No cell service to 5 bars! HiBoost is great!
By Capt Hal on Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2025
Great product and truly great tech support! Frankly, amazing! I researched a number of products and landed on HiBoost, bottom line, this 4000 sq ft unit works great! Previously we had next to no cell service in our home, we were down to 1 bar of 4G (5G was impossible). We're both on Verizon Wireless. Getting phone calls was impossible, even on WiFi it wasn't pretty. The install was pretty straight forward and the package included everything you need. The user guide that comes in the box is not exactly crystal clear due to a somewhat poor language translation to English from what I assume was initially written in Chinese. That said, you can figure out what the guide is talking about with little effort. Here's the deal, you will be using 2 different apps that you will download to your smart phone from your app store. They are free. It will be smoother (but not necessary) if you can use 2 different smart devices so you can see both apps at the same time. Again, nice but not a requirement. One app allows you to locate the position of the closest cell tower so you can aim the antenna in the correct direction to get the best service. The second app allows you to interface with the HiBoost unit itself so you can see how well its boosting the signal and a number of other features. The key at first is to leave the indoor antenna unplugged from the HiBoost unit while your using these 2 apps to fine tune the outdoor antenna and signal. Once you get the best signal using the 2 apps then you can connect the indoor antenna and you'll be good to go. We went from having a constant 1 bar of 4G up to having 5 bars of 5G. I can now make and receive phone calls as well as watch video using my phones data. I'm now able to take some of the data load off of my WiFi. Great stuff! I love this unit. I received an email from HiBoost a few days after I received the unit, checking in to ask how I liked the unit. At first I ignored the email but then they sent another. I actually had a question about the LED indicators on the front panel so I replied to the email. About 30 seconds later I get a text message from Noah in tech support asking me how he could help. I have to admit that at first I was a bit skeptical about this support model (I mean what company does this?), but I went back and forth with Noah a few times and he answered my questions. I spent much of my career in tech support and I can say that we rarely reached out to a customer proactively. What a great business model! Kudos to Noah and HiBoost, job well done on a great product!

Definitely a mixed bag...

Had this for a couple years now. Overall the technology is sound and works under the right conditions as advertised. With that said, there are a number of things I've taken issue with it haven't had luck with. First, while it works great with T-Mobile, i can not get it to work with Verizon in the same area, pointing toward the respective cell towers in the region. Like 700 isn't passing anything through but it's detected. Verizon Phones don't get any antenna boost like the T-Mobile phones. Then there is the app. This is truly shady or just bone headed. The app requires signing up and registering an account in order to access the local device. I mean really. First, if I'm using the device, I'm in a region my phone cannot reach well enough to create an account! Second, the device is local. It's right there. Bluetooth or direct Wi-Fi to the phone for setup would be sufficient to access the local device. If i need to access it remotely, then have the option to create an account after local configuration is set up. But having an online account mandatory for local management just wreaks of privacy and security risk. The equipment itself seems sound. I do have to frequently reboot the device but that's not unreasonable given the underlying cell technology.
