It's Great but does have some quirks.
By Hazonku on Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2022
I spent 2 months watching various YouTube videos, learning about portable projectors, & how to shop for them so let me save you the headache. This thing is good. Not the best, but definitely the best bang for your buck in the portable mid tier range. Pros: Android TV (run apps, games, whatever is on the Android TV version of Play Store) no proprietary OS nonsense. A couple GBs of onboard storage have allowed me to install a custom build of Kodi, VLC, Twitch, & RetroArch, WiFi AND Bluetooth You can totally screen mirror Android and I've had no issues hooking up my Xbox controller or my headset. The 8 watt speaker is AMAZING for how small this thing is. ACTUAL Native 720p resolution! I learned really quick that the cheaper projectors like to list HD but they're full of crap. That's not the projector resolution they're listing, that's the video resolutions you can input to it. Most of the cheaper ones project 480p. This thing is legit 720p. The auto focus & keystone are great (there's a con to the keystone though & we'll get to that). Cons: 200 ANSI Lumen isn't all that bright. It's better than most portables but this is definitely a dark room projector. The battery life sucks. You're only going to get the advertised 2.5 hours in battery mode (1/2 brightness) with the WiFi/Bluetooth off and at about half volume. HIGHLY suggest pairing this thing with a 10,000mAh USB brick. I even hooked it up to an invertor & an old 12 volt car battery once just fine. Netflix doesn't work. That's not the projector's fault btw, Netflix are just SUPER picky about what can use their apps. You can't even screen mirror Netflix to this thing. On the bright side there IS a work around. You have to download the Nebula Manager app on the projector, run Netflix through THAT, then download the Nebula Companion app on a separate phone or tablet. Netflix will work but the trade off is your remote is almost useless in there & you have to then use a virtual remote on your phone or tablet in the Nebula Companion app. It's definitely not ideal but it DOES work. We just binged the new Cyberpunk anime that way. Lastly, and the only REAL pain for me is no horizontal keystone. It's super frustrating because it's running a digital keystone & the vertical is REALLY good. Anker PLEASE push a firmware update & give us horizontal keystone already. Lastly the price. I waited to catch this thing on sale for $429.99 & that's a decent price for what all you get in one tiny unit. I wouldn't pay more than $450 for it given the the lack of digital horizontal keystone. There's cheap $100 projectors that have that. I know it's just a software fix & I KNOW you're only doing it to sell the Capsule Max. Plenty of people will still buy the Max for the better battery life, push the update you cowards! All in all I'm happy with my projector. If you NEED more battery life you can get the Max that has all the same specs as this thing and allegedly does 4.5 hours as well as horizontal keystone too. Literally the only difference is this one has real AndroidTV and runs off of USB-C. Those were the deciding factors for me. Hope this helps some of you in your decision.

Terrible purchase — a costly mistake.
By Jessica R. on Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2024
I regret to say that this is one of the worst purchasing experiences I've ever had. I bought this projector, my second from this brand, expecting premium quality given the high price. Unfortunately, it has proven to be a waste of money and trust. The projector no longer works with the charger it came with, leaving it nearly useless since it won't take a charge. I reached out to customer service, expecting some resolution or, at the very least, guidance. Instead, I was told to "look for a replacement charger myself." Seriously? For a product this expensive, that is unacceptable. I invested in this brand twice, believing in its reputation, but after this experience, I will never purchase from them again. A product that can't perform a basic function like charging, combined with dismissive customer service, is a dealbreaker. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere for a reliable projector. This one isn't it.
