An 11.6" HP Laptop with decent performance!
By Emissary52 on Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2018
I picked this model up a couple of weeks ago as a Deal of the Day and I'm glad I got it! It's a handy size for travel and has quite decent performance. I've bought several cheaper 11.6" laptops in the last few years that were under-powered by their low performing Intel and AMD processors as well as their 4GB memory and 32GB storage capacities. This model, the HP Probook11 G2, came equipped with a Pentium 4405U chip, 8GB of RAM and an m2 Sata 128GB SSD. In addition, mine also came with the larger 64ma battery which almost doubles the battery life over the standard 36. The Pentium 4405U processor does a good job of running the Windows 10 Professional version installed on this model. It's actually faster than the Intel 4010U Core i3 in my 4 year old Dell laptop. The single 8GB ram slot on the motherboard is as high up as you can go with memory, but I replaced the 128GB LiteOn m2 Sata SSD drive with a Crucial 500GB m2 Sata SSD, so there's now plenty of storage. It also came with an Intel 8260 wireless ac LAN card so you should have quick download times. You can download the maintenance manual for this model from HP's website so it's easy to to upgrade the wireless lan card or SSD drive. A set of small Torx screwdrivers, which are necessary to take off the bottom panel, that I bought a couple of years back, made it easy! This model from what I can see, is a couple of years old, but I received mine in new, unopened condition from Out of This World, a third party Amazon vendor and I'm very pleased with it! This model is built a little sturdier than the HP Pavilion line and has a lot more horsepower than the HP Stream laptops which are about $100-$150 cheaper. This is a great small laptop for people on the go or for a student that wants something more useful than a cheap Chromebook. If you're in the market for a small laptop, this is a good model to get! The current HP 11.6" ProBooks on HP's website are either under-powered for the same price or a lot more expensive for a higher performing model. Get one from Out of This World and Amazon before they're out of stock!
