I am surprised by how well it cleans
By Amazon Customer on Reviewed in the United States on March 12, 2021
I love my Eufy. I originally bought the 11-S but returned it to buy the 30 Edge because I realized that I needed the magnetic strips to keep it out of areas I didn't want it to go.The extra cost is well worth it. I also like being able to start it from anywhere with the app.Pros:I have all hardwood floors and It does a terrific job. It very rarely leaves anything behind. The suction is sufficient for whatever it runs into. I keep it set on Boost IQ or Turbo because I have a two-bedroom condo so the higher power really won't drain the battery to empty before it's done. The Boost IQ is the ideal setting, I think, because it conserves battery but still boosts the power if it runs into a heavy cleaning job.The app works well and is easy to use. I would prefer for the manual steering controls to be on the main page instead of in the settings menu.It is really good at working its way out of tight places. My refrigerator door is a couple centimeters higher than Eufy. But it still gets in there. Sometimes it sounds like it will get stuck but it always works its way out.The Eufy comes with more than enough magnetic strips. I use less than half of them.Cons:My wife has long hair and a lot of it ends up on the bathroom floor. Eufy cleans it all up but it can get wrapped around the cleaning brush and wheels. However that does not seem to interfere with its function. Included with the Eufy is a cleaning tool that does a great job of getting it out. This is not a con but rather a tip. I wear a pair of rubber gloves to empty the dust collector and clean the brushes. Also, I cut a thin piece of wood trim to the width of my hallway, then I attached the magnetic strips to it. So when I want to keep my Eufy out of an area I just reach in the closet and plop down the magnetic trim rather than unroll the magnetic strips every time. The magnetic trim has a sticky side to adhere to the floor. But I figured the adhesive would lose its stickiness after several times of sticking and unsticking it to the floors.

The G30 Edge Doesn’t Fully Clean Carpeted Area
By John N. on Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2020
I really wanted to love this robot Vacuum and I actually worked hard at it. When I got the G30 Edge I tried it out over an entire level. It struggled to do an entire level accurately. So, I ran it in each bedroom individually. Not really a big problem… just a little disappointment. What I really appreciated is the height. It fit under every piece of furniture I had, whereas my older Roomba would get stuck in places because of its height. I also liked the magnetic boundary strips and it’s fairly quite. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.The first thing I noticed is that the mapping function created very bizarre looking maps of all my rooms. So, I set up one of the bedrooms as a test room. It is a 16 x 16 room with a bed, two nightstands a dresser and a desk with a chair. Pretty much a typical bedroom. I then proceeded to run the G30 several times without moving the charging station. Each time I got a different and very strange looking map and not a single one looked like any of the others. So, my question was “Is this only a mapping function error or is this a navigation problem that is affecting the actual cleaning performance? After a couple more test runs, each creating a different map, I contacted customer support and provided pictures of the room, images of the resulting maps and a list of my observations as I watched the G30 go through a cleaning cycle. What I observed was that it started out going in a defined up and down pattern. Over time it started to behave as though it were lost. It would go over the same areas many many times. Often it would cover the same area as much as 10 times before going to another previously cleaned and then back again. While there were areas that the G30 did not clean at all.Customer service was very apologetic, passed on my information to their Product Team and provided me with a beta firmware version to try. Unfortunately that version the mapping was actually worse than the original version. The G30 also continued to keep randomly cleaning some areas until the battery power hit a critical level and it returned to the charging station. Never finishing the job and taking an incredible amount of time and all of the battery power to not fully clean a relatively normal room. After many emails the Product Team finally stated that the G30 doesn’t work well on carpeted areas and that “…the cleaning report is for our customer to review the cleaning time and area”. So, while the Amazon web page states “App Control with Cleaning History: Complete all your cleaning needs right from your smartphone. When the job is done check-out where and when your RoboVac cleaned. “. Also, “When the job is done check-out where and when your RoboVac cleaned on the clear and informative cleaning history.” That’s not really true on carpeting. So, the mapping function really doesn’t work and is pretty much an advertising gimmick. So, what about the G30’s cleaning abilities? The reason I’m confident that the G30 Edge does not fully clean a carpeted room, is that after the first two test runs, the G30 only had a minimal amount of dust in the bin for the next few cleaning tests that I conducted on either the same or consecutive days. Pretty much what you would expect. However, on the last run it ended up with a full bin. Since I cleaned the bin after each test, it is clear that the G30 was not cleaning the entire room each time. I believe this is a good indication that the issue is more than just a mapping problem. I returned the G30 and received a hassle free refund. So, what rating do you give a product that doesn’t really do what it’s designed to do… but, has an excellent customer service organization? Basically a zero… it doesn’t do what you bought it for. I’m comfortable giving it a 1 because of excellent customer service. However, despite great customer service… I don’t believe you should buy the G30 if you have carpeting to clean. I can’t comment on other flooring.
