What a Wowsa! (What a Deal!)

The Apple MacBook is a truly amazing device. A laptop with lots of power for everyday things that is also a gorgeous piece of artwork. And it is so small and light that it boggles the mind. As a long-time and very active computer user I only fairly recently switched to Macs from PCs. The transition was fairly easy -- far easier than I expected -- and the joys immense. I have found that my Macs -- an all-in-one, 27 inch , iMac and now this MacBook are faster, less cumbersome, less "clunky" and simply a more pleasurable way to spend the hours I have long spent daily on a computer. The "why" of me taking so long to make the change is simple: Cost. On a dollar for dollar basis the PCs gave me more. Then along came Amazon/Woot and that changed. Both of my 'Macs' were brand new older models. -Ones Apple had set aside for warranty replacement. They are not the newest models, but they are in every meaningful way totally "now." -Both were quickly updated to the latest operating system and both use every app I could want or need. Not meant for normal "sale" simply meant that they were not boxed with sales brochures and the like. But the boxes were sealed, the items were brand new, and all the normal accessories were included. In the case of this MacBook there was no normal Apple warranty. (This is so, too, when one gets one of these as a replacement directly from Apple). But Amazon's site included the option of a four year warranty that even included accident damage and with no deductibles for a very reasonable price. Setup was standard Apple. Meaning that the devices could be totally personalized, and once one had been made so all of the personalization (even 3rd party apps!) could be transferred to the other, wirelessly, via the built-in Migration Assistant. The Macbook, as above, is truly a wonder. Its size was determined by the physical size of a standard keyboard. Everything else was scaled to this. It therefore "feels" when in use like a full sized computer but at less than two pounds, and not being much thicker than an iPhone, feels impossibly small and light when being carried. Its construction is gorgeous. Sculpted metal and glass. Backlit keys. A screen with impossibly good detail, color and brightness. In other words... total, practical, usable, class. Now owning these two Macs I'd say they are worth every penny one would spend for them at the normal Apple price. And at the special one-day price of these Amazon/Woot offers they were nothing short of a lifetime bargain. Yes, truly a wowsa! Recommended? And how!

Total Lemon - From Woot (not Amazon)
By Corinne on Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2018
Bought it through Amazon, fulfilled by Woot. Total junk. The Macbook gave me a weird run around when setting up so I bypassed my Apple ID (thank goodness) to get through setup to find the battery was not chargeable/need immediate replacement. Called Apple support (who were very helpful, but told me it seemed like a total lemon and to send back). Entered serial number on Apple’s website and the product was way beyond any of their warranty windows. Total runaround with Amazon and Woot. Went to clear what I had set up and then the computer wouldn’t even turn on. All within six hours being in my possession. Be very careful who the seller is!
