If you want the game, this is THE physical copy to have!
By Bradley Tobin on Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2019
I've been wanting this game since I heard it was getting ported to the Switch since I had missed out on the original releases so long ago, but I wad incredibly disappointed to hear it was being released in the US and EU as a digital-only title. But then I came across this and was very hesitant to buy it. I did a lot of research and was assured that it had English support, so I went ahead and bought it. When it arrived, much to my surprise from the instant I inserted the cartridge the game showed up as if it had been in English already! Even initially starting the game automatically loaded up with menus in English as well, no settings change required! After several hours of playing I can absolutely say that this Amazon listing is somewhat misleading; it claims that only English subtitles are supported, which is technically correct as the game is 99% subtitles anyway, but there are a handful of spoken words as well, which really only appear during the court case segments; these turned out to be in English as well, so I can confirm with absolute certainty that this Japanese physical copy also has FULL English support! If you've been wanting a physical copy of this game, go ahead and pick it up! As for the game itself, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is a fantastic interactive visual novel style of game and likely one of the games that launched the genre into popularity. You play as Phoenix Wright, a junior defense attorney specializing in defending clients in murder cases. Throughout the game you talk to lots of varied and unique characters and collect evidence for the trial. During court cases, you hear testimonies of witnesses and have to carefully cross-examine them, press for more information, and present evidence contradicting their testimonies to discover the truth! It's fun, relaxing, and sometimes intense, but asks a good amount of critical thinking and analyzing details. Overall, Phoenix Wright is a fantastic series of games, and I can't wait to dive into more of it!
