Accurate, easy to install
By Timothy M Smale on Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2024
Works great and held up well after 1 week use on my boat trailer transporting it 1500 miles. Shows temperature and pressure and installation of the repeater was easy after buying another male trailer wiring plug to fit into my spare female receptacle so it had 12 volt power. I purchased the plug at my local trailer dealer and wired it up so that it’s easily removed when the repeater is not in use. I used plastic wire ties to attach the repeater on my trailer frame just behind the hitch. The battery doesn’t last very long, about 4 hours, but I leave it plugged in during use and that works well. I like how you can remove it from the vehicle and take it with you to adjust the tire pressures to get an instant reading while adding or removing air, then place it back in the vehicle to monitor everything under way. I have another 4 tire monitoring system for a trailer I sold but needed a new 6 tire system for a new trailer and this particular system is highly recommended and well worth the piece of mind. It’s not cheap but I wouldn’t go without a TPS, and this system is fantastic. I had a nail in my tire after 500 miles but thankfully it didn’t go through the tire, didn’t leak air, and I was able to monitor the situation the rest of the 1,000 miles using this device. I did an extensive amount of research before purchasing a TPS and this one is great.

Watch out for false alarms
By Jim on Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2022
Not much to add to existing information. Fairly easy to install. Check the contents of your box for the correct number of sensors. I ordered the 10 sensor kit but I got a box that listed 8 sensors on the outside. I was setting up an Amazon return when I checked inside and found they had added 2 additional sensors (and accompaning parts) to the kit. The only real problem I have is that I keep getting false alarms while driving. Not sure the cause, it happens on different sensors and goes away the next time that sensor updates. Usually it's either an over pressure reading or an over temp reading. It's always a very high reading (like 175 psi or 302°F) while the other reading for that sensor is still normal. (IE: temp 302°F but pressure is still 110psi) Once in a while I'll also get a random sensor sending a low battery alarm, but that's not as often as also goes away with the next sensor update. All my sensors are installed on a class 8 tractor with no repeater as that would be installed on the trailer. Again, not sure of the cause. It only happens when driving on the highway so it could be interference from another vehicle or something roadside. It's annoying, but after stopping to investigate a few false alarms you can apply a little common sense to rule out those with a single sudden extreme value since temp and pressure the to go up and down together during operation. One feature that would make the entire system better would be the ability to actively probe for a reading update. So for instance you need to see up to date readings without waiting 5 minutes for all the sensors to check in. Or in the case of alarm values you (or the unit) could request an update to check the accuracy or look for a change without having to wait 5 minutes for the next passive update. It would be fairly easy to implement, the more powerful dash unit could send out a strong but simple pulse triggering an automatic response from the sensors. Finally, while the pass through sensors are great, especially paired with a Catseye or Crossfire dual tires pressure equalization system, they stick out a lot on my front steer tires with the cap extending almost as far out as my hub cap and lug nuts. Maybe a shorter valve stem could be used in this case, not sure. Also, unless you're constantly double checking the pressure readings or inflating/deflating the tires then they aren't any better than simply screwing a cap on and off. The so called anti-theft feature is just a jamb nut you add to the valve stem before the sensor is screwed on. Really only helps stop the sensor from backing off over time.
