Amazing Gaming Laptop, looks brand new
By JJ on Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2019
Said "renewed by amazon", which is confusing. Laptop arrived in an official HP box, so I believe it was actually "renewed by HP". Looks new, not a scratch on it, no finger prints, no worn keys. Everything works great, I would have assumed its a brand new laptop. Now here's what sold me on this laptop: #1 GTX 1070 Graphics Card. This card is a beast and it's amazing that they were able to fit it inside a laptop. Yes this laptop is a couple years old now, and quite large, but it's a better gaming machine than most full-sized computers. #2 The 120Hz monitor. Most laptops are still living in the age of 60hz monitors, most people still use a 60hz monitor on their full-sized computer.. This laptop has a 120hz monitor built-in. If this sounds like Greek to you, well it's like switching from black-and-white TVs over to a full color TV... (Gamers mostly) will never, EVER go back to a 60hz monitor once they get a taste of 120hz (or higher)... The difference is the clarity of moving images. There is much less "motion blur", it remains crisp and easy to see fast moving objects with great detail. It feels like cheating sometimes. And now the cons: - Big, heavy. It feels fine on my lap, but not easy to just set down somewhere. It needs it's own spot. - Processor is mediocre. If you are a video editor, PhotoShopper, or other type of weirdo, then this processor might get the job done, but there are better options for you. This is a gaming laptop.

Just buy a new one.
By Andi W. on Reviewed in the United States on June 16, 2019
So I made this purchase thinking it was a certified refurbished computer... no, it was definitely not inspected and if it was they did a poor job. the laptop overheated sitting at windows home screen and nothing was running on the computer. My guess is that when it was sold new, somebody tried to overclock it and had no idea what they were doing because everything as far as core was maxed out but nothing else was adjusted, but they should have caught this had it been properly inspected. I attempted to downclock it myself so I wouldn’t have to return it but it was already too far gone. (It would sit at 97C and not really do anything else. ) Hp tech support is terrible as well I might add, I tried to have them walk me through downclocking but they didn’t know anything about it, So thanks for that I will probably never purchase another HP product again because of the quality of service and the 6 hours I spend attempting to fix it is time I will never get back. If it is refurbished and it says it will be like new, then I shouldn’t have to try and fix it because they didn’t fix it. It is worth spending a little extra on a new one.
