Gets the job done with bare minimum of weight and bulk.

For me, a pillow is not a luxury item. Many people prefer to use a stuff sack filled with clothes or somethinf, but I have an old neck injury that can flare up if I sleep with my neck in an awkward position. It's very important to me that I have the proper head support, both for comfort and to avoid issues in the morning. Most pillows, even those designed for backpacking, are surprisingly heavy and bulky, even when compressed. This one isn't. Mine came out to 3 oz, including the stuff sack, and it really is only slightly larger than a deck of cards when deflated. It's tiny enough to throw in even the tiniest ultralight pack, or even a pocket if you're on a day hike. As a pillow it works well, though it's not as soft or squishy as a true pillow because it doesn't have any padding. The padding is what makes other pillows so bulky though. I consider this a more than worthwhile trade off. Sleeping in the woods is never going to have all of the creature comforts of home. In spite of feeling a little bit hard sometimes, it's still more than comfortable enough to sleep on. There is a small dent in it to keep it from crushing your ear, and if works surprisingly well. When unfolded it's very wide, but it can easily be folded as much or as little as needed to give the right height and support for your body and sleeping style. As someone who sometimes sleeps on my stomach and sometimes sleeps on my side, I liked being able to switch back and forth. The surface of the pillow isn't soft, so I put it in a pillow case from home. You could probably also substitute a handkerchief or a camp towel. It's also designed to be used as a camp seat. Unlike most pillows, it won't absort water and dirt just brushes off the surface. I probably wouldn't have bought it just for this, but I love being able to sit on the ground or a wet log without getting my butt wet. It's always wet here. It can also be used to kneel on, which is much more comfortable when building a fire or cooking over a camp stove. Then when it's time for bed I just brush off any dirt, shake the water off (or wipe it down if necessary) and then use it as a pillow. This also makes it a reasonable option for a day hike as well, if you are going to stop somewhere for a picnic or something. It can easily fit in a pants pocket and go with you anywhere you might want a seat. Inflating it only takes a second, and folding it is pretty quick and easy once you do it a couple times. I was concerned that it would be too much of a PIA to get all the air out, but it hasn't been a problem. I have also consistently been able to get it to fold back up into its original size. I do recommend reading the instructions that come with it though, and practicing at home. It's much easier to fold if you do it according to the instructions and don't just wing it. And it's dirt cheap. Can't beat that. If you want to save weight and space in your pack without sacrificing luxury, this is a cheap and easy way to do it.

A few tweaks and it would be perfect. Much needed inflatable pillow.

So I havent ever liked inflatable pillows because they arent adjustable. If you half inflate the air just pushes all to one jamming your head forward or off to the side. This gets even worse if your in a hammock and your whole set up is already slightly curved. This is the first ever inflatable pillow you can push and mush into whatever thickness you want. I can easily roll in the ends or fold it in half or leave it flat and make it cup my head the way my real pillow does. However it falls short on a few things. First they need to round the edges and second they need to make the material more comfortable. Ill do the material first. It doesnt feel very comfy its kind of a rough plastic-y feal as opposed to a more rubber softer texture. They could partially fix this if they created a thin fitted pillow case to go with it or even put some felt on one side. I know that will make it a little thicker but it will be so much more worth it. To fix it on my own i tried putting it into a pillow case myself and that half worked. However i could still feel the edges. The edges of the pillow are pointy uncomfortable things. Those edges poke at you even through my pillowcase i put on it i could still feel them annoyingly pushing at me. Seriously though if they rounded in the edges like their other pillow where the seam is inside instead. Maybe made one of the sides softer with felt and/or a pillow case. This would be the best inflatable pillow on the market and one of the only of its kind.

I've owned this cushion myself for several years and have used it as a sleeping pillow and versatile seat cushion on day hikes, backpacking trips, and sporting events. It's awesome and priced great for it's weight and versatility. Packs small and is so easy to inflate and deflate. Especially as a sleeping pillow, it might not be the ticket for everyone, as sleeping pillows are a very personal thing, but it worked fine for me. I highly recommend.
Good as a seat, not terrible as a pillow, at least in some configurations

Here is what I like: It is made of a tough fabric that is unlikely to fail if you aren't completely stupid about where you put it down. It is comfortable as a seat. It weighs almost nothing and is easy to blow up and take down. You can use it as a camping pillow as well as a seat. Here is what I don't like: I found the idea that you can fold it over multiple times to create a really thick pillow for side sleeping kind of absurd in practice. It makes the pillow very small and it is kind of unsteady. Without some way to lock it into place in that configuration it really doesn't cut it. Maybe if you are somebody who does not move at all in the night it could work, but I found it to be unworkable. That is not to say it can't really be a camping pillow. It can, if you leave it flat like a seat and then stick some clothes or whatever under it to get the height up. I found that is really not too bad at all. It is wide enough and big enough to be fairly comfortable. Understand that nobody has figured out how to make an air pillow as good as a regular one, that is why nobody uses one unless they are trying to cut weight on the trail. Klymit hasn't figured out this puzzle either, but their effort here is not bad. Interestingly, I think thinner is actually better and more comfortable than thicker when it comes to air pillows, because more air volume just creates that weird "pool float" feeling where you feel like there is no stability under you and your head rocks like it is floating on the ocean every time you shift your weight on it, even slightly. As this is a bit thinner, it has more stability and that makes it more comfortable. If you double it over, that is still usable, but you are starting to introduce much more float. It becomes unstable and basically worthless when you try to make it three levels high, as they suggest is possible.
A few tweaks and it would be perfect. Much needed inflatable pillow.

Perfect backpacking pillow!

My friend recommended this pillow while camping and I tried hers as a seat and was impressed with how comfortable it was. My friend used it primarily as a leg pillow and a seat in a pinch. I have used it for leg pillow, seat and float while swimming. I have found it to be extremely durable, well designed and ideal for backpacking due to its ultra lite weight and size. I have sat on rocks for hours and submerged in water and no leaks. Inflation valve is well designed and easy to use not to mention very airtight. The S shaped air tube of the pillow allows air to move around as you shift your weight making it more comfortable than other unpadded air pillows I have used. While swimming it provides just enough floatation to comfortably float and enjoy the water. I always sleep with a leg pillow at home and while camping this is infinitely Better than a folded up towel or jacket as a leg pillow. Great all around camping hiking swimming pillow small and light enough to take anywhere.
Super light. Great for side sleepers.

We all start out thinking a pillow for camping is silly. That's just extra weight! Then you end up wanting to air out the spare clothes that were going to be your pillow, or maybe you wake up with a button or zipper in your ear and you start to think, maybe a pound is better than the ground. Well this isn't a pound, not even 1/7th in fact. It inflates with maybe two breaths and then folds to a size that tucks into most mummy bags well. The round cups on the end work well to surround your ears or the back of your head, or you can flip it over for a flat pillow. It will fold back into it's bag if you want, but you really have to get all the air out first. I guess it's meant to be a seat too, though I've never tried that as I would rather not have to patch it. It is also too bad you can't pick the color you get on here. I would by it again if I could, the X pillows don't seem nearly as versatile.
Bigger than what I was expecting, also, better!

Klymit Cush Inflatable Pillow & Seat Cushion, Blue / Gray I was originally looking for an inflatable pillow to use inside of the pillow insert section of a Sea to Summit Premium Stretch Knit Expander LinerSea to Summit Premium Stretch Knit Expander Liners. I started thinking that if I was going to spend money to get an inflatable pillow, why not look for something that's multipurpose. Living in Alaska means that any time you want to fly out to the lower 48 that's going to be a LOT of time sitting in a cramped and usually uncomfortable seat. Why not get something that is small, portable, and a little more pleasant. The design of this inflatable pillow & seat cushion is ultimately what made me buy it. It's definitely unique and I was intrigued. The Klymit came folded flat inside of a pouch, a little larger than the size of my hand. I very small for how large it is when fully inflated. I was able to inflate the pillow/seat fully in one long breath. It really is wide enough for two people to use it when its flat, but mostly I will be folding the two end pieces inwards and sitting on it that way. I tried it out and it didn't feel like it was going to pop or bust open and I'm not exactly dainty flower sized, so that was a relief. I'll update this review after being able to use it on a plane and as a travel pillow. For now though, I was impressed with what I saw and using it as a seat cushion on a normal computer chair.
Ultralight backpacking pillow

This pillow is great for ultralight backpacking. It works as a seat too. You can lay on your back or side and adjust the height to fit. It is narrow so it will fit into your sleeping bag. It is soft for plastic and seems to be durable. The edges can be a bit scrathcy but can be moved to eliminate the problem. This pillow is no Thermarest pillow or a pillow from your bed. I rate it 5 stars for backpacking as an ultralight pillow. As a regular pillow where weight is not a problem then don't get this one, get a Thermarest. But, I can put this pillow into my Klmit X-frame stuff sack and they both come in at the weight of a can of soda and about the same size. I plan to buy more of these pillows for may family when we backpack or travel on airlines. For car camping though I have Thermarest pillows. God bless.

Still not sure if this was really needed for my backpacking trips. But, it doesn't weigh much, wasn't expensive, and gets used for various purposes. So, I've kept it in my pack.

It blows up and deflates very easily. I used this for my back while on long flights. Since it's inflatable, I could inflate it to a level that worked for me. I like that I could fold it as well. Overall, well worth the price.
