DOES NOT WASH WELL!
By Love to shop on Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2022
It is stuffed full of fluffy down, very warm, holding in all your body heat. This coat is perfectly acceptable for the frigid below zero temperatures and the bone chilling , violent winds that whip us about here in Chicago. The extra details that mean everything when you have them are worth the extra cost. For example, where this coat touches your neck, chin and chest it’s lined with a thick, soft, comfy, warm lining material. This lining extends to the front left and right panels of the coat, extending to the waist, then wraps around to the whole upper back chest area to the waist and down inside of 2 (outer) of the 4 zippered pockets. There is also a sturdy, soft matching cuff that keeps air from rushing up your arms while keeping in your needed body heat. This coat does not reach my knees but hits me at my mid upper thigh. The zippers are very good quality, will last over many years of machine washes and tumbles in the dryer. The fur ruff removes easily for washing and is just as easy to put back on. My only complaint is the outer material. It is thin and stains easily. I bought the green color and I have had to wash this coat already. While holding a bag of take out on my lap, grease bled through the brown paper bag onto the bottom of my coat. I quickly put some liquid detergent on the stained area, removed the ruff and machine washed and dried the coat immediately. Unfortunately, the outline of the grease stain is still visible. This is not what I expected in a $300.00 coat. I have a similar coat from Eddie Bauer (EB) that washes and dries beautifully because the outer material is a much thicker, sturdier better quality material. The down fp is only 500 in the EB coat and sadly not as warm as Marmot . The EB coat has all of the above features that are very important to me, excellent zippers, soft, velour like lining that is on the upper inside of the coat, sleeve cuffs that keep heat in, drafts out and a functional hood with removable ruff. If EB only offered a red, 800 fp down coat, I wouldn’t have looked elsewhere. For the most part, this is a good, warm coat and I will wear it. I initially ordered a size M but returned it for a L, it was tight in the bust area. When bringing it back for an exchange, I sang it’s praises to several people standing in the Amazon return line at Kohl’s. You can easily see the quality of the coat and quantity of the down. My opinion changed only after I washed the coat.

Zipper broke after 1 use
By Mitchell Laski on Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2020
Edit: I never wore it much because the zipper kept sticking and was not a dream as I earlier wrote. I went to use it today and tge double slider malfunctioned so now I have a broken zipper on a coat I probably wore once. live in Nebraska where temperatures range from below zero to 45 degrees sometimes on the same day. I love this coat for those zero to 40 degree days. It has a warm fleece lining that makes it extra warm. I bought it back in November when the price was half what it is now. I definitely got a bargain for the value of this coat. The double zipper is a dream and slides with ease. The sleeve cuffs are extra warm with more fleece on an inner cuff. The coat has great deep pockets that zip shut, some I have never used like a secret cell phone or cash stash pocket that you reach from inside the coat. The hood is oversized but works great in addition to a hat. I am 59 and get really cold but have never felt cold when wearing this coat. I would like a longer version down past my knees but this one is great, hitting mid thigh. I am 5'7, 145 lbs, wear a size 12 Jean and large shirt. I bought X Large and it fits great, definitely the right size for me.

Minus the horrible packaging - fits perfectly and so warm!!

I purchased this jacket for visiting Yellowstone National Park in May when it was still snowing, averaging mid-40s during the day and low-30s at night. Never once did I feel cold and it was great against some minor wind too. I also love the silver-white color of the Glacier Grey! Sizing was also not an issue in arms, butt or chest for me - 5’4,” weigh, 127-129 lbs, 27 pant, B cup, balanced arm length to my torso. I have somewhat of an hourglass shape - broader shoulders and a rather large behind for my size - and felt zero strain or restrictions wearing this jacket. It moved comfortably. I can see how others might struggle with this jacket fitting, it honestly felt like it was made for me minus it being a little longer for my height than I would like. I believe this jacket is best suited for those between heights of 5-5’7” and weight 110-150 lbs, A-C cups, 24-29 pant. If you are larger in the chest, arms or waist/hips then this jacket probably won’t work for you. My only complaint was how it was shipped - the jacket was a complete nightmare upon arrival because of adhesive on the protective bag was open and got stuck to the entire right arm of the jacket. Someone had clearly opened and returned it, possibly had been returned a few times, because the bag was pretty beat up and the adhesive was covered in dirty lint/fuzz. When peeling it off the jacket, it left a horribly dark, sticky residue. We were leaving for our trip the next day and I needed this jacket, so I busted out the Goo Gone and sat for about 30 minutes scrapping the sticky stuff off with a cuticle pusher and then scrubbing at the last parts with stain remover. It came off without leaving any stains, but ever-so-slighty the technical weave of the jacket’s material was broken by rubbing it too hard with the metal cuticle tool. Needless to say, I shouldn’t have had to go about cleaning and repairing my own jacket, but I also didn’t care enough to return it since it was going to be worn outdoors in the elements.
Runs small, so it's great for a petite person like me!

I have a very hard time finding clothing that fits properly, especially outerwear. Throughout the past winter I've tried on a zillion coats and actually purchased/ordered over 20 (yes, really). I bought this one specifically because I saw consistent reviews stating it runs a full size small, and I'd say that's accurate. I'm 5'1", <100 lbs, ~30C/32B and I normally need an XXS/00 petite. I'm so glad I got this coat in an XS--it works perfectly. I find it totally comfortable and I can still layer a sweater or sweatshirt underneath. The arms are not oversized balloons like most other down or insulated coats. The baffling is wide, so it's puffy and the silhouette does flare a bit, but it fits my torso well and it's very warm and easy to move in (standing/walking/sitting/stairs). The way the coat is lined is great. The cuffs are a regular fleece, but the body has a fuzzier/minky cozy fleece. The collar is soft and the pocket lining is kind of micro-fleece-ish, but doesn't catch on dry skin (YAY!). The collar is not too tall, so you can zip it up all the way as needed without feeling like you're wearing some sort of medical brace. The hood is fairly fitted, which is good in my opinion because it will stay put in windy weather. The faux fur isn't the best I've seen but it's not the worst, and you can remove it if you want. On the inside, there's a deep slip pocket at the left chest (i.e., open w/o zipper) and a zip pocket at the right chest. Another little feature that I love is the front main zipper stops about an inch above the hem, which means the bottom zipper pull doesn't extend beyond the hemline of the coat. That always annoys me, so I was pleasantly surprised by this thoughtful design feature. The fabric is not so thin that it feels certain to rip/pull, but it is quite lightweight; it's matte and doesn't rustle loudly as you move. I tried the Marmot Strollbridge coat as well, which I liked for some superficial design features like the baffling and the magnetic placket that covers the zipper, but it didn't work as well overall and the color was a little too off-black. FYI, even though the photos don't accurately reflect this, the difference between "Black" and "Jet Black" on the Montreal coat is that "Black" has contrasting medium-grey stitching for the Marmot logo, while the "Jet Black" has what I consider to be nicer, much less obvious black stitching (as seen in the image). I'd highly recommend this as a very warm mid-thigh coat that's light as far as literal weight in pounds/ounces goes. I would recommend ordering a size up from your regular size, and regardless of what that is, I don't think this is the right choice for someone who is particularly busty or has proportionately larger arms.
Es muy liviana. Mantiene caliente el cuerpo a pesar del frio y el viento

I love this jacket! It is super soft because of the high quality fabric and the down fill. I live in Minnesota and it gets crazy cold. This jacket will stand up perfectly to our winters. I’ve had this on my saved list for almost 3 years and it went on super sale in the summer, so I pounced. I will update this post if I have issues with the water resistance, or ability to keep me warm this winter, but I have experience with Marmot and this brand usually has great products that hold up over the years. I wear a size 20 and am 5’5” about 250lbs. I probably could have sized down to a 2XL, but the 3XL fits loosely and fits comfortably around my thighs. I would suggest to measure, unlike me, before you order if you would like a perfect fit with minimal spacing at the bottom to allow frigid underflows. Very happy with this purchase.
Freeze No More - Solution to All Your Winter Needs

Freeze no more! Have you been searching for the perfect jacket that will keep you warm during those awful winter months? If you answered yes to this question, there is a solution to your needs! This Marmot Women’s Montreal jacket will make you never want to purchase a jacket again, nor will you have to! This jacket is perfect for a college student who must walk miles to class during those awful blizzards. Or are you a mother who cheers her children on to victory, while suffering the cold? Well suffer no more! Marmot’s women’s Montreal jacket has the best options when it comes to color, ranks highest in quality, and most importantly; doesn’t false advertise on the effectiveness of the product. Color: Many jackets displayed on the market are simply offered in only two colors. Worry no more – this jacket is not only offered in more than two colors, but is offered in a total of eight colors! If you’re feeling bold and radiant, there’s a dark crimson (red) or if you’re a more settle individual; midnight navy would do wonders for your taste! You could even buy a jacket to match with your school colors! Quality: This jacket isn’t your typical jacket. Although these jackets are priced at about $218, the quality makes the price worth it. Most jacket designers don’t keep your hands in mind when creating a jacket even though that’s usually one of the colder parts of our body when outside. Taken this into consideration, the Marmot jacket has micro fleeced lined zip hand-warmer pockets. This may seem as a very small detail, but a very convenient and useful detail. Let’s talk about the jacket itself now! The jacket is 100% Polyester with 700 fill power down. One last important touch, the removable, also power down, hoodie that is lined with synthetic fur ruff. Effectiveness: The effectiveness of this jacket is what made me fall in love with this jacket. Down insulation is much warmer than the typical synthetic jacket. Down usually lasts longer, and not to mention the feathers help with breathability. On average a synthetic jacket will lose it’s effectiveness in 5-7 years, whereas a down jacket can retain it’s warmth for up to 10-20 years (Wellman, 2016). I would recommend this jacket to anyone wanting a forever lasting jacket – a jacket that will keep them warm through all the unbearable winter months. Marmot makes their competitors wish they had the same color options, the warming quality, and the effectiveness of the down feathers. Works Cited Wellman, Andy. I’m 5’8” 155-160 lbs and got an XL. L would fit but I wanted to layer for an upcoming trip. It is perfectly spacious without swallowing me and still hugging close enough to keep me warm. It is warm, comfortable, light and flexible (not stiff n crunchy). It’s beautiful too (still wrinkled from packaging in the photo). I thought the color looked cream/champagne ish online, but in person it’s like a silvery lichen green. It’s neutral enough to go with any color but its own color is also attractive. Will update my review to see if it holds up over time. I bought it when this color and size was at the best price available :) the hood is a little tight for a hat, but is perfect for a baclava or neck warmer. I kind of appreciate that the hood is small so it would keep heat in inside of being big n floppy.
