5 years and still going strong!

I just looked back and see that I bought this in June or 2018. Currently it is relegated to my EZ Breeze enclosure as I have the self emptying 3+ for the main part of my house. It's so easy to use that my cat regularly vacuums for me. She is seriously fascinated with this and likes to push the button and then stalk it. Maintenance has been minimal. I replaced the brush motor once which was really easy and not at all expensive. I think I used a 3rd party solution. I think I put new brushes in it once and I replace the filter every so often. It does great on hardwood and even does really well on carpet. In my previous house, I had a berber carpet. It was low pile but I had three long haired mostly white cats and the cat hair would really stick to it. Now it's working with low pile indoor outdoor carpet. I often use the Alexa app to start it, if the cat hasn't vacuumed already. It's been a real time saver over the years. However, if you can swing it, I would recommend the self emptying base. I think the 3+ is the least expensive. That one has maps. I can't really see a reason to buy anything more complicated than the 3+. I bought that one 3 years ago, for our retirement home, and it has been equally trouble free. We are now retired and I vacuum almost every night. It's a little noisy, so I use ear plugs. I really don't think I need to put a new bag in more than a couple of times a year. I do have to clean cat hair out of the rollers and wheels on a regular basis (once a month or so?). These things are built to last!

Very disappointed

I purchased this in July and have held out on reviewing until I could really give it a fair assessment. This is my second robotic vacuum. The one we had previously was the Neato and it did a wonderful job, unfortunately it just died after a few years. As for how we use the Roomba, we have it programmed to run every weekday starting at 1:00. Our house is all one level, 1600 feet, and a mix of carpet and tile.I'll start with the cons. First, it did not come with barriers so I had to spend an extra $75.00 for two of those and one of them doesn't work so I can't block off the area where my cat's food sits. The most frustrating part is that there is no rhyme or reason to the route the Roomba takes each day. It seems to just bump into walls or furniture, then turn around and go another direction until it bumps into something else. If it runs into something on the ground (let's say a pet food bowl for example), it just pushes it along until it hits something else. It will go several days at times without getting to the rooms on the other side of the house from the dock/charger. Sometimes it will just keep going until it runs out of juice because it can't find it's dock/charger.There are some pros. It seems to do an adequate job picking up pet fur, hair, misc debris. As with all of these vacuums, it doesn't do great with corners but overall it does a pretty good job. The battery life for me has been fine, no concerns there. I do like that there's an app, but I don't really use it very much since you can't map out your house or pick specific areas for it to clean. However, being able to program the weekly run schedule via the app is very convenient. The interface with Alexa is pretty limited as well, and that was one of the key features I wanted when I purchased this. So far it has been fairly easy to clean.Overall, I would not purchase this again nor would I recommend it to anyone. Despite the relatively low price tag, I just don't feel it's worth the money. I will be researching one that actually maps out the house and you can see where it goes each day, as well as be able to pick specific rooms to have it clean.
