Not like my father-in-law’s receiver
By Thigh light on Reviewed in the United States on March 6, 2019
I’ve taken a quick tour of this x3500 unit. I’m not an audiophile but have owned a number of receivers over many years starting with a Sansuii amp years ago and this replaces a 10 yr old Sony unit. I listen to music and enjoy a good home theatre setup. I researched competing units such as Pioneer, Yamaha and Onkyo. There are so many features it’s impossible to review properly so I will just say that this receiver sounds awesome and can do just about anything. It has enough of the raw power to shake your world yet can play delicately and accurately. Pros: fairly easy set up. So many features it takes a couple of hours but the process is smooth and works well. Alexa setup was the most challenging. Lots of power , lots of ability to tweak and adjust to room and taste, futureproof, good apps, connected to all devices including a NAS seamlessly. Looks like it should and has appropriate indicators. Cons: not many; the remote feels a bit cheap, so many features you need to put in the time and download to read the manual to get the most out of this unit Overall; at the price I would say this is a great receiver for music or whole home entertainment.

Denon doesn't care
By Kraygen on Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2020
Short review: Terrible reliability Terrible customer service Scam to milk you for money again and again Long review: After a little over 6 months the receiver quit working right in the middle of a TV show. It worked great for a few months and then just stopped putting out sound of any kind and stopped recognizing any speakers. Obviously it was too late to return to Amazon, so of course I contacted Denon customer service. I was informed that the warranty only covered repairs for 1 year, replacement regardless of how new was not an option unless I used their "upgrade" program where my practically new receiver could be traded in as a used/broken device getting me up to 10% of my purchase cost towards a newer, more expensive unit. If I wanted it repaired I would have to pay to ship it to a repair facility at which point "if" they decided it was covered by the warranty and "if" they didn't decide it was damaged in shipping, then they could fix it and return it to me. This would take at least a month. So basically, I use it for a few months and then pay more to ship it off to get a refurbished one, or pay to ship it off to pay almost full price for a new one. That's insane! I had an Onkyo that after 7 years needed repaired and Onkyo covered all costs to fix it for me! 3 years later, the only reason I wanted to replace it was I needed 4k support. I decided to try Denon because Onkyo hadn't released a new receiver that year and didn't have a 4k receiver with all the options I wanted. Hopefully they have something new now because I apparently spent a bunch of money on a brick with the Denon name on it. Denon customer service was rude and made it sound like a scam. Sounded like they expected their stuff to break quickly to make customers pay more to keep it going with no guarantee that you won't have to send it in again in another 6 months, only this time with no warranty which means you will spend less money buying a new receiver from another company. I know warranties these days are not what they used to be, but this is the worst I've experienced.
