Kills my shrimp

Every time I use this product it kills my shrimp. I thought I might have been over-applying it, but after not using it for 6 months and trying again I added a fraction of the scoop in my 30 gallon tank and within 24 hours half of my shrimp were dead. I bought a few Glasgarten products several months ago so I might be tossing everything and trying a different brand.
