Good jump pack. Not perfect.

This bumper box is awesome for the most part. It’s compact enough to carry anywhere- fits under a seat or in a trunk no problem. Like stays on the top of my tool box. Cable length is long enough to reach even heavy duty top wing nut batteries. It works, and it works AMAZINGLY WELL. Attach the cables and the unit auto detects the battery. If it’s low, hold the boost button and start the vehicle. You have about 15 seconds of start time before the boost feature disables. The limited boost time is one of the things I don’t like about it. The jump pack stops throwing voltage after the boost cycle, meaning that if the battery doesn’t have enough charge, everything shuts off. It would be nice to have a fast charger to come with it. That being said, this thing is an awesome value for the money. It started a completely dead 6.7 powerstroke f450. I mean completely dead- oth batteries had 1.5 volts. It started a 7.3 powerstroke that has been sitting on the lot for 5 years. I had to use the pack twice, because the first time was just for fuel priming. Started the truck up both times without issue. If it’ll do that old 7.3, it’ll do any regular vehicle you want it to. It also has emergency lights, and can double as a power pack.

Don't believe the published specs (but great customer service)

Update: Pleasantly surprised when Topdon contacted me wanting to make things right. They sent a replacement that testing shows has nearly twice the capacity (at almost 5 mhr) vs the first but still only a fraction of the advertised capacity. Voltage flutter worse on this unit and after the second test it seems like it is taking much longer to recharge and the charger got seriously hot (not just warm but HOT!) but I didn’t go any further with it. Topdon’s final position was that I don’t have the proper testing equipment for lithium (my test rig is specifically designed for lithium and other chemistries) but they did send prepaid shipping labels to return the units and promised a refund. Tempted to add a star for good customer service but in the end the product earned 1 star or less so it gets 1 star. Side note- there is at least 1 review of this type of jump starter on YouTube by a channel that does a good job and while they did not review this product they demonstrated that most sellers lie about capacity but not everyone! In fact one product exceeded specified capacity. Prior review: I've wanted one of these for years but couldn't justify the price versus just occasionally replacing the battery in my 30 yr old lead-acid portable emergency jump starter. When I found this on sale and it to be (inexplicably) well reviewed I purchased it. I found it to be a nice unit but seriously underwhelming compared to its specifications. Performs more like units that claim 1000 amps and the claimed 45 jump starts for sure applies to lawnmower engines or mopeds or something rather than automobiles. First warning sign was when it wouldn't recharge my IPad more than twice so started investigating. In short: - Topdon wasn't able to tell me what size connector I needed to actually use the 10 amp output port (its a 5.5 x 2.1mm by the way); - Amp-Hr rating is a TENTH of the 24 Amp-Hrs claimed!!!! Measured AH compacity is 2.6 AH at 9.5 amp discharge and almost 3 AH at a 2.5 amp discharge measured using professional equipment designed for battery capacity testing and data logging; - if you allow the status indicator lights to decline to 2 lights you are damaging the batteries since at 2 lights you are below 14v which is damaging to a 5 cell Li-ion battery. - my battery tester analyzer is telling me that the output voltage was fluttering during testing and I traced this to a probable loose connection within the Topdon unit. I didn't want to disassemble to check because I will return this unit! - the claimed "intense" bright light (400 lumens) is so diffuse that while better than nothing it is not particularly useful for inspecting/repairing your vehicle. It is however sufficiently bright that search and rescue could find you at night if they have night vision equipment. Otherwise is too dim. - USB functions seem to work fine but the DC output port shuts off very quickly (like in a few seconds) when load removed so it's pretty useless unless you can count on a steady load. Also it doesn’t take the standard DC 12v car type plug. The plug it takes is somewhat common but proper size listed nowhere and 10 amp (16 AWG wire) versions somewhat difficult to find though I did eventually find one on Amazon. - claims 45 watt charge rate but only 15 watt charger provided and it is SLOW!
