There is an Evil Switcheroo

Bought an i7 MacBook last year. Needed one more for my setup and bought a 6 core i9. When it arrived I noticed something wasn't right. The shrink wrap had some small holes and the seam wasn't where it should be. As I took the shrink wrap off I noticed it was a cheaper type of cellophane and not the manufacturer shrink wrap. At first I thought this might just be a return and I was just hoping someone didn't return something that was messed up but I was still aggravated that it was a return that I was getting for my $3200. I then noticed the Apple sticker was on the plastic so I knew it had been removed and definitely opened... but then I noticed what the sticker was covering... a Lenovo logo. My heart sank. While I was still sitting in the UPS parking lot I called Amazon and their SUPERB customer service prevailed again. They apologized and had my replacement order sent out next day air Saturday delivery- just in time for service Sunday morning. They provided a return label and I took it right back in and returned it to Amazon. I have been an Amazon customer for many years and this is the first time something like this has happened. There are some horrible people out there that would do something like this but it will make me be much more careful in the future when ordering expensive items online. When my replacement showed up I recorded the entire process while the driver was still there and opened the box while having my wife record. I just rather be safe than sorry now. I am very happy with my product. It has plenty of storage space, runs Ableton Live 10 Suite with ease and gives me plenty of power and memory to do what I need. I am so happy with my purchase.

$2500 for 0.8ghz performance WTF

I was a long time Apple user, however I switched to dell for a few cycles. I had a massive issue with dells current generation battery, so I said it is time to give Apple a shot again. WOW was I wrong. I have been fighting this laptop since day one. This has by far been the worst Apple product I have ever owned. It really makes me wonder what is going on at Apple. If I were someone reading this, I would hang on to your existing latop, and wait for all the dust to settle. This generation of MBP is just so risky. The fit an finish is exactly what I expected, however none of that makes any difference if I cannot work from my laptop. Returning this POS.

2018 MacBook Pro 15" 2.6GHz I7 6 core, 512GB SSD, 16GB DDR4, 560x graphics, Space Grey Apple hit it out of the park this year with the inclusion of the 6 core 8th gen Intel processors. Speedier DDR4 memory and insane SSD speeds help as this is 1 of the fastest Mac's you can get, all in a nice portable size with a great screen. The discrete Radeon 560x graphics with 4GB helps with video editing and other tasks. Battery is better than last years models as well. I originally purchased the 13" 2018 MacBook Pro with i5/512GB SSD/8GB LPDDR3, but quickly found that the screen size was not for me. Its a pound lighter and little smaller, but I don't find carrying the 15" to be bothersome. Apple has done a great job at getting the build quality of these MacBook's down. While the 13" was fast and fluid, the smaller screen size is what ultimately made me switch. Of course the 15" feels snappier and smoother thanks to the 2 extra cores, faster DDR4 memory, and the discrete graphics. Both machines for 2018 are great upgrades over last years model.

Disclaimer: This is my first MacBook computer I am transitioning over from using a PC for the past 12 tween/teen/college years. So my review of course is through the eyes of a rookie. The screen resolution is great, I love how it auto adjusts to the surrounding light levels. The keyboard is awkward and I really feel like apple should incorporate a numeric keypad into their 15” models. The trackpad is also pretty huge it takes up about 2/3 of the entire bottom half of the the laptop and gets in the way when you’re in the midst of typing, etc. Again, I’m still getting over the learning curves of navigating through the software so I can’t give a concrete dissertation on the iOS platform. However the performance is great. Speed is lightning fast. 🎻 I purchased a MacBook Pro in hopes that it will be the perfect long-term investment for my business. I do not look forward to having to buy another computer within three years which is my why I made that hard transition from being a loyal PC user. Please don’t let me down Apple, I bite. -Said Eve
Best Macbook I have ever owned!

This Macbook exceeded by expectations, and despite the cost I'm very glad I bought it. It's built like a tank when closed, and even when it's been running for a while the metal exterior always stays cool. I think the power saving must work really well too, as the battery percentage barely moves when I shut the lid and leave it on for a day or so. The display is incredible, and I have no problems reading even the tiniest text with my 54 year old eyes. There's been nothing in the way of lag or freezing, even when running multiple applications at once. I use it for audio processing and recording, and bought it hoping that it would handle large audio files flawlessly, which it does. I don't really find the touch bar to be that useful, but I do use it sometimes. Maybe it's that I need to get used to it, but it seems like something I don't really need. Overall it's a great machine that completely satisfies my needs.

I think that this new 15" MacBook pro is one of the best devices for web programmers. I personally use it for that and is better than I initially expected. All the programs that I need to use run smoothly and without any bug, the screen resolution and size are perfect, I personally love the feel of the new keyboard. The touch bar is a good plus for extra option when you are running a program. In general I think this is a great product and a top laptop for my work.

The most frustrating things are the keyboard and the mousepad. No simple right-click on mousepad. The depth of click is way too shallow. There are also some very frustrating issues with MS Word and permissions to save files. You have to shut the laptop down and start over. Grrrr!
First Mac in years

When my PC broke down a few weeks back, I decided to give a mac a try. The majority of people I know use macs and love them, and I've had macs in the past and always thought they were pretty decent. I guess the main benefit of this mac over a PC, in my opinion, is the size. It's a small machine, very portable and easy to carry with you. For that reason alone, I will give it 3-stars. That said, I am pretty shocked at how limited the Mac interface feels at this point. It hasn't changed at all. It feels so far behind on functionality. A lot of the software is more limited for mac. There are things I could breeze through on my PC & I struggle to find the functionality on the mac. Some of it, I am convinced doesn't exist. A lot of software is made for PC and there are plugins and extensions, and everything works together flawlessly. I guess you get used to whatever you've got, but at this point, I haven't seen much benefit in this mac, aside from it being more "petite". I've actually had some really slow processing when doing regular work in Adobe software, really, really slow. The kind of speed my OLD, old, old PC would experience. How can a brand new, modern, computer, run like that? I am not the biggest fan of this computer, but it is what I decided to get and now I am stuck with it. Hopefully, my experience improves.

As my new laptop after my older MBP Mid 2009 this is a huge improvement for me in terms of performance for sure. For a reason I didn't understand the new screen was somehome not comfortable for my eye and it toke some time to get used to it while it should be better than my old laptop. the issue I hated this laptop because of is that new touch bar. Beside it's 100% useless I accedentally touch esc and reload buttons allot which make mes me really angry espesially when I lose something I didn't save. I think I should have bought the cheaper one with regular keys.
