I have a poodle with tight curly fur. This rake is a wonderful tool and I'm so happy that I bought it. It loosens up the curls so you can get out any mats. It's comfortable to hold and my puppy just lays on my lap and it doesn't seem to bother her at all. Worth every penny.

Not for badly matted curly cost dogs

This is a fairly sturdy tool. However, mine had burrs along the non sharpened side of the blades. I had to file the burrs off to made the blade sharp enough to work on a straight coat dog. I have a curly coat Bernedoodle that is badly matted in some places. This tool will not work to cut through those matts. This is one of the better brands of dematting tools and it just doesn't work on a matted curly coat. The Merle color in the video will go to be groomed in a couple of days. She will have to be trimmed very carefully all the way to her skin.
