Very Happy with this Roav product!

Roav’s DashCam Duo is a great camera. I installed it recently and I am loving it. This device has a camera that points forward, catching the vehicles and everything that’s in front of you. This device also has a camera that records the interior of your vehicle. This device also records all of the audio that is inside of the vehicle. Both of the cameras use a Sony sensor to record the video, which results in a very high quality image that captures a lot of detail. I am disappointed with the size of the display screen, as I was hoping it would be considerably bigger (but the size of the entire device is small and compact, which is great for not obstructing your view out the window). Both cameras can be set to record in 720P or 1080P. I have installed a 64GB micro memory chip, and that holds plenty of video for me, many hours. I am happy that it does have night vision for the interior camera, but the amount of IR light emitted could be bigger, so as to see a wider area inside the vehicle (it appears that about half of the cameras field-of-view is not illuminated by the IR lights). The display can be set to always on (which I must have to help prevent my Uber passengers from acting unruly), but it does a picture-in-picture function where the front camera image is displayed over the cabin image, and that cuts off or blocks the passenger’s head in the display. It should be set so that the driver’s head is cut off (this is only a problem in countries like the U.S. where the steering wheel is on the left side of the car) or it should be adjustable in the settings, as to where you want the PIP to be. You can set the internal GPS function on, and set it to MPH or KPH, and the unit will display a time-stamp with your current speed, imprinted on the final videos. When I unboxed and started testing the unit when I first got it, the unit seemed to be defective. I played with it a little more, but it seemed that the front-facing camera was not working, it produced a black video. After reviewing the video in my computer, I realized that it was recording video and audio. After examining the unit closer, I discovered a black tape that was over the lens of only the front camera, not the interior facing camera. I hadn’t noticed that tape. After taking the tape off, the camera works flawlessly, of course. However, the audio could be a little better.

better than some, worse than others-

I ordered two of these technically- the first one had some sort of issue with a sensor or something tearing loose on the inside of the unit. The background of each camera (front and rear both) would display in a neon pink with static at the edges. It started within one day of hooking up the device, not directly from the box. Happily- Amazon exchanged the device for another without any issues. The 2nd unit has no issues with screen/image tearing or display problems at all that i can see. I've got mine hardwired in via a separate kit, in order to enable the parking mode. So far- it seems to be working perfectly and hasn't drained the battery in any way. The rear camera is nice to record the interior of my pickup, as well as beyond the back window. The device UI is very nice and simple to navigate in my opinion. The cons: - Picture quality leaves a lot to be desired, but that seems to be standard with a lot of these devices despite whatever the technical specs say. - Most likely you'll need additional ball joint connectors to make the unit fit (if you choose to mount it around your rear view mirror. Not a dealbreaker but something to keep in mind. - The collision detecting on the unit is WAY too sensitive, even on the "low" setting. Every single bump in the road or jostle going down the highway triggers as a collision, which then locks that section of video until you go in and delete it or format the sd card again. This isn't a complete dealbreaker but it is a major annoyance. You must remember to clear the files out or format at least once a week or the device will quickly fill up and then you won't have the space to record when you need it. The only other option is to turn off the collision detection, but then what would be the point in enabling the parking mode either? All in all- I'm satisfied with the device for the price i paid (on sale via coupon- I wouldn't pay full price for this one as is). If Anker was able to update the device software to tune the camera a bit better, as well as adjust the collision detection, this would be an instant must buy for everyone I think.
