Low key cheap gaming rig
By A B on Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2020
Fantastic small desktop. Boots up incredibly fast, especially with a little more RAM and a small SSD added for the OS. Enough room to add a single fan GPU. Turned out to be an incredible little gaming machine. Pros: Powerful Very quiet Small form factor but still mildly upgradable Eye pleasing design Cons: Small custom power supply, not able to upgrade No media expansion bays Absolutely love it for the price I paid. I feel like I stole it at this price.

DO NOT BUY AMAZON RENEWED
By James on Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2019
AMAZON RENEWED IS NOT SOLD DIRECTLY FROM AMAZON AND THEY DO NOT STAND BY THE WARRANTY. I bought this HP very excited, My old system has the i5-2400 it is from 2011 and I was happy to upgrade. It was time. I use this as a work station for my work from home CSR job. I had this HP tower for LITERALLY one day. Then it started to give me a critical component error meaning the hardware was damaged. I am gentle with my computers, I don't toss them around or mod them. This item was defective. I called Amazon customer service to request a replacement ASAP as I had a project which needed to be finished for my job. They informed me that they cannot send replacements as they are not truly sold by amazon and they are sold third party and they have nothing to do with their inventory or quality of product. THIS IS A WARNING TO ALL AMAZON BUYERS DO NOT BUY AMAZON RENEWED THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THE WARRANTY DO NOT LET WHAT HAPPENED TO ME HAPPEN TO YOU.

Great machine with a few tweaks

Refurbished condition was near perfect, and it came with a wireless keyboard an mouse. I added another 8GB RAM, a GTX 1050ti and a 500GB SSD for boot drive, then switched the HDD to storage with the Optane linked. It needed a BIOS update and some new drivers and it was ready to go. Perfect computer for my daughters room and will handle just about any game that she’d like to play. Even does well on more demanding titles on medium settings(limited by the video card since the power supply cannot be swapped). Overall, it’s a great machine for the price point.
Works fine

Bought this refurbished HP to replace an older Lenovo that was dying. I don;t need top notch speed (already have a computer for that). This HP arrived without any damage, booted up without any issue. It came with the keyboard, mouse and power cord. No manual (which I downloaded). All functions work (WiFi, LAN, etc) and I just updated the OS on line to rev 1903 of Win 10 Home without any issue. It's a refurb BUT it's working and ii s doing the job. No complaints ... just note that with the on-chip video, this is NOT a gamer machine although you can add a card.
Pretty Darn Good for the Price

I like to buy refurbished desktop computers instead of new. I had a similar HP that only lasted about a year that had an AMD a12 processor. With a fast internet connection (100mbps+) this machine sails very fast for my needs. Surfing, banking, general personal business, moderate video and music, and pictures, this Intel I5-6 core does the job for me.

The best investment I've yet to make is my HP Pavilion, and I don't have a dog in the fight.

I purchased my HP Pavilion desktop more than four years ago and initially had had an issue with the power button which I quickly learned to rectify. Since then, the HP tower has paid for itself over and over and over again. When it dies, I'll buy another one because I operate my computers to the nth degree with videos, books, Adobe products, Camtasia, Word, and many other programs all open together. Honestly, this computer is the best bang for the buck I've yet to enjoy. Great deal!
Fast and efficient. Not 5.1 sound, and video is not very good for two monitors.

I got this computer refurbished and it looks like new. The so called instruction manual is not going to help you. Fortunately I used to build and repair computers so not a problem for me. As per sound, they say it comes with an output for 5.1 sound and that is not true, it comes with a stereo jack port. For a 5.1 you need 3 jacks ports this computer has three but only one is stereo output, the other one is mic in and one is aux in. You should be able to get 5.1 sound via Bluetooth but is not a regular port. As per video it comes only with one VGA an one HDMI port. My old computer and most good video cards I know used to have one VGA and one DVI. First I thought this must be the modern way as HDMI is the newer type of video, and maybe it is, unfortunately is not good for computers. I have two monitors and the one connected to HDMI produced a wash-out image no matter the adjustments on the monitor. I tried everything and finally I Google the problem, it turns out it is a problem of HDMI, apparently it converts blacks to greys so the image is horrible. I tried everything to fix it. I even try to create a custom setting on the video as I read it could solve the problem. This is a very dangerous thing to do. You can damage the video card or even toast the entire motherboard. Still I did it and after many attempts and for no apparent reason it started to work. Now I can not use the 1920x1080 resolution as it cause a flick on the other monitor, but both monitors work at an acceptable level in the next lower resolution. Still not very happy and the problem seem to be the Intel video chipset on this computer. Of course a new video card ($45-$100) will solve the problem but I really was not happy to spend the extra money on a new card for a new computer. Is like buying a new car and having to buy new tires because the ones that come with the car are not good. By the way I thought that the HDMI may be only suitable for a TV so I even try connecting a TV to that port and the image was even worst. On the bright side the computer is small, silent and very fast. So is a good computer with a bad video set and not 5.1 sound. The keyboard is not good either, it feels cheap and noisy. Both the keyboard and the mouse are wireless and they use two AAA batteries each.

This is a great computer with a really good price ( I bought it and a printer for under the price from Wal-Mart) and it has been performing exceptionally well, I have not done any gaming with it (and don't plan to) so I don't know how well it's multiprocessor works.

the included keyboard was defective with multiple keys falling apart and not able to repair. called support for replacement that was not available and value replacement refund was given. the computer has been working fine for past month without hiccups. clean unit without cosmetic defects and optane memory boots up fast. harddrive is 7200 rpm and not 5400 and built in wifi works well. no 6 pin power adaptor so limited to using graffix card of 75W or less that gets power thru PCIe.
Better than expected.

Up and running right out of the box. Have had it running about 8 hours a day for a few months now and am very satisfied. It's faster than my i7 laptop and only issue I had was display issue with the Dell monitor that I was using. Replaced it with a 27' LG monitor and the display is big and clear. Am pretty happy with it at this point. Will update if any issues occur.
