford additional protection from rain. 7) Heat shield technology should help with the hot Texas nights. We will find out how effective it is once we start using it during the summer! 8) The rain flys vestibule has pockets for storage. Nice to store the things you need to keep close and handy. Cons: 1) This tent does not come with any instructions at all. The setting up of the tent itself is a no brainer. Still, simple instructions would have helped out with a few questions we had. 2) The rain fly. Figuring out how it drapes across the tent is easy enough. The Bushnell logo is the front of the rain fly. Here, instructions for this would of helped to make that “60 second” setup more of a reality. After about 15 minutes we got the rain fly supported by the rods that support the small vestibule. NOTE HERE. At each of the bottom front corners of the tent by the loop for the corner tent stakes, you will see a round, 4” metal pin ring. These are used for the vestibule rods. You slip the bottom opening of each side of the rods onto the pin rings. This secures the vestibule rods and keeps them in place. At first we thought the ends would go into the ground and the legs would go within the rings. For us this was NOT the case. Doing so would of caused great stress on the corners of the tent and possibly damaged the tent itself. 3) This truly is not a six person tent. If you had six adults in the tent on twin size sleeping mats yes, but it would still be tight and not allow for any personal space. As stated above, a queen size mattress is almost too big for this tent. If you want additional room you’d either have to go up to the next size for the tent or use cots for sleeping. Cots would give you more space. 4) There is a gap between the inner rain fly edge and the tent itself. Not much but enough that a hard rain would come through that gap. As I stated, we have yet to use this tent. Husband and grandson will use it for backyard camping this weekend and we have rain coming so that will test how rainproof this tent is. Overall, it’s easy to set up, the bag you store it in has a zipper near the bottom that will expand the bag and allow you to fit the tent into it. This must be a new design of the bag as previous owners had a complaint about not being able to fit the tent into the storage bag. I will update this review once we receive a rain. So far that is the only “unknown” factor. Well that and wind!

This tent is amazing, very well built, heavy duty zippers, thick material all around. The tent just feels sturdy. It’s very easy to set up and take down, its a lot easier to pack away with two people but manageable for 1. The tent bag is very nice had an expandable zip on the bottom to help it fit back in. I have owned a lot of tents, I was tired of dealing with poles, and wanted something that could be a little more mobile. Hunting out west and camping for a day or two then pack up and moving is incredibly easy with this tent. Lots of room for a queen sized air mattress and gear. It even stood up a Rocky Mountain snow storm! woke up with a foot of snow on the ground and 6 inches of snow on the top. It’s not a 4 season tent by any means but it did it. Snow will make its way under the rain fly and sit on the netting, but held up very well. Very sturdy in the wind, and kept us dry when it rained. Just a very solid tent for the price, you will not be disappointed.

So I put up the tent for the first time. Very easy to put up. Tent is made of a thicker material then previous two tents. Now, understand I live in this tent. I’m off grid starting to build a house , so this is my home. I’m in the 9x11 one, I think it’s the 9 man. I have a double cot in it. could fit another one and still have room. So far zippers are holding up, I like the fact that they are straight up and down. my last tent had a radius to them. So bad. Love love love the little awning it comes with nice and big. Could fit a couple chairs under it and stay out of rain. It has rained and hailed on the tent. So far so good. Not a huge fan of the window set up in the rain. After it stopped I opened them and water came in. Wish the rain fly extended out a little further. One other bad thing is the front doors there’s only one grommet to hold door open??? Doesn’t work very well. Ending on a positive note. Love the fact it has nice Big screens on it and when the awning is on you can leave the front two open and watch the rain. Over all very happy with the tent. Well worth the money.
Easy setup but disappointing water resistance

The setup was as quick and easy as advertised. The disappointing part was the rain fly’s water resistance. It was fairly poor. There was no rain just heavy condensation and the rain fly leaked. Even the vestibule cover leaked water. It was very frustrating to pay a premium price and not get a premium result. I don’t think I should have to invest in waterproofing spray day 1. I would expect after a year or so but not day 1. None of the lower priced options I have used have had this issues.

I have been eyeing this tent for a few years. I am a somewhat experienced tent camper. I have owned a Coleman, a Kodiak Canvas, an Ozark Trail... I have reasonable expectations from a non canvas tent. My biggest concern in buying this (after owning a Kodiak Canvas) was how it would perform in rain. I set the tent up in my backyard for a couple of weeks prior to our planned camping trip. I wanted to have the opportunity to see how it would perform in different weather conditions. I also wanted to see how it would do with my window unit AC. I was taking my college aged daughter and younger teen daughter with me on this trip, and they are not outdoorsy. Comfort was going to be important. The first rain happened right away after putting the tent up. I had not even had a chance to guy out the rain fly. A good solid hour or so of heavy rain. I was not shocked to see that a good bit of water had accumulated in the corners of the tent floor. I guyed out the fly and made sure the entire tent was staked out properly before the next rain event. I was prepared to seam seal where necessary. The next two rain events were heavier than the first, but much less water leaked into the tent. I think it's vital to stake everything out--including the rain fly. I figured out that the water was coming in at the ground/ac vents--not at the corners as I had originally thought. I never actually added any seam sealant because the amount of water than came in was so minimal--and this was after two very heavy rains and a severe thunderstorm. I will add...(I am reviewing the 12 person)...my little 6000BTU AC could not cool this huge tent. I bought a 10,000BTU, and it did great...as long as the tent was shaded. I highly recommend a shade cloth--aluminet is great if you don't have much shade from trees. We didn't spend much time at the campsite during the heat of the day, so it wasn't an issue. The AC kept us very cool at night on the humid gulf coast in late May. The biggest con for this tent is that it's just so bulky. It's not as heavy as my Kodiak Canvas, but it's close due to all the poles being attached to the body of the tent. Also, I haven't been able to set it up alone. I have had to have someone help me each time. I am 53--in decent shape. It's not hard to set up--it's just gangly and huge. Another huge pro for this tent: I love the little "porch" at the entrance. That is really so handy, and also enables you to go in and out of the tent during rain without it pouring into the tent. I love that feature. Overall, I am really glad I bought this. It was great for our beach trip. I really wanted my girls to be comfortable, and they were. A brief edit to my original review.... Compared to my Ozark Trail tent... This tent is definitely heavier and sturdier. Now I really love my little Ozark Trail tent. It has performed just as well in rain for me as this Bushnell, but I did want to add this comparison. The fabric alone on this Bushnell is heavier. You have to decide for yourself what is most important to you. I am glad I own both. The Ozark takes up MUCH less space to store and travel. But as long as you have help with set up and LOTS of cargo space to transport, I prefer the Bushnell.
