Bates Men's Raide Mid Tactical Boot (Open Box)

I'm so happy I was able to find another pair of these outstanding shoes. My first two pairs I was able to get on Woot (Amazon subsidiary) and the first lasted until very recently. I walk at least three miles a day sometimes six and they just kept going. When I got the second set out of the box and started using them, I was horrified to see that Bates appears to now be a brand of wolverine and these fantastic shoes are difficult to find in stock. I guess they are phasing them out. Well I have my next pair for after these. If I remember correctly the first pair lasted almost two years if not longer.

Very comfortable boot. I work in a warehouse and walk a LOT! These are very nice, feet do not ache at night. But even better...is Greg at the vendor! This guy really went above and beyond to help an issue I had, and I was over a month out of my return window. I will be buying more from them, and you should also.

I have two pair and they've held up great! I sure hope they bring this back. The backside of the heal has a tough composite that works great keeping the shape. Comfortable for all day use for all seasons. Only downside is the toe flap could be more secure.

I bought these based on a discussion with a friend that had been in the US Army. He told me that he received Bates boots while on the ground in Iraq and that they were the best he had ever worn - comfortable, lighweight and sturdy. Now, I didnt need full tactical boots, so I went went with the Raide mid level. My feet always hurt. It doesn't matter how much I spend on shoes, boots, etc., they always hurt. I bought these based on his recommendation and I have been extremely satisfied and happy that I did. I have had them for a little over a month and have worn them every day. I have not added any insoles (usually the first thing I need to do when I get a new pair of footwear), and they are just as comfortable today as they were on the first day. I would recommend these to anyone. I'm not working in the field much any more, but I sure wish I had these when I was.

Very light, very comfortable boots. I was looking for a boot that would keep my feet cool in the California and Texas summer - these will do it. I knew I'd keep them within a few minutes of putting them on for the first time. Normally I break in boots for a month before they're comfortable enough to wear all day long, but these felt broken in from the start.. The ankle and tongue are heavily padded, the laces stay tied, and the arches provide enough support so I don't need Dr Scholl's inserts. I take a 9.5E, and these don''t squeeze my feet, even with thick socks worn underneath (that's the Number One reason I return shoes). One personal quibble; I'd prefer the "hook" type speedlace eyelets above the ankle, so I think I'll get the local shoemaker to replace those. I like these boots so much that I'll order a second set - because I've learned that it'll be hard to find a similar pair when the first ones finally wear out.

This is the second pair I ordered that arrived the wrong color, I ordered the tan and they keep sending me the black ones. I had the all black leather and loved them but my uniform changed where I have to wear the tan boots. Also, these were discolored and seemed like they were old and dry rotted. So disappointing!

Comfortable right out of the box. I have a wide foot and these were comfortable right now the box. I did not have to order any special size. Someone with a very narrow foot may think these fit loosely. As stated in another review, these are basically an expensive pair of brown sneakers but I need a brown tactical style boot for my work uniform. I wish the top to eyelets were speed laces but these are a great lightweight boot. Update After less than 2 months the rubber that wraps up the toes peeled off like a cheap pair of sneakers and the side blew out.

I was looking for a motorcycle boot that wouldn't require a bank loan to purchase. From what I have read, many motorcycle injuries are foot and ankle related. These boots looked like they would provide much better protection than tennis or walking shoes and I didn't want a pair of clod-hopper leather Frankenstein boots that weigh as much as cinder blocks. So I ordered these, and much to my surprise they fit and felt comfortable. The reason I said "surprise" is because this is the 5th pair of boots I ordered from Amazon. For various reasons I had to return the first 4 pair. I've been to Kohl's so many times I'm now family. Bottom line,,, so far these boots are great. Thick where they need to be but still light weight. I'll update this review should they suddenly fall apart.

Great boots for the money. Very comfortable and lightweight. First pair lasted about a year of general construction use, which I know is not the intented design. the wierd little toe pad started peeling away from the boot after a few months so I just cut it off. After extended kneeling the stitches busted on the top of the boot, so I used shoe goo to repair that. Both of these issues were due to me not using these boots as intended, so I don't hold it against them. The wide size fits great, I normally wear a 9.5 4e new balance sneaker, I got these in 10 extra wide. When these boots die next year, I'll probably get a 3rd pair.

First impressions: it's a military "styled" boot. At best it can be used in a garrison setting. I have a "WIDE" foot, these don't feel like "EXTRA WIDE" as advertised. The last is quite cushionny which is what I am looking for. ...so can these "boots" stand up to daily walking in an office/industrial environ???? I the words of a movie fave of mine "...I'm about to find that out!" More to follow.
