These suckers work five years later and through one machine wash cycle, call me impressed
By Katie on Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2025
I bought these back in November 2020. I love them for a variety of reasons. In particular I love them for running especially because I can only use one and keep one ear alert for traffic and people and animals, etc. Why do you ask that I am now writing a review five years later? I straight up put both earbuds through the washing machine complete cycle front loader washer, and they ended up in that little area where all the water comes rushing out within the little drum seal those suckers dried right out and are still working fine to this day. I did that about a month ago seriously impressed beats.

The Sound Quality Is Great, But....
By Shayleigh O'Hanlon on Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2021
So, I finally caved into the social trend and got them. Originally, I tried the Beats Studio 3, but those came with their own issues, pros, and cons, so I switched to these. The sound quality and noise cancellation on either is prime - that is not a debate and it is probably the only positive thing I have to say about these. Disclaimer: before you read on, to be fair, I will mention I thought about returning these to try another pair in case these ones were defective, but I am just too tired with my personal life right now and don't have time. The problems I am having is: One, when you first get these, they need to adjust to your ears and your ear need to adjust to them; there is some manual adjusting you can do to speed up the process but it's not automatic and my ears dealt with a lot of pain for a few weeks. And, I still do occasionally have a bit of pain (I bought these about a month and a half ago) if I have a long work day and some itching issues - mentioned in the next paragraph. Two, I clean these multiple times a day and still they and my ears get so much oil build up, I am concerned about infection or other health issues (if I wear them a while over the course of a day for zoom classes/meetings/appointments, my ears get really itchy) - not to mention the reduced quality of the earbuds over time. Three (the biggest issue I have), the pairing and power on and off is so glitchy and annoying. When I put them in the case, they NEVER unpair/power down automatically like Beats claims they do and I have to manually unpair them on my devices which I don't think turns them off so then there's the matter of battery and it's lifespan being worn out more than necessary. I have also noticed they sometimes do not charge even when they've been in the case for a while and should've powered down already (I just charged the charging case, so that wasn't the issue). You can imagine how this may impact my work day as I use them when I'm on zoom, which is a lot. I have woken up after a night of sleep, gotten on my computer, and had them still paired so I've occasionally spent quite a bit of time trying to figure out why the audio isn't working just to find it was going to the earbuds that are in their case. If I have one earbud in and choose to put on the other, it does not power up/pair until I take it out of the case and put it back again a few times. I have had a few instances where I had both earbuds in, decided to put one away, and doing so shut off both earbuds while I was still using the other. Sometimes I'll take both out of the case and only one will pair. In addition to cleaning the buds, I have religiously cleaned the case - I am a bit of a clean freak - and that isn't solving anything. Overall, the final product (the sound) is great, but I doubt I'll be buying these again just because of all the issues - which I never had with the cheap, $20 true wireless earbuds I had before I tried Beats. Sure, the sound quality isn't as good and they don't last as long, but it's good enough for me. So, I'll be using the Beats for as long as they last, or I can stand them (hopefully, that'll be a while given the price), and moving on. Edit: Removed a star due to just not being able to keep using these - I lasted about two months with them. Explanation below. In what I originally wrote earlier, I expressed that I would try to use these as long as possible and that didn't go very far. I am just done with these things. I'm done not being to use them because they wouldn't disconnect and turn off so they run out of battery. I'm done with the ear pain. I'm done with the itching and small pimples in my ears (not an issue with any other other earbuds I've had before or after). Beats did well with their audio but it is just not worth everything else and they need to refocus their efforts on the whole product rather than just one aspect. I decided to get Jabra 75t earbuds and their audio is, in my opinion, on par with what Beats delivers without the issues (note: I am an average person - not an audio expert; I am not going to critique some minor issue with the bass or something). Through Apple's 100% satisfaction plan (I can't remember the exact name of the policy), you can get a replacement or refund for a product you are dissatisfied with up to a year after purchase even if it is from a third party like Amazon. I will be pursuing this option for a refund.
