The Miele Kona C3 Vacuum
By J. Hoover on Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2025
We have an old Miele C2 Velvet vacuum that we purchased 15 to 20 years ago that we love and still use however when we moved into a two story house with a semi finished basement and mostly wood floors we decided to add the Miele C3 Calima to avoid having to drag one vacuum to all three levels. We love how lite and easy Calima is to use, how well it vacuums and how quiet it is. We added the larger parquet twister, cutting vacuuming time noticeably. However while the Colima’s turbo brush attachment worked acceptably on the living room’s medium pile rug under most circumstances, we noticed that after our kids visited with their dogs that the turbo brush wasn’t very effective at completely removing the dog hair. Both dogs drop short hairs in abundance. After using the turbo brush the carpet would look clean but after a few days we would notice more hair reappearing requiring another vacuuming of the carpet. Since we were still lugging a vacuum to the basement we decided to add one more vacuum with a power brush to see if it would remove the dog hair more thoroughly. So we purchased the Miele C3 Kona. One thing I noticed immediately is the hose and extension tube are heavier than either of the older vacs even when using non powered attachments. Most likely the additional weight is due to the more robust design needed to supply power to the power brush. Understandable but I wasn’t expecting it. So I need to adjust my expectations accordingly. Setting my laziness generated complaint aside, does the Kona power brush remove the short dog hair more effectively? After each of the last two dog visits I used the Kona power head on the carpet and we noticed that no dog hair reappeared on the carpet in the following days. Our socks also do not have dog hair on them after walking on the cleaned carpet in stocking feet. Hopefully the two newer Mieles Hold up like the first one has. I am still amazed that after all this time that old C2 can still retract the power cord when you step on the button. In addition after using the Kona a few more times I have adjusted to the additional weight of the hose and extension tube and no longer think about it.

Do Not Buy Miele Marin C3.
By 4Cats4me on Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2025
Sadly, I purchased this vacuum in June of 2023. My husband was the first to say that the Miele Marin C3 was a hunk of junk but I kept resisting. Truthfully, I didn’t want to believe that I made a wide investment at a cost of $960. Well, as much as I hate to admit it, he was right. I have had nothing but problems since purchasing. I have tried calling Miele Customer Care and typically, I get transferred no less than 6 times before mediocre customer service, at best. I have created a case only to be told that I should take the vacuum (again) to an authorized vacuum center for repair. There is no joy in lugging this thing around, not to mention being without a vacuum cleaner for several weeks. And did I mention I have 4 cats?? Lots of problems with the power head turning off and on and without doubt, the most frustrating thing is the release of the power head from upright to vacuuming. I have to push very hard to release and sure enough, whatever $0.50 mechanism that allows it to meet with the floor broke off. Not once, not twice, but today makes 3 times. I called Miele again today and received a 5 minute explanation that in order for it to release properly I have to stand on one foot, bend over at. 90 degree angle and whistle a happy tune while doing so. Seriously, this shouldnt be happening with such an expensive vacuum. I don’t have the time nor energy to bring it back to the repair shop again. I actually purchased a Kenkorr today for 1/3 the price. Gets good reviews so we will see. At least if something goes wrong I won’t feel completely robbed. Small footnote: while Miele was a complete disaster, Amazon has extended some funds to me for repair costs and aggravation. And, when I took this in last time for repair, the woman told me they have had lots of complaints about this exact same issue. So much so that they went back to Miele and were told they haven’t changed the design of this part but the complaints say otherwise. Stay away from this one. There are better vacuums out there for less.
