Happy Camper! Refurbished. painless install with Xfinity app.

I purchased this DOCSIS 3.1 to replace a mostly working 3.0 modem I activated it at 02:00 (2AM) using Android apps. Activation was painless. I did not have to interact with customer support at all. I first installed the Arris Surfboard app then installed the Xfinity app. The device does not have a QR code so I manually entered the MAC address into the app. Mark the calendar, I had 1 pleasant interaction with Xfinity! ;-) I did have to power cycle it one extra time and I also had to reboot the router for the router to find gateway/WAN info. I'm not convinced I 'needed' this device but now I have a device Xfinity suggested that they can't blame. It works well.

I bought this refurbished modem in August 2024 and here we are 9 months later and I had to buy a brand new one. Definitely buy the protection plan if you opt for refurbished. Just quit working one day and, as you can tell, the new power cord did NOT fix the problem.
