I'm assuming that anyone looking in to the surface laptop has already done a good amount of research and is leaning towards buying it. What you might be wondering is: Should I risk buying refurbished, and which one should I get? To answer the first question my opinion is absolutely yes. It came sealed in a box from Microsoft that stated that it was certified refurbished. Had it not had that label on it, I would have assumed it was brand new. It came packaged exactly the same way you would expect a new product to be packaged. It was partially charged right out of the box and set up took about 15 minutes. What I really like about this computer: - It turns on almost instantly and the facial recognition is extremely quick - The screen is fantastic - Its roughly the same size and weight as the MacBook air - The battery life is great. Most laptops run sluggish in the battery saver mode and the screen goes so dim you can barely see it. With this computer I will probably use it most of the time in battery saver mode unless I'm doing some image processing. I've been using it for about 4 hours and still have 65% battery life left. What I don't like: - Nothing really. I cant figure out how to get the touchpad to scroll up and down faster but I think that's just a Windows setting. Which one should you buy? If you do a little research the differences between version 1, 2, and 3 are processor upgrades and I believe version 3 has the USB C connection. Cosmetically everything else seems to be exactly the same. Only you know if you really need USB C. I personally don't and I I'm perfectly happy with the core 7 chip instead of the core 8. I decided to opt for the Surface laptop 1 with 512 gb hard drive, and 16gb of ram. RAM and storage for me was far more important than having the latest chip and I couldn't be happier with my decision. In conclusion I'm very satisfied all around and would never know this computer is certified refurbished. I personally would opt for the better specs on the earlier version of the computer. For $780 I feel like this was a steal. Edit: this computer still kicks ass for the price, no regrets purchasing as of 9/4/21

The seller is

The seller is the most problematic. They sent a laptop that did not match the description and created trouble with the return. In fact when I received the laptop it also had system files corrupt because when I tried to reset it to the factory setting it had the root file missing and I had to contact Windows support in order to download the file and reset it in order to return. The battery of the laptop was also weak besides that the processor would slow down every 10 minutes. Above all the seller has been troublesome taking this return and it’s been over a month since I’m trying and have wasted 50+ hours dealing with them and Amazon
