This thing is a beast !!!

This 17 inch HP Omen X laptop is an absolute beast!! Its huge and heavy but mightily powerful with a GTX 10180 gpu. So this is the gaming laptop you want if you value a well made build along with great options such as customizing the RGB lights and overclocking. This is the 2nd renewed HP laptop i have bought from Amazon. And I love them both. The other is a HP Spectre 4K 15 inch and that has a beautiful design and 4k display and is just like brand new. The same with this Omen X its renewed but you could not tell any difference from a new one apart from a different box it comes in. Why other PC vendors have not come up with such an easy to use feature like overclocking your laptop like HP have done here is beyond me. The beast although huge and heavy which I love, because it makes such a statement and i intend this to be as a desktop replacement with the option to move it around if you really need too. It looks stunning with its visual design and RGB lights. It is not loud at all when idle. Im yet to really fire it up when gaming but it looks like HP have done a great job with cooling. I bought a sager laptop before this, which i just wasnt impressed with, it ran so loud even when idle. The RGB was just abit mehh and the build quality just ok. Even the specs were higher in that it had a 9th gen cpu and larger ssd and sshd, it had a rtx 2070 max q. The HP Omen X has a bigger screen and a GTX 1080 and was $400 cheaper. Really glad that i returned the sager which was a dissapointment and bought this HP Omen X. The only thing about this laptop is everytime you touch it it leaves finger prints, so you need to constantly wipe it to keep it clean. The speakers are only just so so but youre never going to get amazing sound out of a laptop so its far better to just plug in some decent external speakers. The port selection is superb. Only wish the minidisplayport wasnt at the back because then you need to keep it some distance from the wall if plugging in an oculus rift s with adapter attached. But apart from that HP have done a great job!!

HP made some mistakes...some red herring sensor mistakes
By Arulin on Reviewed in the United States on January 3, 2020
The issues with the heat on the CPU should of been on Gamer Nexus but guess it slid under the radar and came down to this corn to figure it out. To explain it, there are a number of sensors on the board and on the chip itself. The ones for the chip itself are reading on average of about 35 - 38c which is normal on idle while HP's sensor is reading all over the place from 55c up on idle which should tell us the HP sensor is somehow malfunctioning in these machines. After confirming with a tech at Microcenter that this is a common issue with HP products. You can try this yourself by running Speedfan which is a free app download and check your sensors yourself. By far this is one of the biggest flaws in HP's sensor choice and not an issue with the 7820HK itself. HP stop dragging your feet and make the recall. Other than that, the machine dose game pretty well. ARK ran on ultra at about 60 to 62 fps avg and Red Dead Redemption 2 around 70 fps on ultra without killing itself as the sensor for the cpu is suggesting.
