Better than expected...
By Ernest S. Laurel on Reviewed in the United States on July 4, 2022
Great way to start July 4th...it arrived today. All the way from Missouri to the Philippines in a few days. At least that's what UPS showed. It is definitely as advertised. It has everything it says in the advertising. Apparently I got mine from ECO TECH, LLC. I did want a backlit keyboard, but it was not advertised so it's not on there. A backlit keyboard would be about another $40. Easy enough to install. The Thunderbird port is why I opted for this unit and the fact that it can be upgraded. I check the speed and got about 1400MB/s. Fast enough for Thunderbolt 3 port, but after I install a TB M.2 NVMe I'll see if that improves. For now I'm fine with what it can do. I wouldn't suggest any serious gaming on here, but i got this for work. I use a lot of MS Access and Excel, not to mention Word and Power Point. It handles those very quickly so it's exactly what I was looking for. I got this for about $260, but the total was about $370 because I had to have it shipped to the Philippines. Even with that price I'm happy. I saw a Thinkpad here for $300 plus and it's nowhere near the specs of this machine. Additionally the Thunderbolt does allow faster charging though I had to try three different USB-C charges before one of them worked. In the end, this thing looks brand new. It feels brand new. But those Youtubers were right, it will show your greasy fingers on it. The camera on here seems to be better than the one on my M1 Macbook Air. The screen is perfect for productivity. Not sure I'll be doing any video editing on here, but I did find that the audio jack is much louder than any of my Macbook's (Air, Pro), my Huawei and my Asus. I recorded audio internally using Audacity and it reproduced the sound much louder without any clipping or distortion. I might have to see if I will prefer this as my audio studio from here on out. The fingerprint scanner works great though it's not as smooth as my Huawei or my Mac Air. My Macbook Pro doesn't have one, but my Asus fingerprint scanner is not as good as the one on here. The trackpad is accurate, smooth and comfortable. The keyboard....well...it crushes any of my Macbooks....and I've had three. They're right when they say Thinkpads have the best keyboards. This thing didn't have a scratch on it. As far as I can tell without opening it, it looks like it's never been out of the box. I'd easily recommend this laptop and the seller. Very happy with this purchase. Adding on the experience... It's been a few days now and I can't seem to get the battery indicator light to show if it's charging or not. It never lights up, but it does show charging on Windows 10 Pro with the standard or Thunderbolt charging ports. No matter, everything else makes up for that minor hiccup. I'm finding I'm using this more than my Macbook M1 Air. Probably because I've been working on MS Access again. Very stable machine. Update 3-27-23 Well...I sold my T-470. Not because it was bad, but I finally got to experience a solid ThinkPad. It was so good that I bought a ThinkPad with this designation (Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7820HQ CPU @ 2.90GHz 2.90 GHz). Yep...I bought an even faster and better one...with a backlit keyboard and 4K. I sold my T-470 to a friend and she absolutely loves it. It might be old, but I had upgraded it before I sold it so it's actually performing better than when I got it. But again....it was why I bought another ThinkPad. I wouldn't buy a new ThinkPad as they are pricey. I'd wait a year and buy a used one that's like these that I bought...like brand new. The one I bought would be thousands of dollars new....but I didn't come close to that. Not even a thousand dollars. Very happy with ThinkPad and I've owned very many MacBook Pros...including the new M1 Air.

The listing stated that the laptop would be in excellent condition, but it was definitely not. There was leftover sticker residue on the top of the laptop, glitter on the bottom of the laptop, crumbs in the keyboard, and upon taking the bottom of the laptop off there was cat hair and dust. I took the bottom off because the laptop has 2 batteries and battery number 1 is showing as not present. Battery number 2 is functional, but the laptop won't turn on unless I have it plugged in no matter what the battery percentage is. Overall, unhappy that I bought a listing that proclaimed to be in excellent condition but was not, and not to mention whatever is going on with the main battery that I now have to replace. I'm going to keep it anyways, I need it for class and don't wanna risk waiting for another one just for it to have issues too. :( ****update**** I am not a techy person, so I decided now that I'm a little less busy to go ahead and watch a video on how to remove the internal battery. I was planning to buy a new one since it was not being detected. Turns out, they shipped this laptop to me with NO internal battery to begin with. No wonder it wasn't being detected, it was never even there... Do better, refurbished means all of the bits, pieces, and parts that come with the laptop should be present and working. Very disappointed.
