Netgear C6900 Provides Consistent Dependable Internet
By Ed on Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2021
Modem/Router works Great. I have WOW 200mbps service and this modem provides consistent speed for Zoom Video Meetings. I had the Netgear CG3000D before and it provided the 200 mbps speed but not consistent. It would freeze for a couple of seconds every now and then. This modem router fixed that problem. I can't review the wifi 2.4ghz and 5ghz portion because I have those antenna's turned off. I use 2 TP Link EAP115 in the front and back of the house connected to this device and they transmit dependable wifi signal. We can run 3 zoom meeting at the same time through wifi and host a 4th meeting through a direct connected computer with 200mbps service and not have any laptop or desktop freeze. This device can handle what ever you through at it. I normally have 17 devices connected between 4 amazon sticks, raspberry pi's, laptops, tablets, phones, etc. Did not come in original packaging but everything looks new and works great. Make sure you have good Cat5e of Cat 6 cables. I had cheap supposedly Cat5e cables from Ebay but only transmitted 60-100mbps speed. Test your cables, don't just think they will work because its labeled for 1,000mbps or 10,000mbps. (For the newbie's: You need a modem and router if you want to connect more than one device. Not just a modem and network switch. The modem will not assign IP addresses for multiple devices. OR you can just buy a modem router like this one.)

Good combo device, great price, WiFi not the strongest
By steve hunt on Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2021
I pay for 400mbs Comcast cable, and commonly get around 375 with this, which is great. It can peak at 450 on occasion. Setup was fine, the user interface is fine, I’ve used a Netgear router before and everything works like it should. This was a refurbished unit, it came in a nondescript brown box and not original packaging, but the condition is like new. The problem I have is consistent reliability of signal strength at the extremes of my house. I consistently get dropouts with my AppleTV on WiFi, several times a day. It doesn’t matter if I’m using the 2.4 or 5G. I have the device centrally located on 2nd floor of 2000 foot home (regular drywall walls with no insulation in interior walls). To be fair, my precious uber expensive modem router that I rented from Comcast did the same thing, but only once every few days (not several times a day). Funny thing is that my old Netgear AC1200 didn’t have dropouts much at all (lots of buffering with slower speeds and multiple users). I did a signal strength scan with the airport express app on my iPhone, and it showed I had -30db next to the router/modem, and -50db at the AppleTV. This is right on the edge of reliability for HD streaming, and probably too weak for 4K HDR. So I wish the antennas were a bit stronger, and I may have to revert to a powerline network solution for my streaming. I also get tons of dropouts when using WiFi downstairs with my iPhone 12pro max, so I know it is not just a weak receiver antenna in the AppleTV. I do like the built in splitter for 4 connections, the single or dual ports of similar devices are stupid. Wired speeds to my desktop gaming rig is great (350mbs download/22mbs upload). I know the upload speed is the limitation of my connection.

With the overload of WiFi use at home lately we had noticed significant lag and would lose signal. Finally decided to upgrade. After much debate I settled on the nighthawk. I chose refurbished since we were tight on funds and took a chance. I though I purchased the one with a USB port since I wanted to connect our old printer but I must have clicked on the wrong one. At first I was bummed. This is much bigger than our old router. Our Motorola modem was also tiny. But I decided to give it a chance. Holly crap!! I didn’t know we were streaming by Morse code before!! I can walk outside of our house, around the yard, into the basement, or crawl in the attic...FULL SIGNAL!! So...the cons: Big. Angled design so can’t set it in any other orientation other than vertical. (This one) doesn’t have a USB port. Perks: Star Trek looks. Killer signal strength. Easy set up. Refurbished made it affordable! Came boxed up professionally, clean, wrapped, and brand new with all necessary paperwork and accessories. VERY happy with this purchase.

My old modem/router died so replaced with this and I must admit this was worth the price. I got better speed, stronger signal and it takes less space than older 4 year old product. Was able to setup my wifi components fast and get them working great. With the 2.4 and 5.0 I like to balance the products I use so not to overwhelm the router. I would recommend and use xfinity for internet.
Well priced modem

The modem was easy to set up out of the box. I have been using it over a month and the unit has performed well. A few times, the internet dropped but the modem WiFi signal was consistent and steady. It has sufficient capacity to handle high speeds from your internet provider.

I'm not necessarily a tech guy and most things related to networking and I.T. fly over my head. That said, I had always heard that using a modem not supplied by the ISP could potentially boost internet/WIFI performance and I was not satisfied with the performance in our house so I gave this one a shot. Super, SUPER easy to setup. I followed the provided instructions, called my ISP to have the modem activated from their end and that was it. My speed, both WIFI and ethernet (powerline) are both much better now. I highly recommend this product, especially if you're like me and a bit hesitant to change because you're unsure how things work.
Works perfectly

Was skeptical because I bought this refurbished, but it's super fast and was easy to hook up. I'm using it for internet right now to post this review. I can stream videos from Amazon/Netflix/Hulu in hd with no problem. It's worth noting there's only me and my gf at my 1400 square foot house so there's never more than 2 people watching videos at the same time. People in bigger houses or households of 4-5 people might not have the same experience. I'd recommend doing the research, but this is perfect for my house.

We are in LOVE with this modem. Our bill was 100 per month. Xfinity sent us a new modem saying that we needed to return the one we have and pay more for the new one, or keep the old one and pay even more on top of that! No way. A friend told me about replacing the Xfinity modem with one like this and reducing our monthly bill. I ordered it, plugged it up, followed the directions included in the box. Before you know it (about 15 mins later) we were up and running on our own modem. We returned both boxes to Xfinity via UPS and received a notification a few days later that our bill was reduced to $53. Excellent WiFi signal. Super easy to install. And excellent value for the money we spent. I have zero complaints.
Not quite plug and play, but great tech support.

Not quite plug and play. The modem worked when plugged into the cable. Comcast said they had a solid connection. But, the wireless router side was not working right. I had to call netgear tech support to get the modem reset and then everything worked well. Tech support technician was excellent, knowledgeable, polite and very helpful. The packaging was pretty generic and documentation was quite nonexistant.
