I got this to monitor my house when away. Both for intruders or possible damage from water leaks. It worked great for that. I then used it to figure out what animal was eating figs from my small tree. We found out it was several (rat, racoon, and opossum). We had endless fun after that watching animals in our garden, compost pile and so on. It has a great range. Some places we mounted it were 200 feet from the base station. I like that I can use it and get history without a paying any monthly fee. I strongly recommend it, for both security and watching wildlife. Attached is an example of some fun video it captured.

Invested in NINE Arlo cameras - WASTE OF MONEY - complete FRUSTRATION!!
By LoveMyDog on Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2021
We have had Arlo for about five years +. First, invested in a bundle of three first-generation cameras with batteries - sucked batteries like crazy. Total, we have invested in sixty rechargeable batteries (not cheap) to keep the cameras going. The lifespan on the rechargeable batteries is not long when you have to CONSTANTLY be rotating them. The charge lasts about three days. Such a HEADACHE. Power was the first battle. Somewhat solved that with the additional investment. Next, the cameras would not stay online - needed to re-sync them with the base station repeatedly. Also would not stay connected to the mobile app. The times when we wanted to go back and review a video clip - the cameras were offline - constantly. Isn't security and monitoring the point of having cameras??? Bought a second bundle to get a new base station and try that. The second base station has worked a little better - not great. One by one, the original cameras we purchased have stopped working all together - we have two of the six that still work sometimes with rechargeable batteries. When the rechargeable Arlo Pro 2 came out, we invested in three of them. Trying to keep life support breathed into the system we have already sunk a bunch of wasted money in. We go between changing batteries in the two cameras, and keep two Pro 2's plugged into the charging cords so we can rotate one of our three Pro 2 cameras outside. The rechargeable batteries are at the end of their life, so the two cameras that are on the battery system need more investment to keep them running. BUT - is it worth it - to deal with battery changing on two cameras that likely will crap out before too long. NOW - Arlo has updated their app, YET AGAIN, and we cannot get one of the three Pro 2 cameras to sync at all. The other two won't stay connected for more than a few minutes - error messages.......... It's about time to call this what it is. Money flushed down the toilet. It's a vicious cycle - get sucked into the handy bundle thinking you'll have it licked - easy way to monitor your home - then keep having to buy, buy, buy - not only equipment, power, etc, but the amount of time you will spend on trying to maintain your SANITY is immeasurable. We have spent hours/days standing next to our base station with our laptop, trying to sync, troubleshoot, reinstall the app on our phone, spin, spin, spin. It's enough to make you smash the whole thing with a sledge hammer. The moral of this long testimonial is to SAVE YOU FROM THE SAME trip down the primrose path. Just don't do it, friends. ARLO IS NOTHING BUT JUNK. The negative reviews are the truth. If you love misery, get an Arlo system.
